Paradise Lake Family Campground About
For Virginians looking for a family-friendly camping experience that truly delivers on fun and relaxation, Paradise Lake Family Campground in Spout Spring, VA, emerges as a delightful option. Tucked away in a forest setting off the main road, this campground offers a quaint and peaceful atmosphere combined with a surprising array of amenities that cater to all ages. If you’re seeking more than just a basic campsite and want a place where the kids can be entertained and adults can unwind, Paradise Lake is certainly worth considering for your next Virginia getaway.
Many visitors arrive at Paradise Lake Family Campground expecting a simple, "regular campground with nothing," only to be pleasantly surprised by the wealth of offerings. As one happy camper noted, they discovered a "Game room, pool, lake, kayak rentals for $3, a store and so much more!" They "enjoyed every amenity they had to offer," describing their stay as "a peaceful and a fun getaway" with "no complaints," even planning a return trip for a longer stay. This sentiment of unexpected delight and appreciation for the extensive facilities is common.
However, it's also important for prospective campers to be aware of certain aspects. While the campground is described as "very quaint and relaxing," offering "plenty of space for the kids to enjoy themselves," a specific concern has been raised by a past guest regarding the slide in the lake. This individual, who spoke with a local, noted that the slide "needs to be replaced with newer equipment" and "looks dangerous," with reports of people almost "went over the side." Furthermore, a significant concern about "water moccasins (poisonous)" being "local to that lake" led this family to "not be getting in the lake" for swimming. This feedback, while critical, is shared with the hope that "it does reach the owners" for improvement. Despite these specific concerns about the lake and its slide, the overall sentiment remains that "the campground is a beautiful area and just the site in itself is a nice getaway."
This article will provide a detailed overview of Paradise Lake Family Campground, covering its location and accessibility, the diverse services it offers, its key features and highlights, and important contact information. We will conclude by discussing why, for many Virginia locals, this campground remains a suitable and enjoyable option for a memorable family camping trip, provided they manage expectations regarding the lake activities based on recent feedback.
Paradise Lake Family Campground is located at 1105 W Lake Rd, Spout Spring, VA 24593, USA. This address places it in Appomattox County, Virginia, off the main highway, nestled "back in forest type setting." This strategic location provides a sense of seclusion and tranquility, while still being relatively accessible to larger towns and attractions in Central Virginia. It proudly holds the title of the "closest campground to Lynchburg, Virginia," making it an ideal base for exploring the area's attractions, including Liberty University (approximately a 15-minute drive) and the historic Appomattox Court House National Historical Park (about 10 minutes away).
Access to the campground is generally straightforward, being "off the main drag" but still reachable by paved roads, making it suitable for both tents and RVs. The property itself features an entrance with a "security gate," adding a layer of safety and peace of mind for campers. While the roads within the grounds are described as "gravel and 'hilly'," visitors with larger RVs (e.g., 43-foot motorhomes) have reported no issues getting around, with spacious pull-through sites available. This indicates good internal accessibility once you are within the campground. Given its forested setting, it’s advisable to note that cell service can sometimes be spotty in rural Virginia areas, though many amenities like Wi-Fi hotspots are often available near the office.
The campground's location in Appomattox County also means it is surrounded by natural beauty and within a short drive of other state parks like Holliday Lake State Park and James River State Park, offering additional recreational opportunities if desired.

Customer Reviews
My fiancé and I had a 2day tent reservation here the past weekend and we loved our stay. When booking we thought it was just a regular camp ground with nothing. They had a Game room , pool , lake , kayak rentals for $3 , a store and so much more. We enjoyed every amenity they had to offer. It was a peaceful and a fun getaway. No complaints. We will be coming back this summer for 4 days.
Paradise Lake Family Campground is a campground located off the main drag back in forest type setting . Very quaint and relaxing plenty of space for the kids to enjoin themselves plus you have the pool and the lake and other exciting adventures there . Just an fyi now that I’ve been there , I think their slide in the lake needs to be replaced with newer equipment . It looks dangerous . Plus I talked spoke with a local and they stated that people have almost went over the side of the slide before or it’s dangerous in spots and she said she has been on that slide 100’s of times in her lifetime and she is only 22 now and she will not get in that lake anymore . She said watch out for water moccasins (poinsonous) heard a lot of them are local to that lake so needless to say after speaking with her we decided we as a family would not be getting in the lake . Just seems to dangerous now. The reason I wanted to put this out here is I’m hoping that it does reach the owners . Maybe they will take the criticism and listen to it not go against it. When I looked at this campground initially to book the slide on the lake was a selling point for me but unfortunately 20yrs ago it would’ve been not anymore . However don’t let that run you away the campground is a beautiful area and just the site in itself is a nice getaway 💜
This RV park is amazing.... deep in the woods and away from the roadway..... friendly people throughout the park... Stevie greeted us when we arrived... sweet lady with a kind sense of humor... The employees were kind... the bathroom and showers were spotless.... always clean and smelled good.... we will be back
Stade a week. I wish we had more time to spend on the grounds. Staff are friendly and helpful, and spots are not on top of one another.
Well not really any rooms except the ones you bring with you. This is an excellent RV campground Great place to use a place to stay while visiting the many historical spots near by
