Location and Accessibility

Stoney Creek Campground is situated at 72 Stoney Creek Rd, Great Cacapon, WV 25422, USA, placing it in a wonderfully secluded yet accessible part of West Virginia. Great Cacapon is a small, unincorporated community in Morgan County, known for its proximity to the Cacapon River and the natural beauty of the Appalachian Mountains. While the campground offers an "escape," it is still within reasonable reach for many West Virginia locals. For those driving, access generally involves navigating rural roads, which are part of the charm of reaching such a private and natural setting. Visitors should be mindful of the advice from previous campers: "No cell phone service and nearest gas station is 8 miles far. Make sure you have the map handy and gas in your car filled in before your trip!" This highlights the importance of preparation for reaching a truly disconnected location. Despite the limited cell service, the area's natural attractions, particularly the Cacapon River, are a major draw. The peace and quiet afforded by its somewhat remote location are key benefits, providing a genuine retreat from urban noise. Its position within Morgan County also means it's a relatively short drive from larger towns like Berkeley Springs, which offers additional amenities, shops, and dining options for before or after your camping adventure.

Camp store is close to the ground and has food and snacks options/drinks/anything for your need! A well maintained, clean site. Owner is very friendly and hospitable. No cell phone service and nearest gas station is 8 miles far. Make sure you have the map handy and gas in your car filled in before your trip! Enjoy a good eventful stay and a relaxing time!

Great place to kayak down the Cacapon river. We did it on one of the 90-100 degree days and although it was crazy hot we had a great time. The water was a bit more shallow than expected but towards the end of the trip it did get deeper. The rapids/rocks and boulders added a certain element of excitement and challenge on a rather simple ride. The food is also great!

Sites are very big and well maintained and very clean! No cell phone service so download offline maps before you venture out! Plop your folding chair in the river and enjoy a relaxing time!
