It's an appealing choice for those who appreciate spacious, grassy sites and unique local features, such as watching water planes take off and land. Hatfield Park Campground is conveniently located at Hatfield Ln, New Richmond, WI 54017, USA. This address places the campground within the vibrant city of New Richmond, Wisconsin, known for its friendly community and access to various recreational opportunities. The campground's location is a significant factor in its appeal, offering a balance between natural beauty and urban convenience.
A key aspect of its location is its proximity to a lake, providing campers with "stunning lake views" and opportunities for water-based activities like fishing. This immediate access to water enhances the camping experience, allowing for leisurely days by the shore or active pursuits on the water.
While the campground is situated "right between two highways" and on the "corner of a very busy intersection," reviews indicate that certain sites, particularly those "tucked back," can offer a "fairly quiet" experience. This suggests that despite being near busy roads, the layout of the campground allows for a degree of peacefulness. This proximity to highways, however, also ensures excellent accessibility. Campers can easily reach Hatfield Park Campground from various parts of Wisconsin, making it a convenient destination for weekend getaways or longer trips.
Furthermore, its location within New Richmond means that campers are just a short drive away from a variety of local amenities. This includes "fantastic dining options nearby," as well as grocery stores, gas stations, and other essential services. The presence of a skatepark nearby also adds to the recreational options available to campers. This blend of natural beauty, easy highway access, and proximity to city conveniences makes Hatfield Park Campground a practical and attractive choice for Wisconsin residents seeking a well-located camping spot.
Hatfield Park Campground, being a city-run operation, provides a set of core services aimed at facilitating a comfortable and functional camping experience. While it operates without a constant on-site host, communication and management are handled directly through New Richmond's public works department via email. Based on available information and common amenities at municipal campgrounds, guests can typically expect:
Electrical Hookups: The campground offers sites with electrical hookups, a crucial amenity for RV campers and those who require power for their camping equipment.
Spacious, Grassy Sites: Campers can expect generously sized, grassy individual sites, providing ample space for setting up camp and enjoying the outdoors.
Access to Restroom Facilities (Assumed): While not explicitly detailed, city-run campgrounds typically provide access to basic restroom facilities. It's always advisable for prospective campers to inquire about the specific type and availability of restrooms (e.g., flush toilets, pit toilets) and showers when booking.
Water Access: Sites likely have water access or communal water spigots. One review noted an uphill dump station, implying the presence of water for filling tanks.
Waste Disposal: A dump station is available for RV waste. The uphill nature of the dump suggests that gravity might not assist as much as in some other facilities, which is a point to note for RV users.
Managed by City Public Works: All communication regarding reservations, issues, and inquiries is handled through the city's public works department via email, indicating a structured, albeit off-site, management system.
It is important for campers to be aware that while FedEx/UPS deliveries work, USPS mail delivery is not available at the campground. This means campers should plan accordingly for any mail needs during their stay. For precise details on all services, current conditions, and specific site amenities, direct email communication with New Richmond Public Works is the recommended approach.
Stunning Lake Views: A major highlight of Hatfield Park Campground is the access to and views of the lake, offering a picturesque backdrop for camping and enhancing the overall outdoor experience. This provides opportunities for relaxation by the water and potentially water-based activities.
Unique Water Plane Sightings: Campers have the rare and exciting opportunity to "watch water planes take off," offering a distinctive and memorable perk that sets this campground apart from others.
Spacious Grassy Sites: The campground boasts generously sized, grassy sites, providing ample room for campers to spread out, enjoy privacy, and engage in outdoor activities at their individual spots.
Proximity to Local Attractions: Situated in New Richmond, campers have easy access to "fantastic dining options nearby" and a local skatepark, adding recreational and culinary variety to their camping trip.
Fairly Quiet in Tucked-Back Sites: Despite being located near two highways and a busy intersection, reviews indicate that sites "tucked back" into the campground can offer a "fairly quiet" environment, allowing for peaceful evenings.
Electrical Hookups Available: The presence of electrical hookups caters to RVs and campers needing power, providing a more comfortable and convenient stay.
However, it is important for prospective campers to be aware of some considerations mentioned in reviews:
Infrequent Grass Cutting: A significant concern raised by a long-term resident was that the grass was cut only once a month, which might impact the aesthetic and usability of some sites for those sensitive to longer grass.
Uphill Dump Station: The dump station requires dumping "straight UP hill," which could pose a minor challenge or inconvenience for some RV users.
Gophers: Presence of gophers burrowing under power pedestals was noted, which could be a minor nuisance.
No On-Site Host & Email Communication: All communication is handled via email with public works, meaning there is no immediate on-site assistance or personal interaction with campground staff for daily needs.
These factors provide a comprehensive picture, allowing campers to determine if Hatfield Park Campground aligns with their expectations and preferences for a Wisconsin camping adventure.
As Hatfield Park Campground is operated by the City of New Richmond's Public Works department, specific promotions or special offers are not typically advertised in the same manner as private campgrounds. Municipal campgrounds generally have fixed, published rates that are consistent throughout the season, with less frequent special deals.
For the most accurate and up-to-date information on camping rates, availability, and any potential seasonal considerations, it is best to:
Contact New Richmond Public Works Directly: Inquire via email or phone about current pricing, reservation policies, and whether any specific discounts are offered for extended stays, off-peak periods, or local residents (though this is less common for public parks).
Check the City of New Richmond Website: Official city websites often have dedicated pages for their parks and recreation facilities, including campground information, rates, and booking procedures. This would be the primary source for any official announcements or rare promotions.
Given the communication method (email with public works), it is advisable to plan ahead for bookings and inquiries, especially during peak camping season in Wisconsin.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 Hatfield Campground in New Richmond, WI After spending 5 months here, we’ve got some insights to share. This city-run campground operates without an on-site host, and all communication is handled via email with public works. Here’s our mixed review: 👎🏼 Negatives: 1. The grass was only cut once a month! (I wish I was being dramatic about this..) 2. No USPS mail delivery, though FedEx/UPS works. 3. You’re dumping straight UP hill. 4. It’s right between two highways; our sites were tucked back so it was fairly quiet. 5. Gophers burrow under the power pedestals. 🙃 👍🏼 Positives: 1. Spacious, grassy sites with stunning lake views! 2. Watching water planes take off is a unique perk! 3. Fantastic dining options nearby!
Looks like a great campground with some electrical hookups. It's right on the corner of a very busy intersection so would probably be pretty noisy throughout the day and night. Looks like a very easy campground to camp at with some great fishing and other options like a skatepark
Very nice place to stay and when we come back to New Richmond we would definitely stay here again! My only complaint is the wood picnic table could use some work.
Small campground with full hookups right on the edge of town. Right on bike trail through the city park/sports field and loops around town. Able to extend our stay for one day, Maria was very helpful and accommodating.
Full hookups, good cell service. Road noise can be a little out. Kid’s baseball is out of control. Parents drive through going way to fast. Kids hitting practice balls towards the rv park instead of away. Cars parked all over during games. Including blocking the dump station. They are adding a few new spaces which is nice. It’s peaceful as long as there’s not a ball game going on.
