What an absolute chaotic experience. First, being that it was a holiday weekend, I’d expect more presence from staff, to meet the needs of guests. In order to get ice and firewood, you must go to the office, as they are locked. We went 3 times through the afternoon and evening but the office door was locked and no sign was displayed other than the business hours, which clearly said they were open until 8pm. All 3 attempts occurred before 8pm. Second, a snack shack was supposed to be open during the event. We had planned to eat from there and watch the band with our family. At no time did the snack shack open, nor was there any indication stating that it wasn’t going to open. We had to make other arrangements to feed our family. Lastly, a big crowd of people gathered to watch a live band at the front. The band was chill, however, someone got injured inside the campground near the performance. I have no idea how this could have occurred, as the speed limit says 5mph, but a fire truck and ambulance came. It was clearly evident that the campground staff was not prepared for the event, as no traffic cones were placed that would block vehicles from driving near the concert. As a visitor, that is not familiar with the layout, when performances are occurring, parts of the roads should have been blocked off so vehicles had an alternate way to travel and avoid the large group of people. The lighting is also very poor around this area. This accident is part of the staff responsibility as no attempt was made to deter traffic from the event. On top of all this, after the person was hit by a truck, a man punched the driver in the face. The driver was an elderly man. I hope the management investigates this incident and that the aggressor is also held responsible and receives a consequence for his actions. Overall, I’m frustrated with not being able to access things that would have allowed us to stay at the campground and not travel to another store, all because the office was closed, Altho the sign said they should be open and there was no reference of a break or return time. And the lack of organization to keep people safe when a big event is happening.

Apr 29, 2025 · Aiyanna MorrisWe have been to this campground 2x with a camping group - we will be returning for the 3rd time this coming June. The office staff is amazing and Brian is so easy to work with when it comes to planning for our group of 8 to 10 sites. Have no plans to move this annual trip anywhere else!
Feb 26, 2025 · Thomas ReumontWe just ended our first ever camping trip as a family of 4 at Homestead Campground. We found this place on recommendation of a good friend who stays there as well. We loved it! Everything about this campground was perfect. The staff were super friendly, the area was peaceful and the sites were great. We loved the splash pad for our kiddos on a super hot day. My husband and I hung out in a shaded are under a tree where we could easily keep and eye on the kids. They also have two pools(we didn’t get to them) Everyone that we came in contact with were kind and welcoming. It was a great distance from the beach (Lewes beach about 20ish min). There is a dollar general right up the street too which was really nice when we needed something if the store wasn’t open. We got daily texts about fun events going on or activities at the campground. I would definitely recommend and will definitely go back!
Jun 25, 2024 · Whitney LeppoThis place is horrible. No rules. Drunks everywhere, loud and obnoxious parties still going at 3am. It's NOT a place for families, and we won't be back.
