Clear Creek Campground is located at Clear Creek Camp C Rd, Salt Lick, KY 40371, USA. This address places it within a particularly scenic and secluded part of Kentucky, likely within or adjacent to the Daniel Boone National Forest, a known hub for outdoor recreation. For local Kentuckians, reaching Salt Lick typically involves navigating state routes that provide access to more rural and forested areas.

A significant advantage for accessibility, as noted by customer reviews, is that "Roads are all paved in the area." This ensures a relatively smooth journey to the campground, even for campers and RVs, which is often a concern when venturing into more remote locations. While the roads are paved, they are described as "Local traffic on a dead end road," suggesting minimal through traffic, which further contributes to the quiet and secluded atmosphere. It is important to note that cell service is generally unavailable ("No cell service"), so visitors should plan accordingly, perhaps by downloading maps or communicating their arrival plans before reaching the immediate vicinity of the campground. Despite the lack of cell service, the paved access makes Clear Creek Campground a readily accessible haven for those seeking a peaceful escape into Kentucky’s natural beauty.

Clear Creek Campground provides essential services geared towards a rustic yet comfortable camping experience. While it emphasizes a natural setting, it offers key amenities to support your stay.

  • Campsites for Campers and Tents: The campground features "level spots all ok for campers," indicating suitability for both RVs and tent camping. These spots also offer "good spacing between spots," ensuring privacy.

  • Vault Toilets: "Older Vault Toilets" are available, and reviews confirm they were found to be "clean" during visits, providing basic restroom facilities.

  • First-Come, First-Served (FCFS) System: The campground operates on a FCFS basis, meaning no reservations are needed, offering flexibility for spontaneous trips.

  • Hiking Trail Access: Direct access to "hiking trails in the area" is a notable service, promoting outdoor activity and exploration.

  • No Cell Service: While some might see this as a feature, it's also a 'service' in that it enables a true digital detox, encouraging a deeper connection with nature and your companions.

  • No Dump Station: A review explicitly states, "I did not find a dump station," so campers with RVs should plan accordingly for waste disposal before or after their stay.

Clear Creek Campground offers several compelling features and highlights that make it an attractive option for local Kentuckians seeking a specific type of outdoor adventure:

  • Secluded and Out-of-the-Way Setting: A primary highlight is its "pretty nice and out of the way campground" nature. This ensures a truly peaceful and quiet experience, far from the hustle and bustle, ideal for relaxation and connecting with nature.

  • Excellent Spacing Between Sites: "Good spacing between spots" provides a sense of privacy and prevents overcrowding, enhancing the serene atmosphere.

  • Paved Access Roads: The fact that "Roads are all paved in the area" is a significant advantage, making access easier for all types of vehicles, including campers and RVs, despite its secluded location.

  • Direct Access to Hiking Trails: For outdoor enthusiasts, the presence of "hiking trails in the area" provides immediate opportunities for exploration, exercise, and enjoying the natural surroundings.

  • Clean Vault Toilets: While basic, the fact that the "bathrooms are not bad and were clean" is a highly valued feature in primitive campgrounds, ensuring a more comfortable stay.

  • Digital Detox Opportunity: The lack of cell service offers a unique chance for a complete digital detox, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the outdoor experience without interruptions from calls, texts, or social media.

  • First-Come, First-Served Flexibility: The FCFS policy offers spontaneity, allowing Kentuckians to decide on a whim to head out for a quick, refreshing camping trip.

As Clear Creek Campground operates on a first-come, first-served (FCFS) basis, it typically does not offer traditional promotions, seasonal discounts, or special offers that require pre-booking or reservations. The simplicity of its operational model means that the camping fees are generally consistent.

While specific pricing details were not provided in the given information, FCFS campgrounds, especially those in national forest or similar natural settings, usually have a flat nightly fee per campsite. Visitors should be prepared to pay upon arrival using a self-pay system, which often involves an envelope and a drop box. It is always a good idea to bring small bills or exact change for payment. For the most current fee information or any potential updates on the campground's policies, it is best to check the relevant Daniel Boone National Forest website or contact a local ranger district office, as indicated in the contact section below.

This primitive campground is nestled into the woods along side a creek near Cave Run Lake. Cell phone service here is limited at best, and the closest store is a couple miles down the road. Clear Creek Shooting range is right up the road, very close and very clean. Toilet houses are on site, as well as dumpsters. Wildlife spotting is very real here, and there are bears in the area. Overall, if you are looking for a primitive campground, this is a great place to spend a weekend!
