Yellowwood Campground is located near Nashville, IN 47448, USA. This places it deep within the scenic Yellowwood State Forest, which is situated in the rolling hills of Brown County, Indiana. This region is renowned for its picturesque landscapes, autumn foliage, and a strong emphasis on outdoor recreation and arts.
Accessing Yellowwood Campground typically involves driving through Yellowwood State Forest. While the specific address is given as Nashville, IN 47448, it's important to note that the campground is not directly within the town of Nashville but rather within the expansive forest. This contributes to its "secluded" and "private" atmosphere, as mentioned in customer reviews. Visitors generally reach the campground via State Road 46 or State Road 135, which are main arteries through Brown County. Once inside the state forest, follow signs for the campground. Forest roads are usually well-maintained, but can be unpaved or gravel in certain sections, so drivers should be prepared for typical state forest road conditions.
The remote nature of the campground is a key feature, appealing to those who desire a true wilderness experience. However, its proximity to Nashville, the county seat of Brown County, means that essential services are not far away. Within a reasonable driving distance, campers can access supplies, dining options, and local attractions that characterize the quaint, artistic community of Nashville. This balance of seclusion with convenient access to town amenities makes Yellowwood Campground practical for a range of campers.
The presence of Yellowwood Lake within the state forest, and likely accessible from or near the campground, is a significant draw. Customer reviews explicitly mention "Good fishing," indicating that the lake is a prime feature for anglers. This integration into the natural environment of Yellowwood State Forest is a major part of the campground's appeal and accessibility to outdoor recreation.
As a campground located within an Indiana State Forest, Yellowwood Campground typically operates under the standardized fee structure set by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR). These facilities generally do not offer frequent promotional deals or "special offers" in the same way a private, commercial campground might. Fees for camping are usually set daily rates, and any applicable discounts would come through state-wide programs or passes rather than specific campground promotions.
For example, frequent visitors to Indiana State Parks and Forests might benefit from purchasing an Indiana State Parks Annual Entrance Permit, which covers entrance fees to all DNR properties for a year. However, this permit does not typically cover camping fees, which are separate. Any potential fee reductions, such as those for seniors or veterans, would be part of broader DNR policies and would need to be verified on the official Indiana DNR website or by contacting the Yellowwood State Forest office directly.
Prospective campers should consult the official Indiana DNR website for the most current information on camping fees at Yellowwood Campground and any relevant passes or policies that might offer overall savings for their outdoor adventures in Indiana. It is always advisable to verify current pricing and regulations directly before planning your trip to ensure you have the most accurate and up-to-date information.

we did not camp here because our TT is to big...however we checked it out.....really nice quaint and private secluded area. If we tent camped...this would be perfect. Quite beautiful
Jan 07, 2024 · Patti AndrewsBeautiful little park. Good fishing extremely well taken care of. Very clean
Jun 25, 2024 · Brad ReelDecent sites for primitive camping with nobody working during the weekend and zero showers. If you need firewood, either get to the office before 4pm on Friday, bring your own, or bring tools to get some from the woods. They make sure you paid your fee by driving through during the evening, though not having rangers around when visitors will be there is inexcusable. Also, the lack of shower facilities, especially if someone is camping long term, in a primitive area with zero privacy falls short compared to other states like West Virginia or Virginia. For $13 a night in an area that doesn't provide anything but a site on tax payer land seems excessive. I can't say don't go, though I will find someplace better. Management needs to evaluate whether they are there for the paycheck or to serve the taxpayer/customer.
May 06, 2022 · Matthew BizzarriThis place is gorgeous and I loved learning to paddleboard here
Jul 18, 2021 · Courtney Castagne-McCavitThis particular spot is a youth campground. You have to go to the south end of the lake to get to the regular campground.
