Excellent hosts and a beautiful, quiet setting. We enjoyed our 2 night stay at Lake Lucy. This was the first season the campground, and the 11 full hookup sites were well equipped with a gravel pad, fire ring, and a large wooden picnic table. A large play-set for children and a lake to fish in are ready to use. There is a lot of room between sites, and tall trees provide partial shade. The setting is close to a quiet rural road where Amish buggies frequently go by. A farm with donkeys and a horse is at the back of the sites. There is one private full bathroom with a shower, and one private toilet. Lake Lucy is only 15 minutes drive to the hiking trails of Cook Forrest State Park. There are several rail trails for biking nearby, and the Drake Oil Well State Historic Park in Titusville. Drake’s well was the first commercially successful oil well in the world! Our hosts were amazing and open to communication. Firewood is available to buy at the campground. Nearby trails are the Route 66, Oil City, Samuel Justus, and Allegheny National Forest Trails.

Jun 19, 2024 · Matt SnyderFirst, reviews are based on one person's experience in one moment of time based on their needs in that moment. I don't think it's fair to reduce the entire experience to one rating. This review is not focused on the full hookup sites or the reception facility. Just the primitive sites. I know how important reviews are for small businesses so I *really* want to stress - my experience is not conclusive and my needs are unique. Booking was 5 stars. Very easy. Bathroom was great. Location felt like you were camping in your friend's yard. You know, the one who has 5 acres a few miles outside of town. 3 stars. No communication with the hosts at all. The Wifi password was not readily available or I'm obtuse. Very possibly the latter. I reached out - never heard anything. Maybe there's a family emergency that's understandably more important. So communication is 1 star because it never happened and there was nothing on site that I could find. I'm sure there was a good reason. Value? This is 2 stars. Pulling into the grass to park for the night is worth maybe $20 tops. Honestly, based on my needs (see paragraph 1), I should've just gone to WalMart and used the campsite money for a real dinner. In short, if the primitive sites were cheaper it would be perfect for the van camper looking for a 1 night shower and Wifi. But it's pricey, the wifi is a national secret, and - for me - there was little value added to justify staying.
