Introduction / Overview
For New York residents looking for the quintessential summer escape, East Sidney Lake Campground in the rolling hills of the Catskill Foothills offers an idyllic, family-friendly retreat. More than just a place to pitch a tent or park an RV, this destination—operated as part of the East Sidney Lake Park Recreation Area—is a hub for water-based fun, relaxation, and unplugged quality time. It successfully blends the natural beauty of Upstate New York with essential modern conveniences.
East Sidney Lake is a significant feature of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' flood control project, but its modern function is to provide exceptional outdoor recreation. The lake itself covers approximately 210 acres, offering a clean, safe environment for activities ranging from swimming to motorized boating. The campground is well-regarded by local users who appreciate its quiet, safe atmosphere, and its focus on seasonal and long-term stays, which contributes to a friendly, community-like feel throughout the summer months.
A recent customer review captured the spirit of the park, noting that it is "alot of fun but also relaxing," making it suitable for both active families and those simply seeking a peaceful weekend by the water. With powered sites available for RVs, clean facilities, and an abundance of lakeside activities, East Sidney Lake Campground is a compelling choice for New Yorkers aiming to make the most of the camping season.

Stopped in last night and was able to use a powered site for the camper. Was lucky one of the staff was around, office hours seem to be Mon- Friday 10am-4pm or so. Cash or cheque. Mostly long term RV sites, it was very quiet (Sunday night late August). Each site has a picnic table. Shower blocks and toilets were fine. Not too many bugs. Beautiful lake and volleyball by the water with boat landing. Would be a great place for families to spend a week and relax. Felt very safe.
Aug 18, 2025 · S GfI come here almost every weekend in the summer and it is alot of fun but also relaxing there is swimming, boating, tubing, bonfires, canoes, fishing
Aug 24, 2025 · Ashley DarcyWell, it was inexpensive. We were traveling through the area and have always had luck at Corps of Engineer campsites before. We were given a "site" in the parking lot. She said it would be easier to set up and take down there. Had water and electric. Neighboring site had several cars and a small motorhome, but extra car's intruded on were I needed to set up. Water hose was stretched to the max. I could just barely unhook the 5th wheel to level my RV. This is primarily set up for seasonal camping. I would not recommend it for travelers.
Jun 13, 2018 · Karl ZarinsWe paid for a week and had made the reservation a couple of months ago. The "site" they gave us was not a campsite but electric and water on the the side of the road. We left and went to a private CG. We'll see if they give us back our money or not. $140. Very depressing. Also not drinking water unless you boiled it. Very depressing place.
Jul 03, 2015 · BARB JOHNVery crowded and unattractive...campers parked too close to each other and boats parked aimlessly all over the place. Can barely drive through there...
