Features / Highlights

Camp Dearborn stands out with several key features and highlights that contribute to its appeal as a premier recreational destination for Michigan locals. These attributes underscore its value as a versatile and family-friendly getaway.

  • Extensive Recreational Opportunities: A major highlight is the sheer breadth of activities available on-site. From an 18-hole golf course to two man-made lakes with sandy beaches for swimming and various boating options (pedal boats, rowboats, kayaks, canoes), the camp offers something for every interest. Sports courts, playgrounds, and organized activities further enrich the experience.
  • Diverse Accommodation Options: Camp Dearborn provides flexibility with its lodging, offering "room for campers and RVs" for traditional camping enthusiasts, alongside comfortable "cabins" for those seeking a more structured stay. This caters to a wide range of preferences and group sizes.
  • Impressive Property Upkeep: Recent reviews emphasize a significant positive transformation in the camp's condition, noting it "looks exactly as it should" and is "top notch." This commitment to maintenance ensures a clean and appealing environment for visitors.

  • Owned by City of Dearborn: As a municipal park, it often implies a focus on community service and family-oriented recreation, rather than purely commercial aims, which can lead to a more community-centric experience.

While one review did highlight specific issues with bathroom cleanliness during a busy period, the overarching feedback points to a vast, well-equipped, and much-improved facility. These features collectively contribute to Camp Dearborn's reputation as a valuable recreational asset for Michigan locals.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a large, municipally-owned recreational facility, Camp Dearborn's pricing structure and "promotions" typically differ from commercial enterprises. Rather than frequent discount codes or seasonal sales, its value proposition often lies in its comprehensive amenities and stable pricing for its wide range of offerings.

However, certain considerations can be viewed as ongoing "offers" or benefits for Michigan locals:

  • Daily Entrance Fees for Non-Campers: While campers pay for their sites or cabins, day-use visitors can access many of the facilities by paying a daily entrance fee. This allows locals to enjoy the beaches, playgrounds, and picnic areas without requiring an overnight stay.
  • Resident vs. Non-Resident Rates: As it is owned by the City of Dearborn, there may be preferential rates for Dearborn residents for certain services or accommodations, reflecting a benefit for taxpayers and contributing to its "close to home" appeal. It's always advisable to inquire about residency-based discounts.
  • Package Deals for Activities: While not a promotional discount, the camp often offers packages for activity rentals (e.g., boat rentals, golf course access) which can provide value compared to purchasing each activity separately.
  • Special Event Pricing: For specific events or holiday weekends, pricing for camping or day-use may be adjusted, which could be seen as a special offering for those particular times.

One review mentions a cost of "$67 a night," which, while perceived as high by that individual for the service received during their specific visit, needs to be evaluated within the context of the vast amenities and popularity of the location, especially for RV and cabin sites. It's important for prospective visitors to check the most current rate schedules directly with Camp Dearborn, as prices can vary by type of accommodation, season, and duration of stay.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information on rates, availability, and any specific package deals, it is best to contact Camp Dearborn directly.

Very pretty place. My rating is low because of the bathrooms. We camped with a large group from Thursday to Sunday. During that time the bathroom was not cleaned. By Saturday there was almost no toilet paper and 2 toilets were clogged. I called the office and they said they would send a cleaning crew out. They did not. On Sunday morning, just as everyone is leaving, they closed the bathroom for cleaning. Just when everyone wants to have one last trip to the bathroom before getting on the road. For $67 a night, pretty poor service.

What a difference camp Dearborn has gone through. When I was last here in the '90s it was in disrepair, the swan bones didn't work and the place looked run down. Down. Fast forward to 2025, camp. Dearborn looks exactly as it should. Although we didn't stay the camp and the golf course look top notch. They have cabins and they have room for campers and RVs. It looks like a good place to get away, close to home.

We had a back in, full hookup site. The sites were narrow, but long. So there wasn't a ton of space between campers, but it wasn't bad because we had the space behind our camper. You need about 50ft of water hose. Beach and playgrounds were nice. Campground is huge. The couple staff members that we talked to were friendly and helpful. Decorations were cute. They had dance parties every night, but we didn't go, my kids would rather ride bikes. The website says NO electric scooters so my kids didn't bring theirs. But everybody had them, so next time we probably will bring them I don't think that rule is enforced. We definitely plan on going back.

There were only a few sites we could reserve online (in September), even though there were lots of empty sites while we were there. We were stuck near multiple noisy neighbors that were loud late into the night. Then garbage trucks came to empty the dumpsters by us at 4am. Barely slept.
