These areas are not just places to stay; they are hubs for community connection, family fun, and personal rejuvenation, often just a short drive from home. The development of Grundy County Lake as a multi-purpose recreation area, beginning in the early 2000s, speaks to a vision of providing modern, comfortable, and engaging outdoor spaces for all of us here in Iowa.

This address places the campground within Grundy County, a central location in Iowa that is easily accessible for residents from various parts of the state. The park itself encompasses a 255-acre recreation area, with the 40-acre Grundy County Lake as its centerpiece.

Navigating to the campground is straightforward, though it's important to note a specific detail mentioned by a past visitor: "The campground entrance is several hundred ft past the park entrance. Down a gravel road a quarter mile to a paved road to the right." This helpful tip ensures that first-time visitors can find their way directly to the camping area without confusion. The presence of a paved road leading into the campground suggests good internal accessibility once you've made it past the initial gravel stretch.

Dike, while a smaller community, offers essential services like gas stations and potentially small grocery stores for last-minute supplies. For more extensive shopping or dining options, larger towns and cities in the surrounding area are within a reasonable driving distance. The campground is also notable for its connection to a paved hiking/biking trail, the Grundy County Lake Trail, which circles the lake and continues north, even crossing under Highway 20. Promotions or Special Offers

As Grundy County Lake Campground is operated as a county park facility under the Grundy County Conservation Board, it typically adheres to a standardized fee structure rather than offering frequent commercial promotions or special discounts. Public county parks in Iowa generally focus on providing affordable access to outdoor recreation for all residents.

Based on current available information, some key points regarding fees and potential cost considerations include:

  • Standard Site Rates: Camping fees are set, with regular sites with electric hookups at $22.00 per night. Full-service sites (electric plus water and sewer) are $26.00 per night, and tent sites are $16.00 per night. These rates are consistent across the board.

  • No Reservations Accepted: A crucial point for planning is that Grundy County does not take any reservations at any of their camping areas. This means all sites, including those at Grundy County Lake Campground, are available on a first-come, first-served basis. While this isn't a "promotion," it affects how campers plan their visit, especially during peak season.

Any "promotions" would more likely be general county-wide initiatives for parks, rather than specific to this campground. These might include:

  • Annual Passes: Some county park systems offer annual passes that might provide discounts on day-use activities or access to multiple county facilities, though specific information for Grundy County isn't detailed for this campground.

  • Senior or Resident Discounts: While not explicitly stated for this park, some county systems may offer reduced rates for senior citizens or county residents on certain amenities, but this would need direct confirmation.

As a professional content writer committed to factual accuracy, it is important not to speculate on unconfirmed promotions. Therefore, for the most current and precise information regarding camping fees, any potential discounts (if applicable for certain groups), or operational policies (like first-come, first-served site availability), prospective campers should always directly contact the Grundy County Conservation Board. They are the authoritative source for all pricing and operational details for Grundy County Lake Campground.

The campground entrance is several hundred ft past the park entrance. Down a gravel road a quarter mile to a paved road to the right. 61 sites some back-ins some pull throughs all well spaced shared water spigots. 10, 30, 50 amp at each site. I read on a previous review that there were only two restrooms, there are 6. Three on the front of the building and three on the rear. These are all family style, shower, vanity, commode all with ample room. The three in the front were open though the one on the right did not have a sign on the door. Of the three on the back the two to the left were open but the one to the left marked handicap was locked. I don't know why because I could tell it was a dead bolt located much higher than handicap would allow. As such I assume it was out of order. Our site was a pull through between the shower house and the playground personally more interested in the shower house than the playground. The playground had the usual swings, a thing to climb in and slide down and a tunnel to crawl through. The grass is well tended and there are well tended grass walking paths of decent width that wander through the tall native grasses. Thought we would have the park to ourselves being mid-week first week in Oct. Close there were six already parked and one more arrived after we setup. We pass through Iowa often and get tired of the same ole roads and enjoy different corn and soybean fields. This campground is a jewel 💎.

This is a modern campground that's nice and has a mix of back-in and pull-through sites. Rates in '21 were an affordable $15/night for water & electric hookups. The bath/shower house were clean and appear to be well cared for. This is a "newer" campground so the trees are still young and don't provide much shade.

Always a great place to stay. I have a 42’ fifth wheel camper and I can back it into the spots here with room to spare. They built this campground the right way.
