Its unique peninsula setting provides abundant lake access and stunning water views from many of its campsites.
Accessing Zilpo Campground is relatively straightforward, although visitors should be prepared for a drive through forested, winding roads typical of a national forest setting. While the address provided is a specific point, it marks the general area of the campground's entrance on the peninsula. Detailed directions from the U.S. Forest Service or popular navigation apps should be consulted for the most accurate route, as roads within national forests can sometimes have specific signage.

Promotions or Special Offers:
Zilpo Campground, being part of the National Forest System and managed by a concessionaire, typically adheres to a standardized fee structure determined by federal guidelines and operational costs. While it may not frequently run "promotions" in the commercial sense, there are several ways visitors can find value or potential discounts:
- America the Beautiful Passes: Holders of the America the Beautiful – The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass (especially the Senior Pass or Access Pass) may receive discounts on camping fees. This is a common benefit at federally managed campgrounds.
- Seasonal Rates: Like many campgrounds, rates might vary slightly based on the season (e.g., peak summer versus shoulder seasons or off-season). Booking during less busy times could offer a more peaceful experience, if not a direct price reduction.
- Advance Booking: While not a discount, booking well in advance, especially for popular weekends and holidays, ensures site availability. Reservations for Zilpo can often be made through Recreation.gov.
- Group Rates: For very large groups, it is always worth inquiring directly with the campground management (through the provided phone number) about potential group rates or special arrangements for reserving multiple sites or a group area, if available.
It is always recommended to check the official U.S. Forest Service website for the Daniel Boone National Forest or Recreation.gov for the most current and accurate information on fees, reservation policies, and any applicable discounts for Zilpo Campground. Direct contact with the campground staff via phone can also provide personalized details.

Beautiful spot for a weekend getaway with my family! Loved the convenience of having direct access to cave run lake. Our site and cabin were both as clean as you can get when outdoors and the cold AC in the cabin was very refreshing after a hot day spent on the lake! I loved seeing the wildlife and the fact that anything I needed the staff was there to help without any complaints! We will be making a trip up very frequently :)
We recently stayed here for Memorial Day weekend. This was my first trip there in 17 years and it was nothing short of amazing. The entrance is beautiful, you feel like you are driving in to a mountain retreat. Our campsite was clean and all amenities were available. The staff was so friendly and so welcoming. We’ve already booked again for July!
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Zilpo Campground on the F loop, and it was an unforgettable experience! The natural beauty of Daniel Boone National Forest is breathtaking, and Zilpo Campground offers the perfect setting to immerse yourself in it. What made my stay truly exceptional were the incredible staff members, especially Buffalo and Lisa. From the moment I arrived, they were warm, welcoming, and genuinely caring. Buffalo’s extensive knowledge of the area and Lisa’s friendly demeanor made me feel right at home. They went above and beyond to ensure that all campers had a fantastic experience. Their dedication to maintaining the campground and their commitment to visitor satisfaction are truly commendable. The F loop itself was serene and well-maintained, providing a peaceful retreat amidst nature. Whether it was hiking, enjoying the lake, or simply relaxing by the campfire, every moment was enriched by the tranquil surroundings and the wonderful company of other campers. If you’re looking for a campground that offers stunning scenery, excellent facilities, and outstanding staff, Zilpo Campground is the place to go. I can’t recommend it highly enough, and I look forward to returning in the future. Thank you, Buffalo and Lisa, for making my stay so memorable!
We stayed in G-Loop and had a wonderful experience! Our camp hosts Jason and Lisa were phenomenal, have never had such wonderful sweet hosts. They worked so hard to make everyone's stay comfortable, picking up debris after hurricane damage, and even hosting a new tradition of trick-or-treat in the campground. Such a sweet place with precious memories. Our campsite was SO comfortable, the place was very clean, and the lake was so beautiful! Had a wonderful relaxing time away. Yes there are mosquitos and ticks while hiking- just part of the outdoors- bring bug spray for hikes and some Therm-o-cell citronella for the evenings at camp and you'll be just fine. Happy camping!
