More than just a campground, this extensive, family-owned facility is a Western PA institution, celebrated for its ability to host major festivals and unique gatherings while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for individual campers during scheduled periods. Operating since 1973, the Cooper family has dedicated over 40 years to developing this 450+ acre property into a dynamic space where community, events, and nature converge.
The site is renowned across the East Coast for hosting large-scale events, most famously the Pennsic War, a massive annual medieval recreation gathering, and the high-energy Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival. These events, which can attract thousands of attendees, showcase the venue's exceptional capacity and logistical expertise. However, the appeal of Cooper's Lake extends far beyond its events calendar. It offers a variety of terrains—from wooded areas and rolling hills to open, mowed fields—and a beautiful 10-acre lake, providing a diverse and picturesque backdrop for any outdoor retreat. Visitors consistently praise the dedicated staff for their continuous efforts to improve the grounds and amenities, making it a reliable and cherished ‘home away from home’ for annual visitors.

I love it there, the Home away from home. For the past 21 years I have been coming there for the event called Pennsic, first two weeks of August. They are constantly improving the grounds and amenities
Aug 11, 2025 · Olya NovozhilovaExtremely amazing campground. The port a potties were always clean and well taken care of. The pond/lake was clean and full of fish, everything seemed to be well taken care of no matter what part of the campground you went to
Jun 16, 2025 · JakeThe Coopers are very responsive to requests. The campground is pleasant, and amenities complete. The store is well stocked. There are high iron levels in the water, so take care when washing laundry.
Aug 20, 2025 · Kat RobinsonLots of fun camping and all the kids with squirt guns and signs that say honk if you want to get wet. Priceless experience.
Jun 14, 2025 · Billie Jo LinemanWe've been coming here for several years and we've never been disappointed. The campsites are great, the bathrooms and showers are always clean, and the store has anything you might have forgotten to bring along. (Seriously, we bought an air mattress at their store last year when we realized the one we had was a twin size, lol). We're huge fans of the Band Jam - the owner of the campground even performed this year! We look forward to being there every year, and we'll keep coming back for many years to come.
