This detailed overview is designed to be a factual and helpful resource for Virginians planning their next outdoor adventure.
Buzzo Family Campground is located in Ripplemead, VA 24150, USA. Ripplemead is a small, unincorporated community nestled in Giles County, Virginia. This region is a gem in Southwest Virginia, part of the broader New River Valley, and is celebrated for its stunning natural beauty, outdoor recreational opportunities, and proximity to the historic New River.
For Virginia locals, the campground's setting in Ripplemead offers an authentic taste of rural Virginia, away from urban congestion, while still maintaining reasonable accessibility. Giles County is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, drawing visitors for activities like fishing, kayaking, hiking, and exploring the Appalachian Trail. The campground's location puts it squarely within this recreational haven.
While Ripplemead itself is a small community, it is generally accessible via well-maintained state routes that connect to larger towns in the area. Nearby towns such as Pearisburg, Pembroke, and even Blacksburg (home to Virginia Tech) offer more extensive services, including grocery stores, dining options, and medical facilities. This means campers at Buzzo Family Campground can enjoy a peaceful natural environment without being too far from necessary supplies or emergency services. The New River, a central feature of the region, is likely easily accessible from the campground, offering abundant opportunities for water-based activities. Its location in Giles County makes it an ideal spot for Virginians seeking to immerse themselves in the outdoor beauty of the New River Valley.
As a "Family Campground," Buzzo Family Campground typically offers a range of services designed to accommodate various types of campers and promote a comfortable stay. While specific detailed lists of services are not provided in the given information, common offerings at such establishments generally include:
-
Campsites (Tent & RV): The core service involves providing designated sites for both tent campers and recreational vehicles. RV sites commonly offer different levels of utility hookups.
-
Utility Hookups (for RVs): For RV sites, it is highly probable that they provide electrical hookups (often 30 and/or 50 amp service), water hookups, and potentially sewer hookups at individual sites or a central dump station. This allows RVers to enjoy modern conveniences.
-
Restroom Facilities: Clean and accessible restroom facilities are a fundamental offering at reputable campgrounds, typically including flush toilets and running water.
-
Shower Facilities: Many family campgrounds provide hot showers for campers, which is a valuable amenity after a day of outdoor activities.
-
Picnic Tables and Fire Rings: Individual campsites are usually equipped with a picnic table for outdoor dining and a fire ring or grill grate for campfires and cooking, essential for the traditional camping experience.
-
Access to Natural Features: Given its location in the New River Valley, the campground likely offers convenient access to natural attractions, potentially including river access for fishing, kayaking, or swimming, and nearby hiking trails. This natural access serves as a key "service" for outdoor recreation.
-
On-site Management/Staff: The operation of a campground implies on-site management or readily available staff to assist campers, manage reservations, and oversee adherence to park rules. However, it's important to note that one customer review highlighted a concerning interaction with individuals identified as "an old man and his wife driving a red side by side" who were described as "very threatening and aggressive" and claimed the property was private, screaming at visitors for using an outhouse while checking out the grounds. This suggests that interactions with staff or residents claiming authority may vary significantly and should be considered by prospective visitors.
For precise details on site types, specific utility offerings, and all amenities, contacting Buzzo Family Campground directly is highly recommended.
Based on the name "Buzzo Family Campground" and the provided customer reviews, here are some features and highlights for prospective visitors in Virginia:
-
"Wonderful Family Campground": This direct customer testimonial is a significant highlight, indicating that the campground is perceived as a positive environment for families. It suggests a family-friendly atmosphere where children and adults can enjoy their time together in nature.
-
Strong Camper Community (Positive): The review stating, "All the campers love being there including us," points to a supportive and enjoyable community among campers. This suggests that many visitors have positive interactions with fellow campers and appreciate the collective atmosphere.
-
Ideal for a Getaway (Implicit): As a family campground located in a scenic area of Virginia, it likely offers the opportunity to "get away from it all," providing a natural setting for relaxation and recreation.
-
Proximity to New River Valley: Situated in Ripplemead, the campground benefits from its location in the beautiful New River Valley, offering access to numerous outdoor activities such as fishing, kayaking, hiking, and scenic views.
However, it is crucial to address a concerning aspect highlighted by another customer review, which presents a significant counterpoint to the positive features:
-
Concerns Regarding Behavior of Individuals on Property: A negative review describes a "very threatening and aggressive" encounter with an "old man and his wife driving a red side by side" who screamed at visitors for allegedly trespassing while checking out the campgrounds, claiming it was "private property." This incident raises significant concerns about customer service, welcoming behavior towards potential visitors, and potentially unclear policies regarding property access. This directly contrasts with the expectation of a welcoming "family campground" and suggests potential issues with how visitors are treated by certain individuals on the premises.
Prospective campers should weigh these contrasting experiences carefully when considering Buzzo Family Campground for their next Virginia camping trip.

Wonderful family campground. All the campers love being there including us.
Went to check out campgrounds and the people were very threatening and aggressive an old man and his wife driving a red side by side screamed at us because my girlfriend used the out house and said we weren’t allowed to check out the camp grounds because it was private property. Definitely won’t be camping at a campground that allows this behavior
