Nestled by the serene Bay Springs Lake, this campground is a haven for those who love to fish, boat, and simply relax amidst a picturesque setting. It's a place where the sounds of nature prevail, inviting you to unwind and create lasting memories with family and friends.
Piney Grove Campground is more than just a place to pitch a tent or park an RV; it's an opportunity to immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty of Northeast Mississippi. The primary allure is the stunning lake, which serves as a magnificent backdrop for all your camping adventures. Whether you're an avid angler hoping for a big catch, a boater eager to explore the expansive waters, or simply someone who enjoys the peaceful rhythm of lakeside living, this campground provides the ideal environment.
The very essence of Piney Grove lies in its commitment to offering a natural, outdoor-focused experience. While it aims to provide necessary comforts, the real draw is the raw beauty of its surroundings. Imagine waking up to the gentle lapping of water, spending your days under the Mississippi sun, and winding down with campfires as the stars emerge. This natural charm is a significant highlight, though like any true outdoor destination, it comes with its own set of characteristics that campers should be prepared for, such as the presence of local wildlife.
Visitors consistently describe the park as "very pretty," affirming its aesthetic appeal. This beauty, combined with the recreational opportunities offered by Bay Springs Lake, positions Piney Grove Campground as a prime choice for those looking to disconnect from the daily grind and reconnect with the great outdoors right here in Mississippi. Piney Grove Campground is situated at County Road 3550, New Site, MS 38859, USA. This location places it in Tishomingo County, in the northeastern part of Mississippi, directly adjacent to the beautiful Bay Springs Lake. This prime position on the lake is its most significant geographical asset, offering immediate access to a vast body of water renowned for recreation.
New Site is a small, unincorporated community, contributing to the secluded and natural feel of the campground. While the immediate vicinity is quiet, residents will find that essential services are within a reasonable driving distance. The town of Booneville, a larger community in Prentiss County, is relatively close and offers grocery stores, gas stations, and other basic necessities. Similarly, the city of Tupelo, a more significant regional hub famous for its Elvis Presley connection, is accessible within an hour's drive, providing a wider array of shopping, dining, and cultural attractions.
The campground's direct access to Bay Springs Lake, part of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, is a major highlight. This waterway offers extensive opportunities for boating, fishing, and watersports, making it a paradise for aquatic enthusiasts. Roads leading to the campground, such as County Road 3550, are generally well-maintained rural routes, ensuring reasonable accessibility for vehicles, including RVs and those towing boats. Promotions or Special Offers:
As a publicly accessible campground, often managed by a government agency (like the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which manages many campgrounds on waterways like the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway), specific seasonal or coupon-based promotions are less common than at privately owned parks. However, there are standard discounts and booking options that campers should inquire about:
- Senior/Access Passes: For campgrounds managed by federal agencies, holders of National Parks & Federal Recreational Lands Senior Pass or Access Pass often receive discounts (typically 50%) on camping fees. It is highly recommended to check if Piney Grove Campground participates in these programs.
- Standard Daily/Nightly Rates: The primary booking option, with rates varying by site type (e.g., RV with hookups vs. primitive tent).
- Off-Peak Season Rates: While not always a formal "promotion," rates might be slightly lower during the less popular cooler months compared to peak summer.
- Reservations: While not a discount, the ability to reserve sites in advance (often through a national booking system like Recreation.gov) ensures availability, especially during busy seasons, and can sometimes be required.
- Loyalty Programs: Unlikely for a public campground, but worth confirming if they are part of any local or regional tourism initiatives that offer benefits.
To confirm current rates, any applicable discounts, and to make reservations, it is best to contact Piney Grove Campground directly using the phone numbers provided or to check official government recreation websites associated with Bay Springs Lake and the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. Inquire about the most current conditions and amenities, especially regarding water quality or site specific features.

Very pretty park and I’m thankful to have such a park. A few negative things that must be mentioned for true feedback. *The showers had no shower curtain. *At site 21 we had a lot of ticks and chiggers. 8 ticks and many chiggers found on us. I know….you’re camping..get over it.. Those things carry LOTS of diseases!! Bring sprays!! *The water spigot puts out rusty water like you wouldn’t believe! Stopped up my filter quickly. They really need to change out the old rusty spigots. *Most sites have lots of steps and uneven ground. Treacherous for small children, older and or clumsy people. It’s very rare that I leave negative feedback. I think the ticks set me off! 😂 This is early spring. I would hate to see the tick population in the summer here!! Happy camping all!!
🌕 Beautiful spot to fish, boat, and relax. Just watch out for The Sprangly—Bay Springs Lake’s unofficial mascot. Some say it’s a catfish that got struck by lightning. Others think it’s what happens when a frog eats a whole seat cushion. Either way, it stands about 4 feet tall, always damp, and a little too curious. Not dangerous—just nosy. Might peek in your cooler or rearrange your lawn chairs. Loves MoonPies and lukewarm Sun Drop. If you hear a muddy “bwongggg” at dawn, that’s probably it tuning its banjo or calling for backup. Tip: Leave a Slim Jim on the dock and your cooler will stay safe all night. 10/10. Would wave back again.
My first time there and we had a great time. Could use some repairs in the restrooms and general maintenance on the sites but overall we had a great time and will definitely be back. 👍
Nice quiet campground. Had no issue with water or bugs. Only were there for one night though. Lots of shade
I grew up going to this campground. I love this area and the campground itself. I will say, do NOT get 104 and 105 unless you want baseballs and basketballs thrown at you from about 730 am until 1000 pm. Along with tons of unsupervised kids from aged 4 to 16 riding bikes through your site constantly. We even had a child take firewood from our camp. I have never been camping and felt that I needed to lock everything up until this trip. The lack of parental supervision was astonishing. There were little ones riding bicycles at dark unattended, with cars still on the road. I'm definitely not a helicopter mom but this was crazy. I feel sorry for the custodians, people were destroying the bathrooms leaving toilet paper every where. The custodians were doing their best to keep the place clean. We have been to numerous campgrounds that are kid friendly (we have kids) and we are still able to relax and have quiet time. Not this time. It's was ridiculous!
