Situated conveniently along GA-515, this campground caters particularly to those in need of extended stays, whether for work, a transitional period, or simply a desire for a quieter, more permanent camping lifestyle. While it may not be a traditional recreational campground designed for short-term vacations, its focus on providing a consistent and tranquil environment for its residents sets it apart. We understand that local individuals, especially business owners or those with long-term housing needs in the Ellijay area, prioritize safety, quiet, and a sense of stability. Plum Nelly Campground aims to meet these needs, offering a base from which to experience the beauty of North Georgia on an ongoing basis. This article will provide an overview of what to expect from Plum Nelly Campground, based on available public information, highlighting its suitability for those seeking a more permanent, peaceful camping solution in the region.
Plum Nelly Campground is strategically located at 15828 GA-515, Ellijay, GA 30536, USA. This highly accessible address places it directly on a major highway, Georgia State Route 515, which is a key thoroughfare through North Georgia. This excellent accessibility makes it particularly convenient for those who need to commute for work or easily access amenities in Ellijay and surrounding towns. Ellijay, often known as the "Apple Capital of Georgia," offers a charming small-town atmosphere with local shops, restaurants, and seasonal festivals. The campground's location on GA-515 ensures a straightforward drive from various parts of Georgia, including the greater Atlanta metropolitan area, without having to navigate complex country roads. While being close to a highway can sometimes imply road noise, the appeal of Plum Nelly for many seems to lie in its long-term, peaceful living environment. Its proximity to both natural attractions and urban conveniences means residents can enjoy the best of both worlds: a quiet place to reside with easy access to employment, services, and recreational opportunities in the heart of the North Georgia Mountains.
Based on the provided reviews and the nature of an extended-stay campground, Plum Nelly Campground offers services primarily geared towards long-term residents, focusing on essential utilities and a stable environment.
-
RV Lot Rentals: The primary service offered is the rental of RV lots, often on a monthly basis, catering to individuals and families seeking extended accommodation. One reviewer mentioned staying for "about 10 months," indicating its suitability for longer-term residents.
-
Full Hookups (Electric, Water, Sewer): While not explicitly detailed, the reviewer's comment about water being shut off and needing to rinse with cold jugs implies that individual sites are intended to have water access, and by extension, likely electric and sewer hookups, which are standard for long-term RV parks.
-
On-site Management/Host: There appears to be an on-site manager or host, as indicated by interactions described in one review. This presence suggests a point of contact for issues and general oversight of the property.
-
Peaceful Environment: One significant aspect highlighted by a long-term resident is that the campground was "always peaceful, and quiet," which is a crucial service for those seeking a stable and calm living situation.
It is important for prospective residents to note potential inconsistencies in utility services (e.g., unannounced water shut-offs for maintenance) and to clarify expectations regarding mail handling and property management policies, especially in sensitive situations. While challenges were mentioned by one past resident, another business owner expressed satisfaction with the peaceful nature of their long-term stay.
Plum Nelly Campground, while perhaps not a traditional tourist attraction, possesses distinct features and highlights that appeal specifically to its target demographic of long-term residents and those seeking a quiet, stable camping experience.
-
Suitability for Extended Stays: This is a primary highlight. The campground's environment and operational model are well-suited for individuals and families looking for accommodation for several months or even longer, as evidenced by a 10-month stay mentioned in a review.
-
Quiet and Peaceful Atmosphere: A significant advantage emphasized by a satisfied resident is the consistently "peaceful, and quiet" environment. For those working or seeking a stable, low-key living situation, this attribute is invaluable.
-
Convenient Location on GA-515: Its direct frontage on a major state highway, GA-515, provides excellent accessibility for commuting to jobs, accessing Ellijay's town center for amenities, and exploring the wider North Georgia region.
-
Perceived Safety: One reviewer explicitly stated, "I felt safe," which is a critical highlight for any long-term accommodation, offering peace of mind to residents.
-
Basic, Essential Amenities: While not a luxury resort, the expectation of essential full hookups (water, electric, sewer) on sites means residents have the necessary utilities for comfortable RV living.
It's important to acknowledge that some past residents have reported negative experiences, particularly regarding internet reliability, unannounced utility shut-offs, and communication issues with management during difficult personal situations. Prospective residents should inquire about current policies and infrastructure to ensure it meets their expectations for long-term living. However, for those who found it suitable, the peace and location were clear benefits.
As Plum Nelly Campground primarily serves as an extended-stay RV park rather than a recreational tourist campground, it typically does not offer seasonal promotions or special offers in the traditional sense that a short-term vacation spot might. Its pricing structure is likely based on monthly lot rent.
However, prospective long-term residents should inquire directly about:
-
Monthly Rates: The primary "offer" would be the competitive monthly rate for RV lot rentals, which is the standard for extended-stay parks.
-
Lease Terms: Information on lease agreements, notice periods, and payment schedules would be crucial to understand the commitment and any associated terms.
-
Utility Inclusions: Clarification on whether utilities (electric, water, sewer) are included in the monthly rent or are billed separately is essential for budgeting.
-
Deposit Requirements: Information on security deposits or initial fees for long-term residency.
Given the specific nature of this campground for extended stays, it is highly recommended that interested individuals contact the management directly to discuss current availability, pricing structures, and all terms of residency. This direct communication will provide the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding any "offers" relevant to long-term renters.

Customer Reviews
I really did like this place until I didn't. I stayed here for about 10 months. Internet was awful. You'd be lucky to get a signal when everyone else is asleep. They'd shut your water off with NO WARNING to upgrade or work on the water lines. I was taking a shower before work and the water got shut off. Thankfully I had freezing cold jugs of water to rinse off with. They shut the water off when it's freezing outside but then when it's above freezing it would still be off. I dealt with it all winter long. The manager seemed nice until my rv got repossessed (due to my own financial struggles). This is where things went south so fast. The lot rent had just been paid a couple days prior. Unfortunately I was on my way to go take care of my father so I couldn't get my things. Come to find out from the repo guy the manager just started throwing away my kid's bikes and other things that were outside the camper. When I came back to the campground to get my mail it wasn't there and someone was in my old lot. Not a huge deal but they still had my money, threw away my property and when I called about my mail I asked if he sent it back and he said "yes" only to find out that it was never sent back. I wasn't a problem neighbor. I kept to myself. There was 2x that they said there was a problem with my payment but I always had the money in the bank. It's a shame that this went the way it did because I was planning on coming back after I had this figured out. Now every time I pass Plum Nelly I'm thankful to no longer be there. If you decide to stay here be careful.
I own a business here in Ellijay and needed a peaceful place to stay close to my business. Plum Nelly Campground was perfect for me. I stayed here for close to a year. I felt safe, it was always peaceful, and quiet. I would recommend this Campground to anyone
I like this campground a lot. It’s nice and quiet, the owners are nice and it’s affordable! Unlike the other places in town that are outrageous and don’t feel nearly as cozy.
Stayed here and wish we hadn’t. We’re not told that they were having water freezing issues and water may be turned off from 9-4, had no water yesterday. First got here, guy staying here said good luck getting wifi, they have 3, he said he had to go buy something. Here a month and none of WiFi’s will even show on tvs. So we get to stare at the walls for a month oh and did I tell you it’s $850 a month with no tv and may or may not have water. Did laundry and girl in laundry room tells my husband someone stole her laundry!!! So I’d be careful before staying here. Tries talking to guy that runs it a couple of times and he was rude both times and told me I needed to check elsewhere. Like it’s our fault the wifi doesn’t work, laundry gets stolen and the other things.
We are building our retirement place in Ellijay and need to be up there 2 nights at a time. Plum Nelly is working with us and our random schedule. We are even able to store our camper there and just move it a few yards to camp when we need! The guy who runs the place is so kind and helpful! THIS IS A CAMPGROUND they do have cabins, but the review is for the camping.
