The pool was beautiful. Cold at first but we got used to it. The pool at Hillside was warmer. Enjoyed the people at JP but missed the cafe table servers. Now you have to order at the counter and wait for your buzzer to ring. Less personal now. The dinner food at the cafe was mediocre. But the breakfast was very good. The cabins have some nice amenities when they work properly. I couldn't make coffee the first day because the Keurig didn't work. When I told the staff at the office about it, they replaced it with another coffee maker but that one didn't work either. So no coffee. The dances are usually a lot of fun but on my last trip the music wasn't that good. Almost nobody dancing. But things did pick up later when the music selections got better. If you want an experience that easily rivals JP, we highly recommend Hillside campground in PA. But if you want a low key weekend with just the basics, Jones Pond is an acceptable place to stay, just not sensational.
Aug 26, 2025 · Sam AntonioThis was my first visit to a gay campground, and it was a great experience. We arrived on Thursday and were greeted with the friendliest check-in—lots of helpful information, warm smiles, and answers to all of my questions, especially about the campground's policies. The cabin we rented was perfect, with windows on three sides, a ceiling fan for air circulation, and a surprisingly comfortable bed. While we didn’t use our tent, the tent sites looked well-maintained and were conveniently located near what were probably the cleanest bathrooms I’ve ever seen. The pool was clean and at a comfortable temperature, and the staff throughout the campground couldn't have been more courteous. My only regret is not being more outgoing. I was a bit shy, and I feel like I missed out on the full experience because of it. Don’t be afraid to say hello and connect with others—it’s part of what makes the place special. I definitely plan to return, and next time, I’ll make a greater effort to connect with the amazing people who work and stay at Jones Pond.
Jun 30, 2025 · Jeremiah TI was welcomed in my two regulars and had a great weekend stay. The owners were friendly and helpful and the classes there were fun. I spent most my morning and afternoon around the pool and the events were great. Looking forward to heading up during Halloween with my crew. Thanks guys!
Aug 22, 2025 · sam crouchIt was a wonderful first weekend, had a couple small mistakes before we even arrived through attending one of their events at 26. Even though those nights are worth it in all ways just like a book don’t judge it by the cover unless if your judging the good looking poster boys that last year poster boy wasn’t there but I found out and got excited to attend through him by just being one of his followers! The dance and everything was so great it was definitely a time to get loose and relax, the trails are great as well even though it’s hard to follow through them because the painting on the trees are probably in hard to see spots. Lastly our refrigerator wasn’t really working in our cabin till my partner said he turned some knob, kind of upset but what they say no guarantees that the 2 newer cabins that were next to us did not have a grill but we did and next weekend we are staying at the one next to us! Great community very friendly and relaxed!
Jul 14, 2025 · Brandon FrayneJust had my first experience here and gay camping in general with my fiancé and 2 other friends and to be honest. My experience here blew my expectations out of the water! The place is beautiful, well maintained, and very clean. We stayed in one of the bunk houses and it included a nice picnic table, fire pit, lockers for storage and a fridge! I loved the pool, it was nice and warm enough and refreshing on a hot day. The event barn that hosted things like a party, dances and bingo that we all enjoyed! My group also took advantage of going down the trails, which was very nice to go on with some beautiful NY nature and pretty secluded. My only complaint is some of the trail markings weren't always easy to see or navigate through, we would sometimes end up going a different direction than marked. But really the mainstay for us was the community of seasonals, and other campers there. We felt so genuinely accepted into the space and was always greeted with a smile and a hello! And special shoutouts to the owners for also accepting us with open arms! I certainly wont forget my time here, and my group is already planning for our next visit!
