For Maryland locals seeking a convenient, family-friendly beach experience and a relaxing camping getaway, Breezy Point Beach & Campground in Chesapeake Beach offers a fantastic solution. Nestled on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, this destination provides a more accessible and often less overwhelming alternative to ocean beaches, making it a perfect spot for a day trip or an overnight stay. Known for its unique netted swimming area, which provides peace of mind for parents, and a host of amenities designed for family fun, Breezy Point is a beloved summer retreat for residents across the state. Whether you're looking to build sandcastles, hunt for shark teeth, enjoy a picnic, or simply relax by the water, Breezy Point Beach & Campground delivers a wholesome and enjoyable outdoor experience right in your backyard.
Customer reviews consistently highlight the suitability of Breezy Point for families and its distinct advantages over other local beach options. One reviewer succinctly put it, "It’s not the ocean but pretty solid beach not far from DC. Way better than sandy point!" This immediate comparison emphasizes its local appeal and perceived superiority over a well-known alternative. The protective net is a significant draw: "No jellyfish (net keeps them out I think). It was $24 for two of us in one car. Good for families. There’s a playground and good bathrooms and showers. I’d come back with kids." This feedback underlines key family amenities and the value proposition. Another reviewer echoed this sentiment, stating, "Great way to experience the beach with kids. There's a swimming area with a net around it to keep jellyfish out, but it also works well to keep kids in and contained." This dual benefit of the net—safety from marine life and containment for children—is clearly a major selling point for parents.
Reviewers also offer balanced perspectives on the beach itself: "The sand is a little rocky in places, which makes it a little more uncomfortable to walk on, but it's great for hunting for rocks and shells." This suggests a trade-off that many find acceptable, especially given the unique fossil-hunting opportunities in the Calvert County area. The lack of ocean-like waves is also noted: "It's not the ocean, so the waves are non existent, which again, can be both good and bad." This characteristic makes it particularly safe for young children. Practical advice is also shared: "There are picnic tables, bathrooms, and a playground. They don't rent equipment, but you can bring umbrellas and chairs. It's crowded and pricey on the weekends ($20+/person), so Tuesday is the best day to go, as it's $10 per car. It's worth visiting if you have kids and you go on a cheaper day." This detailed advice about crowds, pricing, and amenities provides invaluable guidance for prospective visitors, highlighting that smart planning can significantly enhance the experience.

Breezy Point Beach & Campground offers clear pricing strategies that, when leveraged, act as excellent promotions for locals. The most notable is the significant price difference between weekdays and weekends. As one reviewer noted, "It's crowded and pricey on the weekends ($20+/person), so Tuesday is the best day to go, as it's $10 per car." This direct comparison highlights that going on a weekday, specifically Tuesday, reduces the cost dramatically from a per-person charge to a per-car charge, making it significantly more affordable for families or groups traveling together in one vehicle. This is a substantial saving and a compelling reason for locals with flexible schedules to plan their visits accordingly. While there aren't traditional "buy one get one free" type promotions, this tiered pricing structure serves as a built-in discount for strategic visitors. Jun 04, 2024 · C. StephensI went to the Campground and it was really nice. You have space in the camping sites. You get both electricity and Water. And the swimming area isn’t that far from there. You get a lot of space for yourself, and there’s actually a fishing place. The only downside are the bathrooms. They are cleaned in the morning but they are a little old and rusty.
Jul 17, 2024 · Hervin AvilaNice beach that wasn't too crowded. There's a nice fenced area for safer swimming. There are some shaded areas. But be warned!! The sand can get hot. Like, lava hot. We walked down to the water kind of early in the day. When leaving the water, it was a game of 'the floor is lava' except I didn't have water shoes and there was no way to get away from the searing heat except bury your feet in the sand every few steps. That way, you could get your feet nicely cooked. Nobody wants a hard, fried foot that's raw in the middle! I'm sure some/part/most of that was in my head as it was my first beach excursion of the week/season/year/okay, many years. Go enjoy the beach. Quit reading some rando's review.
Jul 11, 2024 · John PopeIt was a clean beach, but it does get busy during summer. There are grills you can use, as well as some tables. There are bathrooms available on site, which is nice. You can not bring glass containers and no alcohol or other substances, so it's pretty family friendly. Supposedly you can find shark teeth on the beach, but we didn't see any.
