We have been planning this trip since January and it did not disappoint!! Our initial drive down to the campground had us a little worried as the roads are somewhat narrow (we were pulling a 24ft camper and our friends have a class A 37ft) but we made it!! Steve the owner was very nice in helping us get set up on our sites. Full hook up was awesome!! The campground itself is quiet. The only drawback I’d say is having to drive a distance for some of the things we did but the area is quite beautiful tucked into the Holsten Mountain. Another added bonus was the on site laundry which was nice. We drove to town one day and took a tour of the Rocky Mount Historical site lots of history and the tour was great. We hiked up Holsten Mountain right behind the campground and did a hike to Laurel Falls which was beautiful. Our last day we biked the Virginia Creeper trail from Alvarado to Abington. A must if you’re in the area!! Overall we had a wonderful time and hope to maybe return again in the fall when the colors are popping! One more thing we had dinner at Tennessee Hills Distillery another great place for BBQ, bourbon and great service!
Apr 17, 2025 · JuJu411We had a great stay here. We were staying the 4th of July weekend. It was extremely quiet. The campground was clean and well cared for and surprisingly peaceful. There were very few campers for a holiday weekend. There is a community fire pit, a few cabins, a few tent sites and FHU for the RVs. We were in a 23 foot travel trailer. I can see how it might be tight for big rigs, so not advisable. Smaller RVs, this is the best kept secret. It is super close to the South Holston River, which is an excellent trout fishery. The wifi was very fast but there was very few people there. My only con is that the road leading into the campground is very narrow and that the sewer connection at our site was uphill from our connection.
Jul 10, 2024 · ScottSecond time staying here. Steve is fantastic he takes great care of the facility. Thank you for allowing horses its really appreciated. Nice open air barn. Full hookup for trailers. The Morrell trail is a nice single track. Just steep, not overly rocky, some switch backs.
Jun 24, 2018 · A WannerVery peaceful and quiet. Secluded just next to national forest. Note: when GPS says you have arrived, you actually need to drive a couple of miles more. Road is pretty narrow so use caution and hope you don't meet anyone.
