Deep Branch Family Campground About
For Delaware locals seeking a memorable outdoor escape, a campground that combines natural beauty with convenient access to the state's renowned attractions is highly sought after. Deep Branch Family Campground, nestled in the wooded landscape of Milton, Delaware, presents itself as a compelling option for families and individuals looking to connect with nature without straying too far from the action of coastal Delaware.
Camping in Delaware offers a diverse range of experiences, from rustic wilderness sites to amenity-rich RV parks. Deep Branch Family Campground aims to strike a balance, providing a serene "beautiful campground in the woods" environment while ensuring proximity to popular destinations. This makes it an ideal base for exploring everything from the charming town of Milton to the bustling beaches of Lewes and Rehoboth.
Guest reviews offer a mixed but ultimately positive picture of the campground. One reviewer enthusiastically shared their experience: "It was amazing to camp here. They have a playground which was great for the kids. We were also 10 minutes from the beach so it was great to stop by the beach during the day." This highlights the park's appeal for families and its excellent location. The "showers were great with hot water" and the "bathroom had worship music playing constantly" were also noted as positive features, indicating attention to guest comfort.
However, it is crucial to address the detailed review concerning a bed bug issue in a cabin. This customer's experience underscores the importance of prompt and empathetic customer service, and while their initial interaction was challenging, the full refund eventually provided by the campground indicates a resolution. This situation emphasizes that while issues can arise in any lodging, a business's ultimate response is key. It also serves as a reminder for all travelers to be vigilant and communicate concerns immediately.
Despite this isolated but serious concern, the overall sentiment from multiple reviews suggests that Deep Branch Family Campground is a place where many positive experiences are created. The friendly staff, proximity to the beach, and family-oriented features remain significant draws. This article will explore the various aspects that make Deep Branch Family Campground a suitable choice for Delaware locals, offering a balanced perspective on its offerings.
Deep Branch Family Campground is conveniently located at 13177 Eagles Nest Trail, Milton, DE 19968, USA. This address places it within Sussex County, a highly popular region of Delaware known for its scenic beauty, outdoor recreational opportunities, and vibrant beach towns. Milton, the town in which it resides, offers a quaint, historic atmosphere with local shops, eateries, and a relaxed pace, providing a pleasant local flavor.
One of the most significant advantages of Deep Branch Family Campground's location is its exceptional proximity to the renowned Delaware beaches. Reviewers consistently highlight that the campground is "10 minutes from the beach," making it an incredibly convenient base for beach lovers. This short drive allows easy access to the popular shores of Lewes, Rehoboth Beach, and Dewey Beach, where visitors can enjoy swimming, sunbathing, boardwalk attractions, outlet shopping, and diverse dining experiences. This quick access to the coast is a major draw for both locals and out-of-state visitors.
Beyond the beaches, the location offers good accessibility to other local attractions and essential services. The charming town of Milton itself, with its breweries (like Dogfish Head Craft Brewery), local parks, and small-town events, is very close by. For broader shopping needs and services, larger towns in Sussex County are easily reachable via well-maintained roads. The campground's setting in the woods provides a peaceful and natural environment, offering a tranquil retreat after a day of exploring the bustling coastal areas.
While nestled in nature, Eagles Nest Trail provides straightforward access to main routes, allowing for convenient travel throughout Sussex County and to other parts of Delaware. This balance of secluded natural beauty and easy access to both vibrant beach towns and local amenities makes Deep Branch Family Campground a strategically well-placed option for a variety of vacation and recreation styles in Delaware.
RV Sites with Hookups: The campground offers sites designed for recreational vehicles, typically providing essential hookups such as electric, water, and potentially sewer, ensuring a comfortable camping experience.
Tent Sites: For traditional campers, dedicated tent sites are available, allowing for a more rustic and direct connection with nature.

Bathhouses with Hot Water: Clean and functional bathhouses with hot water showers are available for all guests. Reviews specifically praise the "great with hot water" showers, a crucial amenity for campers.
On-Site Management: While details on the extent of on-site management are limited, reviews suggest an active manager (Pam) who strives to maintain the cleanliness of the park and interacts with guests.
Pet-Friendly Environment: Most family campgrounds, including Deep Branch, are typically pet-friendly, allowing guests to bring their dogs (with specific rules often applying regarding leashes and cleanup).
Campfire Opportunities: Guests are able to cook over fires, suggesting that fire rings or designated campfire areas are available at sites, enhancing the traditional camping experience.

Deep Branch Family Campground, as a privately owned and operated facility, typically offers competitive seasonal rates rather than extensive public promotions. However, the value for campers comes in the comprehensive amenities provided and its prime location. While specific ongoing "deals" are not widely advertised, common campground practices and insights from reviews suggest certain types of offers or value propositions:
Competitive Daily/Weekly/Seasonal Rates: The primary "offer" is the availability of various site types (RV, tent, cabins) at published rates designed to be competitive within the Delaware camping market. Seasonal rates, in particular, provide a long-term, cost-effective option for regulars.
Family-Oriented Value: The inclusion of a playground and the overall family-friendly atmosphere adds value for families, allowing children to be entertained within the campground, potentially saving on external entertainment costs.
Proximity to Beaches (Inherent Value): Being "10 minutes from the beach" is an inherent value proposition that allows campers to maximize their time enjoying the coastal attractions without long commutes or additional travel expenses.
Potential for Group Rates: For larger families or groups, it's always worth inquiring directly with the campground about potential group booking discounts, especially during off-peak seasons, though this is not publicly confirmed.
As with most campgrounds, the best way to determine current availability, exact pricing, and any unadvertised specials (such as discounts for extended stays or specific dates) is to contact Deep Branch Family Campground directly. Their website (if available) or a direct phone call will provide the most accurate and up-to-date information for your planned visit.

Customer Reviews
Update from my last post and the Campground’s response. Pam.- We accept your apologies. I do want to clarify that what I wrote was exactly what happened. From the moment we shared with you that we found bed bugs in your cabin and that I was bitten several times, you did not believe us. We showed you dead and live ones, but you were always just waiting for your “review”, which we never received an answer for. Instead, you repeated that “[you] had zero [bed bug] issues last year due to measures [you] took. [We] were the very first rental of this cabin this year.” Well, bed bugs can grow resistant to treatment and hide, and they will only become active when there is a host, and they sure were active when they bit me so much that I had a severe allergic reaction and an infection that could have quickly become serious if I had not gone to urgent care and received medical treatment.Obviously, the measures you have taken are not enough, and you need to do more so that it does not become a regular experience at your campground. On my part, there was no communication issue nor language barrier. After our terrible experience, I asked you for a full refund and you were clear when you said you would not do that. The most you would do was refund us for the nights we did not stay and the deposit (after you checked that we left the cabin clean…). Then, you said you could give us a rain check that we could use next time we would go, but of course, we don’t plan to do that after all that has happened, so it was of no use to us. I talked to you in person to help you understand the cost and how bad this whole situation was for us, but you didn’t want to understand—you were too busy prepping for a picnic. A partial refund was all you would do. Now, after the review I posted, I can confirm that you have given me a full refund, but when I talked to you in person, you gave me the partial refund and said that you would not answer my calls nor emails even if I reached out to you 500 times. I’m grateful that you see things differently now. I hope that you don’t treat other customers the same way you treated us. As I told you when I made the reservation, this was not our first stay at this campground. We have been there several times since 2004, inviting family and friends to spend numerous weekends and weeks with us when it was under Eagles Nest Management. We never had any problems or complaints; our experience there was always spectacular. We created many memories with our family and friends and that was our intent again this year, but sadly, it was absolutely awful. So, after this entirely bad experience, I hope you take greater measures to take care of your campground so that this won’t happen again to any of your customers, and please be more considerate and empathetic towards your customers, and resolve problems promptly. I want to end by wishing you, your team, and the owners the best, and thank you for your response. ********************************************
Beautiful campground in the woods! It was amazing to camp here. They have a playground which was great for the kids. We were also 10 minutes from the beach so it was great to stop by the beach during the day. We got to cook over the fire. There were some mosquitoes but nothing out of ordinary. We used some incense sticks that worked well. Some reviews talked about some smell. We smelled something slightly one night but it wasn’t overpowering. Overall the smell was not an issue. The showers were great with hot water. Loved how the bathroom had worship music playing constantly. Also Pam was so nice and accommodating. Really appreciated all her help!! Thank you!
Great family campground! Beautiful well put together. Lots to do and the staff makes your weekend perfect! They had a movie in the pool.. amazing. Beautiful scenery great place to get away for the weekend!
It says family campground but there is nothing to do around / activities conducted by them. There is a FOUL smell that comes when you sit outside or walk within camp site. Issues with lot of mosquitoes. I was surprised that I didn't see any activity at night but than made sense why would someone sit outside and get bug bites. After camping we all had bug bites for few days. We were there for TWO nights, I would never recommend ANYONE to be there even if they get a free stay....
The cabin was very nice. The next morning the smell of rotten sewer was extremely bad! I have a very strong stomach but I couldn't take it and had to leave. The owner claimed there was a chicken house close by. Sorry but that did not smell like any chicken house or slaughtering plant. I believe they may have a crack in there holding tank. It is totally disgusting! Owners are very sweet people and could have a profitable business if the smell would go away.
