It's often described by locals as a "very nice place to camp," a sentiment echoed by many who appreciate its friendly atmosphere and prime riverfront location. Whether you're a seasoned RVer or a tent-camping enthusiast, this campground provides a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural beauty and vibrant ecosystem of one of America's most iconic rivers, all while enjoying essential comforts and a welcoming community vibe.

Keithsburg Riverside Campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis, adding to its laid-back charm and accessibility for spontaneous trips. It's an ideal spot for those who love to wake up to a "great view of Odessa Lake" (likely referring to the expansive backwaters of the Mississippi in this area) and drift off to sleep under a canopy of stars. The campground prides itself on being a safe and friendly place where everyone, including our beloved canine companions (on leash, of course!), is welcome. The allure of "ocean vibes on a river" as one satisfied camper described it, perfectly captures the serene yet dynamic experience of being so close to the Mississippi's impressive currents and boat traffic. For Illinoisans seeking a blend of natural beauty, outdoor activities, and genuine relaxation, Keithsburg Riverside Campground offers a memorable experience.

Its position offers immediate access to the river, making it a prime spot for boaters, anglers, and anyone who simply loves being by the water. For those traveling from various parts of Illinois, Keithsburg is accessible via state routes, though it maintains a small-town charm away from major urban centers. It's approximately 40 miles south of Moline, making it a manageable drive for Quad Cities residents seeking a river escape. Keithsburg Riverside Campground offers several appealing features and highlights that make it a standout destination for campers in Illinois, particularly those drawn to the Mississippi River. These aspects contribute significantly to its charm and popularity:

  • Direct Riverfront Access and Views: A major highlight is its direct location along the Mississippi River. Many sites are "riverfront" or very close, offering stunning views and the unique experience of having the river just "steps away." One reviewer even enjoyed "ocean vibes on a river," sleeping with unzipped tent screens for the breeze and star-gazing.

  • Abundant Fishing Opportunities: The campground is a popular spot for fishermen due to its proximity to one of the largest pools (26 miles long) between Lock and Dam 17 and 18 on the Mississippi River. Fishermen come from all over for numerous fishing tournaments, and it’s easy to fish from boats or the shore.

  • Boating and Jet Ski Enthusiasm: The river access and presence of boat ramps cater to boaters and jet ski enthusiasts, providing ample space for water sports and exploration of the river's backwaters and channels, including the Port Louisa Refuge.

  • Secluded Beach Areas: One reviewer particularly enjoyed having a "private beach" for several campsites, suggesting areas along the riverfront offer a sense of personal space.

  • Proximity to Local Amenities: Despite its natural setting, the campground is a short walk from local bars/restaurants with "really good food" and a gas station, offering convenience for supplies and dining without having to drive far.

When planning a stay at Keithsburg Riverside Campground, local Illinois residents will find its pricing to be quite reasonable and straightforward, making it an attractive option for an affordable getaway. I came here for the first time yesterday Sat. July 8th to stay thru Tues July 11th early am. You don't have to check out till 4 pm and this place is awesome. ❤️ Beautiful. I originally was going to camp at the $8.00 night tent sight but it was crowded so I chose on the riverfront / beach for $25.00 a night. Camp hosts are very very sweet and everyone is friendly. I literally go to sleep looking at stars from in my tent leave my screens unzipped for an awesome breeze and today from 4 till the rest of the night I pretty much have my own private beach. Noone is right next to me for 5 campsites, except for behind me but noone is on the beach. This place is really pretty. Ocean vibes on a river. However when the boats come to dock or leave out they leave waves that splash n if you close your eyes juss for a few seconds you can imagine you are at the ocean. 😊Pet friendly on leashes of course and a lil playground for the kids too. Restrooms of course haven't checked out showers I clean up at my site and shower when I get home. I could live here. Literally till late fall in my tent. 🥰
