Boswell Landing Self-Service Campground & Boat Ramp is strategically located on Boswell Landing Rd, Dover, TN 37058, USA. This address places it squarely within the Land Between the Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area, a vast and beloved natural expanse that stretches across Kentucky and Tennessee. For locals in Tennessee, reaching this destination is part of the adventure, offering a scenic drive into one of the state's most iconic outdoor regions.
Accessibility to Boswell Landing is generally good, with well-maintained roads leading into the LBL and then to the campground itself. While it's considered "back country primitive camping," the access roads are typically suitable for standard vehicles and those towing trailers, ensuring a relatively smooth journey. Its location on the edge of Kentucky Lake provides direct waterfront access for many sites, which is a significant draw for boaters and those who cherish lakeside views.
The true beauty of Boswell Landing's location lies in its immersive natural setting. Being part of the LBL means campers are surrounded by thousands of acres of protected forests, diverse wildlife, and extensive trail systems. This offers a genuine escape from urban environments and an opportunity to fully embrace the tranquility of nature. While it provides a sense of seclusion, it's still within reasonable driving distance of essential services in nearby Dover, ensuring that campers can resupply if needed. The easy access to the lake via the on-site boat ramp further enhances its appeal, allowing for seamless transitions from land-based camping to water-based activities. This combination of straightforward accessibility and deep immersion in nature makes Boswell Landing an ideal choice for Tennesseans seeking an authentic and peaceful primitive camping experience.
As Boswell Landing operates as a "Self-Service Campground" and its sites are "first come first served," it typically does not offer traditional promotions or special offers in the same way a commercial campground with reservations might. The pricing for primitive campgrounds within the Land Between the Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area is usually set by the managing authority and is often a standard, low daily fee per site.
However, visitors can consider the inherent "special offer" of such a campground:
Since there's no direct phone number for the campground itself, to inquire about any fee changes or general LBL camping policies, it's best to consult the official Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area website or contact the LBL administrative office. They would be the authoritative source for any information regarding costs or rare, broad LBL-wide initiatives that might impact primitive campgrounds. Always be prepared for the self-service nature of the site and bring cash if there's a self-pay station.
As Boswell Landing is a "Self-Service Campground" and its sites are available on a "first come first served" basis, there isn't a direct phone number for the campground itself for reservations. The management is primarily handled by the Land Between the Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area.
For general inquiries about LBL primitive campgrounds, current conditions, or LBL policies, it's best to refer to the official Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area website or contact their main information desk. This will be the most reliable source for factual information. Remember to have alternative plans, especially during peak camping seasons, as sites are not reservable and can fill up quickly.

The primary allure for locals lies in its genuine "back country primitive camping" style. This isn't a place with crowded amenities or loud entertainment; it's where you can truly disconnect and immerse yourself in nature. The "spacious and well-kept" sites, many "right on the edge of the lake," offer unparalleled privacy and direct access to the water, which is a significant draw for any Tennessean eager to enjoy Kentucky Lake. Whether you're an avid angler ready to launch your boat at "the crack of dawn," a kayaker seeking peaceful waters, or a hiker eager to explore nearby trails, Boswell Landing serves as an ideal base.
The self-service nature and first-come, first-served policy, while requiring some spontaneity, also offer a sense of freedom and adventure that many locals cherish. It means you can decide on a whim to head out and find a spot, fostering a more relaxed and less regimented camping experience. The affordability of primitive sites also makes it an excellent option for budget-conscious adventurers, allowing more frequent trips to enjoy the beautiful LBL region.
Furthermore, the emphasis on maintaining a "fairly clean and mostly litter free" environment, even for a primitive site, speaks to the dedication of the LBL management in preserving this natural treasure. This ensures that the breathtaking lakeside views and peaceful surroundings remain unspoiled for all to enjoy. For any Tennessean seeking an invigorating, serene, and unpretentious outdoor escape that fully embraces the natural beauty of our state, Boswell Landing is an exceptional and highly recommended choice, promising "unforgettable moments" under the vast Tennessee sky.

Boswell Landing Campground at Land Between the Lakes exceeded all expectations, especially with the phenomenal weather on New Year’s Day! The crisp 36 degree air and sunny clear skies made for a perfect start to the year, and the lakeside views were absolutely breathtaking. The campsites are spacious and well-kept, offering plenty of privacy while still being close to the water. We spent the day kayaking and hiking the nearby trails, which were both peaceful and invigorating. Watching the sun set over the lake was a highlight of the trip—a serene and unforgettable moment.
Jan 02, 2025 · Eric HortonAs far as back country primitive camping goes, this place is great. Most sites are right on the edge of the lake. There is a boat ramp and dock as well as a vault toilet. Camp ground was fairly clean and mostly litter free, so it shows they come through frequently to keep on top of it. If noise in the early mornings bother you I suggest not picking a site near the boat ramp as the ramp is not just for people camping there, and people show up at the crack of dawn to launch their boats and aren't exactly respectful of campers who are sleeping. Also, keep in mind that sites here are first come first served, so have alternative plans during busy camping season in case all sites are filled once you arrive.
May 19, 2022 · Steve FurstBeautiful self serve camping spot on KY Lake. Each campsite has a fire ring and picnic table. On site, there is an outhouse (no running water), a boat ramp with loading dock, and a bin for trash. Regularly seen wildlife includes raccoons (they will get into food/food garbage), skunks (cute from afar, don't startle them), and the occasional deer. Owls and coyotes can be heard in the distance at night.
