For Iowans who yearn for a deeper connection with nature, a quiet retreat, and an authentic backcountry camping adventure, these hills hold special places. One such exceptional spot is High Point Campsite, nestled within the picturesque area of Honey Creek, Iowa.
High Point Campsite is not your average drive-up campground. It's a designated backcountry tent site designed for adventurers who are willing to put in a little effort to reap significant rewards. The reviews from fellow campers speak volumes, highlighting the "beautiful views" and the presence of abundant "turkeys and other wildlife around." This isn't just a place to set up a tent; it's an immersive experience where you can truly feel part of the natural world, witness incredible sunrises and sunsets, and find solitude amidst Iowa's wild beauty.
Managed by Pottawattamie Conservation, High Point Campsite is part of the broader Hitchcock Nature Center, an area dedicated to preserving and showcasing the unique ecological and topographical features of the Loess Hills. This commitment to conservation ensures that visitors can enjoy a pristine environment, whether they are hiking the challenging trails or simply enjoying the peaceful ambiance from their campsite. For Iowans looking to escape the everyday, challenge themselves on the trails, and embrace the raw beauty of their state, High Point Campsite offers an unforgettable journey into the heart of the Loess Hills.
High Point Campsite, formally known as Backcountry Campsite #4 - High Point, is situated within the renowned Hitchcock Nature Center in Honey Creek, IA 51542, USA. This hike-in requirement emphasizes that High Point is designed for tent campers seeking an authentic wilderness adventure, rather than a car-camping experience.

First solo hike/camp this season. High Point campsite was great. Beautiful views and lots of turkey’s and other wildlife around. I will definitely go back.
In all fairness I have not camped here, yet. I hiked here from the Hohneke Pond campsite to check it out. I would thoroughly enjoy staying here though, the views were amazing!
