Texas RVing is all about variety – from bustling urban parks to serene lakeside retreats. Arp, Texas, is a small, tight-knit community nestled in the famous piney woods of East Texas. It’s a place where life moves at a slightly slower pace, and genuine hospitality is a way of life. While it may not boast grand attractions, Arp offers the essential amenities needed for daily living, including local fuel stations and eateries. This quaint setting allows visitors at Happy Trails RV Park to experience authentic East Texas charm, providing a peaceful escape from the noise and rush of larger cities, yet still being within a reasonable distance of more comprehensive services in nearby towns like Tyler or Longview.
This article will provide an honest and informative look at Happy Trails RV Park, helping you decide if it’s the right fit for your RV adventures in Texas. We’ll cover its location and accessibility, the services you can expect, its unique features and highlights – drawing from real customer feedback – and how to get in touch. We’ll also address why this park might be particularly suitable for locals seeking a specific type of RV experience, emphasizing transparency about both its strengths and potential challenges, as indicated by various customer experiences.
Happy Trails RV Park is located at 509 E Longview St, Arp, TX 75750, USA. This address places it squarely within the small town of Arp, in the heart of East Texas. For Texans, accessibility to local amenities is often a key consideration, and Arp provides the basics. As one reviewer mentioned, "Local town has fuel and other amenities needed to get by." This means you can easily refuel your vehicle, pick up basic supplies, and enjoy a local meal without having to venture far from the park.
While Arp offers a quiet, rural feel, it is also reasonably accessible to larger East Texas cities like Tyler and Longview. These cities provide more extensive shopping, dining, medical facilities, and entertainment options for anything beyond what Arp can offer. This balance allows guests at Happy Trails RV Park to enjoy the peaceful country atmosphere while still being within reach of broader services when needed.
It's important to note that the park's location, being in a smaller town, may mean proximity to elements common in rural areas, such as potential train noise, as indicated by one reviewer. However, for those seeking a "peaceful sleep and no hassle" in a down-home country setting, the general accessibility to local essentials and the overall quietude of Arp are significant advantages.

- Restaurant with Good Food Nearby: The mention of "good bisquits and gravy at the restaurant" by a reviewer suggests there’s a local eatery within easy reach, adding a convenient dining option for guests.
It is important to acknowledge that some past reviews suggest potential challenges such as noise from trains, muddy conditions, and concerns regarding security of personal property and management interactions. While the positive aspects highlight the genuine hospitality and peaceful nature for many, prospective visitors, especially for longer stays, may wish to directly address any specific concerns with the park management to ensure their expectations are met.
As a content writer, it's crucial to provide factual information. While specific, ongoing "promotions" or publicized discounts beyond standard pricing tiers are not typically available through public information for a park like Happy Trails RV Park, their pricing structure is generally designed to accommodate various lengths of stay. For RV parks, this typically means:
- Daily Rates: For short-term stays, such as overnight or weekend visitors.
- Weekly Rates: Often a slightly reduced rate per night for stays of a week, encouraging longer visits.
- Monthly Rates: The most cost-effective option for extended stays, providing significant savings compared to daily or weekly rates. This is particularly relevant for those staying for work, visiting family for an extended period, or seeking a long-term base.
Given the "down home country" ethos, any "special offers" might be more informal or based on direct conversation with the owners, who are described as "good hearted" and willing to "do just about anything to make your stay feel welcomed." The park is particularly well-suited for Texans visiting family in the Arp area, as one loyal customer attests to staying "every year" for this very reason. It provides a familiar, "no hassle" base, allowing visitors to spend their time connecting with loved ones rather than dealing with complicated logistics. The presence of local amenities like fuel and a restaurant with "good bisquits and gravy" means that daily necessities and simple pleasures are always within easy reach, reinforcing the convenience factor for residents.
The hands-on involvement of the "good hearted" owners is another significant draw for locals. In Texas, personal connections and genuine hospitality are highly valued, and the willingness of the owners to go the extra mile to make guests feel "welcomed" fosters a sense of community and trust that can be hard to find in larger, more impersonal establishments. This personal approach can make a significant difference, especially for those seeking a long-term or recurring stay where feeling at home is paramount.
However, it is also important for locals to be aware of potential issues raised in some past reviews, such as train noise, muddy conditions, or isolated reports of management disputes or security concerns. While these appear to be exceptions and individual experiences, they highlight the importance of direct communication with the park to clarify expectations and ensure a positive stay, especially for extended periods. For those who prioritize a peaceful, no-frills, authentic country experience and appreciate genuine owner hospitality, Happy Trails RV Park can indeed be a comfortable and welcoming retreat right here in East Texas.
Customer Reviews
When I visit family in the area I stay here every year. It's not your 5 star resort if that's what you're looking for. It's down home country at its finest. Owners are really good hearted and will do just about anything to make your stay feel welcomed. Local town has fuel and other amenities needed to get by. Peaceful sleep and no hassle. Looking forward to next year during the holidays... oh and good bisquits and gravy at the restaurant .
Not as advertised. Stayed there for s few months because of work. Couldn’t sleep because of train, always muddy, propane kept getting stolen off camper. Several broke down campers on lot. Not a place I would ever go back to nor would I recommend. As o was paying my monthly rent I told them this was my final month and we where moving to campgroup down road. I travel a lot so I admit I was a little late but I notified them via text and phone, he is seldom lay there, keep missing each other. So I was paying what was owed and told them I was moving to another campground on the 26th and owner kicked me out then. An illegal eviction. He called me a ding idiot and started to yell at me. When I left I noticed the raised the rent and overcharged me.
If you are looking for tennis and a 24 hr store, this is not your place. If you are looking for 50 amp, water, and sewer, a great little cafe, and friendly folks at a reasonable rate . I highly recommend Happy trails.
The Front Porch Cafe is a great place to eat! The fried fish was wonderful! Also the waitress is so friendly.
Nice place good people ! Restaurant on property as well as showers fuel 1/4 mile
