Location and Accessibility

Carthage RV Campground is strategically located at 1294 Northeast Lp, Carthage, TX 75633, USA. This position along the Northeast Loop provides excellent accessibility for RVers traveling through East Texas, particularly those using major routes that intersect near Carthage. Being "just off the highway" makes it incredibly convenient for quick overnight stays, allowing travelers to easily pull in and out without significant detours.

Despite its proximity to the highway, a significant advantage noted by a reviewer is that they "did not hear any highway noise at night." This blend of accessibility and a peaceful sleeping environment is a highly desirable quality for any RV park. Carthage, as the county seat of Panola County, offers a range of essential services and amenities that are easily accessible from the campground. This includes grocery stores, fuel stations, local restaurants, and other retail options, ensuring campers can conveniently restock supplies or enjoy a meal out.

The park's internal layout is also designed with accessibility in mind, particularly for larger rigs. While the front of the park has "smaller, shorter" sites and concrete roads, the "Back of park is the big rig area" with "long and wide" sites and gravel roads. All pads, however, are concrete. This differentiation caters to various RV sizes, ensuring that even the largest motorhomes and trailers can find a suitable spot. Although one reviewer mentioned that hookups at the end of the pad required unhooking their car to prevent it from hanging into the road, the overall spaciousness of the sites (up to 90' long) generally allows for convenient parking without unhitching for many.

This is an older campground but pretty well maintained. Front of the park, sites are smaller, shorter and roads are concrete. Back of park is the big rig area and sites are long and wide. Roads here are gravel. All pads are concrete. Our only gripe is that the hookups are at the end of the pad. In order to hook up we had to be far enough back that we had to unhook our car so it wouldn't hang out into the road. We don't have satellite so we're very pleased with the cable TV. Very nice dog walk area. The clubhouse building has a recreation room, a kitchen, laundry and restrooms. We will stay here again when in the area.

I needed a place to stay overnight. Torrential rains had slowed me down. Very convenient, just off the highway but I did not hear any highway noise at night. Person checking me in was great. Very helpful. Sites are large with long (90') concrete pads. I did not have to unhook. 12' wide seems to be the standard but a little wider would be nice since trailer with slide outs are 12'. Without a pad for a picnic table or chairs it doesn't leave much room. Rec center, laundry, rest rooms and showers. All appeared very clean. As everywhere in the area, very wet in the grassy areas. Roadways were good. A little pricier than I prefer but so much better than the place down the road that was cheaper. Good Sam helped. I would recommend and I would return if I needed a place to stop while traveling.

Great location for a single night stopover, if you are traveling US Route 59. Pads and utilities are good. Front section has paved roads back section has gravel roads. Highway noise is considerable, so bring your noise maker.

It's expensive. You are only allowed 1 vehicle you have to pay extra for 2 vehicles. It's a okay place. It is clean. Folks do not do speed limit in park. Staff depends on who is working depends on who has friendly attitude and who will not.
