This sense of belonging is a rare and highly valued feature.
-
Abundant Activities for Children: The campground is explicitly "family oriented with lots of activities for children," including a dedicated playground and a swimming pool. This focus ensures that younger campers are constantly entertained, allowing parents to relax and enjoy their stay.
-
Unique "Mud Wars" Event: A standout annual tradition, "Mud Wars" (typically held on the 4th of July and Labor Day) is a highly anticipated event that exemplifies the campground's fun-loving and communal spirit. Such unique events create lasting memories and foster camaraderie.
-
Extensive Riding Trails: The presence of "plenty of riding trails" is a major draw for outdoor enthusiasts. While the specific type of riding isn't mentioned, this provides ample opportunity for activities like ATV riding, dirt biking, or potentially even horseback riding, appealing to a niche but passionate group of campers.
-
Shale Pits & Beer Hill: These informally named features indicate dedicated spaces for social gatherings and unique recreational pastimes, adding to the distinctive character and communal offerings of the campground.
-
Focus on Seasonal/Long-Term Stays: The "Association" model and the "home away from home" sentiment suggest that many campers are seasonal or long-term residents. This creates a stable, familiar, and friendly environment, unlike transient campgrounds where faces constantly change.
-
Secure and Safe Environment: The reviews implying a continuous, positive experience underscore a sense of safety and security within the campground, allowing families to relax and children to explore with confidence.
-
Memorials and Community Support: The mention of a memorial for Ryan Bailey demonstrates the deep care and support within the community, highlighting that this is a place where people genuinely look out for each other and honor their members.
These features collectively establish Harrison Hills Association Campground as more than just a place to camp; it's a vibrant, supportive, and activity-filled community perfectly suited for creating enduring family memories in Ohio.
As an "Association Campground," Harrison Hills operates differently from typical commercial campgrounds that offer nightly or weekly rentals with promotional discounts. Its structure is geared towards longer-term membership and seasonal site rentals, making its "promotions" centered around the value of belonging to a community and having a consistent seasonal "home away from home."
Here's how "promotions" or special offers might manifest at Harrison Hills Association Campground:
-
Seasonal Site Membership/Leasing: The primary "offer" is the opportunity to secure a seasonal campsite. This usually involves an annual fee or lease, which provides continuous access to the site and all campground amenities for the entire operating season (typically April/May through October/November). This is a significant cost-saving for frequent campers compared to booking individual weekend stays, and it includes the invaluable benefit of community membership.
-
Inclusion in Community Events: All organized activities for children, "Mud Wars," and other social gatherings are implicitly included as part of the membership. This provides a constant stream of entertainment and community engagement without additional per-event fees.
-
Family-Oriented Value: The extensive children's activities, playground, and swimming pool are integral to the membership value. For families, this represents significant recreational value that is "included," making it a highly attractive option.
-
Referral Incentives: While not publicly advertised, some private associations might offer incentives for current members who refer new seasonal campers, helping to grow the community.
-
Long-Term Stability: The "best decision we ever made" sentiment suggests that the long-term value and stability of having a permanent seasonal site, fostering deep friendships and consistent access to recreation, is the ultimate "offer" for members.
For specific details on seasonal rates, availability of sites, and the process to become a member or lease a seasonal site, prospective campers should directly contact Harrison Hills Association Campground. Their "awesome host" will be the best source of information on how to join their community and take advantage of what they offer.
