This a great place to spend some time outdoors. We stayed in the campground with a group of about 80 people and there was plenty of room for each site. The kids enjoyed the steams and the natural spring-fed pond was perfect for kayaking. The staff was very nice and available when needed.

We stayed here for a father-son campout. He was absolutely amazing. We absolutely felt like family there. Kids absolutely love the lake! And the late night ice cream was delicious!

Group of 7 adults and 2 kids rented 2 creekside tent sites for the weekend: NEGATIVES: someone at the main office advised us to "just throw rocks" at the local cat who was terrorizing our campsite. He chewed into our garbage bags with us right there, stole food, and drove my dog insane. We obviously weren't going to throw things at him so we had to deal with it. The ducks from the creek were just as bad. They would swarm our site while we tried to cook and once again drive the dog insane and try to steal food. My husband had to weed whack our campsite because the grass was extremely long and unmanageable in certain places. The tents sites are extremely close together as well. If we had neighbors we would've been 3ft from them. We were told to turn off music at 7pm (quiet hours are listed as 10pm-8am) as well. We had 1 small JBL speaker playing music on half volume when someone marched down to our site and made us turn it off. Meanwhile, another camp site blasted music the next night and scream laughed until 12am. The communication was completely lacking as well. There's a small coffee station near the office with a sign stating to help oneself and that the items are $2. We took half n half from the fridge and were later told it was actually $5 via text. We paid it but the signs should not contradict the actual prices. POSITIVES: The grounds themselves are gorgeous. The tent sites are well shaded and relatively flat. There were toilets or portajohns within easy walking distance from all the sites. Bathrooms and Showers were well maintained and clean, especially for a campground. The small lake was also very nice. There's plenty of water toys free for campers to use and a very nice sitting area and small beach. All in all this was a 50/50 experience. Our group managed to make the best of it and enjoy the positives, but it was EXHAUSTING keeping the ducks and cats out of stuff. The communication issues and contradictory signs and rules were absolutely ridiculous as well. Buffalo Gap Retreat would've have recieved a 5 star review from me had the customer service not been so terribly unprofessional and had the cats not been so harassing.
