This is a gem just out of the main busy tourist area that is Berkely Springs and Cacapon Park. The owner Gary is polite pleasant and very helpful. The sites are big easy to level, with different levels of amenities available. Amazing forests and ponds mountains and wild life. The road to it is somewhat rough but partly due to weather. Had no problem with Motorhome pulling a Jeep. Close to many attractions in the area.
I can't say enough good things about my experience here! I stayed in a small self catered cabin which was perfect. Lovely porch with a swing over looking a lake. Fire circle and picnic table. Clean and cozy. I was a little chilly so the owner personally delivered me a heater, and then built up my fire for me! I felt at home and like family. Very quiet, safe and homey. Cabins are only the beginning of the offerings. Every thing from truly roughing out to hooking up your big ol rv or even renting out a lodge. Gary will take good care of you. So pleased.
Peaceful but run-down campsite with decaying picnic tables and overgrown camping areas. Lodge has one single-toilet bathroom for men and one for women. One shower for each as well. I brought a tent but campground manager placed me on hard-gravel site that would not accept tent stakes and it poured that night. Without a pulled-tight rain fly, my tent area inside got wet. When I asked him about this later, he said he thought it best for me to be by the lodge. I disagree, and there were tent sites on the other side of the lodge. Plus my spot was by a run-down home and right by the entrance, so I'm lying on the ground as cars and trucks roll by; though thankfully only a few. Now back, I see there are other well-kept campgrounds within 30 miles.
Having spent quite a lot of time walking around the campground all weekend, I was able to see all of it. It is a beautiful location and isolated. West of Berkeley Springs on rt 9, coming down the mountain was harrowing for my sister and bil pulling a large-ish camper. The camper sites are nice and primarily wooded. I rented a cabin (the only one available, I was told). I feel the need to educate about cabin B. It has a half bath, no shower. No hot water. No towels, washcloths, soap, shampoo or conditioner. Bring your own sheets and pillows(s). There is a "bath house" on property, which consisted of a tiny room behind the office kno, thank you). I used my sister's shower in her camper. There was an incredible amount of dust in the room. It obviously had not been dusted in preparation for my visit. I realize all the roads are dirt, and things get dusty, but they knew for weeks I would be checking in and neglected to clean it. There is a full-size refrigerator and microwave in the room. I hope the larger cabins are cleaner and have more amenities.
Wonderful remote campground. Localed on beautiful mountains of WV. It's a wooded campground with plenty of shade. They have cabins, tent and RV sites. We rented a cabin the first time we went and brought our new RV the second time. Grounds are well maintained. Cabin was very clean & was fully stocked for cooking. It's located near historic Berkeley springs. We really enjoyed seeing the natural hot springs and visiting the small shops. The campground has a small camp store & an adult and kids game room. Fully loaded with pool tables, darts, air hockey, ect, as well as library/sitting room. We had a lot of fun there, cooling off from the summer heat. They also have a small pond for catch and release. Facilities are clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!
