Finding an RV park that feels like a home away from home, while still providing access to exciting local attractions, is key. Hiawassee RV Campground aims to deliver on these fronts, offering a small, quiet community feel. While every location has its unique characteristics, this comprehensive article will provide you with factual insights based on available public information, helping you decide if Hiawassee RV Campground is the ideal spot for your next Georgia RV adventure.
Hiawassee RV Campground is conveniently located at 2068 US-76, Hiawassee, GA 30546, USA. This strategic placement on US-76, a major thoroughfare in the region, ensures relatively easy access for RVers traveling from various parts of Georgia and neighboring states. Hiawassee itself is a popular destination in Towns County, renowned for its stunning mountain vistas, the expansive Lake Chatuge, and its vibrant community spirit.
One of the significant advantages of this location is its incredible proximity to key local attractions. The Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds, a hub for events, festivals, and concerts throughout the year, is described by visitors as being "right down the street." This means convenient access to entertainment without extensive travel. Similarly, Lake Chatuge, a sprawling reservoir popular for boating, fishing, swimming, and various water sports, is also just a short distance away, making it effortless for campers to enjoy the lake's recreational offerings. While the park is situated directly off US-76, leading to occasional traffic noise, reviewers note that traffic tends to slow down significantly around 10 PM, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. The overall accessibility combined with the wealth of nearby attractions makes Hiawassee RV Campground a practical and desirable choice for a North Georgia RV getaway.
Hiawassee RV Campground provides essential services designed to ensure a comfortable and functional stay for RV travelers. While a detailed list of every single amenity isn't always publicly available, based on common RV park standards and customer feedback, you can generally expect the following services:
- Full Hookup Sites: RV parks like Hiawassee typically offer full hookup sites, which include connections for water, electricity (commonly 30 and/or 50 amp), and sewer. This convenience is crucial for extended stays, allowing campers to utilize their RV's facilities without needing to relocate for services.
- Site Management and Maintenance: Customer reviews highlight that the RV site is "kept clean and orderly." This suggests a commitment by the park management to maintain a tidy environment for campers.
- Helpful and Courteous Staff: Positive feedback specifically mentions "courteous staff" and highlights "Irene (site mgr) was very helpful and kind." This indicates a focus on good customer service, which can significantly enhance a visitor's experience.
- Information on Local Events: The staff, specifically Irene, was noted for keeping campers "informed of all current events in the area." This personalized service adds value by helping visitors make the most of their time in Hiawassee.
- Gravel/Rock Pads: The park utilizes "rocks instead of fine gravel" for its sites. While this is noted as keeping rigs cleaner, one reviewer mentioned a challenge with grading for the septic hose, requiring some improvisation with rocks and storage bins for proper flow. This suggests that while services are provided, some sites may require minor adjustments for optimal setup.
Prospective visitors are always encouraged to contact the park directly to confirm the availability of specific services, particularly if they have unique requirements for their RV setup.

Customer Reviews
Nice quiet community 👌.... been there for a month already 👍 Only down fall is my site is full of nails (That I pick up daily.. **Thats a bag full of Nails) So I can't park on side of camper... then the other entrance is a mud pit even after they put more gravel down the other day... They must of ran out or something 😫
This RV site is kept clean and orderly. The staff were courteous. Irene (site mgr) was very helpful and kind. She kept us informed of all current events in the area. This is a small park right off of US 76, hence there is traffic noise on occasion. Traffic slows down around 10pm so it doesn’t interrupt sleep. The Park uses rocks instead of fine gravel, so your rig stays cleaner, but there was a problem with the grading for the septic hose. We had to pile up the rock, and use a few small small storage bins for support to maintain proper flow. We stayed here for a month. There are lots of hiking trails in the area. The Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds, Lake Chatuge, and a beach are right down the street. Staying here was quite the adventure.
It's great minus the screaming from Irene the manager. She lacks tact and professionalism. Lost my reservation twice in the beginning of our stay, then after we checked out she continued to charge us until we spent hours with the credit card company to straighten out. Wish we would have drove on by this campground. My only suggestion is the manager should take the Pabst blue ribbon out of her hand and the cigarette out of her lips and focus on the job she is paid to do and try to act in a professional manner if you hope to have repeat business. D- grade. Amanda
The Campground manager Irene, very helpful, got me all the information needs. The laundry room and the bathroom are very clean. Overall the place is clean and organized. Irene is always present, respectful. I am so happy to stay at Hiawassee RV Campground. Chuy
