I absolutely LOVE this place! The people there are amazing, very open and welcoming. After going for the first time over the 4th of July I couldn't stay away! I went back every weekend for several weeks and then ended up staying for several weeks in a row, working from there. The facilities are nice, there is a very nice heated pool and clean functional bath-house with hot showers. There is Wi-Fi but sometimes it gets overloaded on busy weekends. Honestly that's kind of good because it allows you to truly unplug and be present in the moment. There are cabins you can rent if you'd prefer to not stay in a tent for the weekend, and there is a kitchen in the Rec Hall that you are welcome to use. The BYOB parties in the Rec Hall on the weekends are a blast with various DJs and a great communal bonfire. There are also 2 pool tables in the Rec Hall that you can play for free. There are several places for Campers to pull in and even space for Class A motorhomes. I honestly credit my experience at Camp Davis for allowing me to become comfortable with my own body, a very big missing piece of my self acceptance and personal hurdle to loving myself and true happiness. While it may not have all of the amenities of a luxury camping resort, it is super fun, amazingly friendly, and an overall amazing time!
Jan 16, 2025 · Jesse-Burton NicholsonBest campground around! The Seasonal Campers are super friendly and very helpful. The pool is amazing with plenty of seating for everyone. The pool parties and hot shot boys are a blast. Love the variety of DJs throughout the season. The restrooms are very clean.
Dec 31, 2023 · Robb KelsoCigarettes and non-stop smoking was extremely prevalent and the most visible thing during the weekend. I’ve never seen anything like it. The owner is super nice but he has to do something with the smoking addiction most of his seasonal/permanent people living there have which causes disruptive experiences for visitors. For example, one of the things he could do is setting non-smoking rules in the most used areas like the rec hall lounge and setting up specific smoking areas across camp. The campground is small and cozy which is nice. However because of this, theres only a few areas where most people congregate for events. These are, especially at night, the rec hall lounge and the bonfire outside of it. Those are cool areas (in theory) where the events in which most people go for the weekends spend their nights. However, because of the non-stop smoking, it became nearly impossible to be there. I was at the rec hall, and the smell of cigarettes and people smoking was everywhere. Worst part is that it doesn’t stop. For example, I was speaking to some folks there, all which are permanent residents of the campgrounds, and they would smoke, wait maybe 4 minutes max, and pop another cigarette, so on so forth. When this happened I was like ok, let me head outside around the rec hall and talk to other folks. But guess what?? There was also smoking everywhere outside too, by more permanent residents, who also couldn’t stop smoking. So, the rec hall and the area surrounding it was full of nicotine smell the whole night. So ok, I went a bit further out into the bonfire section, and guess what? You guessed it right, more permanent folks there smoking. So the only option left at that point was to head back to bed. It was a sad sight to see. These people, since I spoke to several of them, where all good people (although a bit selfish to put others at risk with their smoking), but you can tell they are deep in this addiction. And is not just one or two, is a whole community permanently staying here that has a nicotine addiction which ruined the experience for non-smokers. I sat back and saw how they would just keep taking out cigarettes like it was water, none will tell the other to take a break, as they themselves were also deep in this addiction. I consumed more cigarette smoke on this weekend than I have for at least the past five years, no kidding. I’m giving it two stars instead of one because I come from a good place, the owners were very nice, and the people there just need help. However, I can’t recommend this place to anyone unless they themselves are a smoker, or they call ahead of time and ask if something has been done to control the smoking areas. Otherwise, believe me when I tell you that you won’t be able to escape the nicotine smell anywhere where the main events are held which is in the rec hall and surrounding areas. I really hope those areas become non-smoking areas so that EVERYONE can enjoy and have a good time without feeling suffocated.
