Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
For RV owners in Georgia who are specifically seeking a consistent and relatively quiet location for long-term RV living, Pondside RV Site in Ray City offers a viable option. While past resident feedback highlights some areas for consideration, the park's core suitability for locals lies in its focus on providing a dedicated space for extended stays in a rural setting.
Firstly, for Georgians looking to utilize their RV as a more permanent or semi-permanent residence, Pondside RV Site caters directly to this need. Its reputation as a place where you can "move your RV or camper there to live there" fills a niche for those seeking an alternative to traditional housing or a stable base for extended periods in South Georgia. This focus on long-term residency often means more competitive monthly rates and a more established community feel than parks geared towards transient travelers.
Secondly, the commitment to maintaining the physical environment is a clear advantage. Residents note that the owner "keeps it clean and the grass mowed," which contributes to a more pleasant and respectable living space. For those living in their RV, a well-kept park enhances comfort and pride in their surroundings. The "nice" surroundings also offer a degree of rural tranquility, appealing to Georgians who prefer a peaceful environment away from city noise.
However, it is crucial for prospective local residents to engage in thorough due diligence. The feedback regarding water quality (suggesting personal filtration) and particularly the owner's management style, including rule enforcement and the absence of a formal rental agreement, requires careful consideration. For locals, understanding these potential aspects upfront is key to a positive experience. It underscores the importance of direct communication with the owner to clarify all terms and expectations before committing to a long-term stay.
Despite these points of consideration, for a Georgian RV owner prioritizing a quiet, maintained site for extended living in the Ray City area, Pondside RV Site can fulfill that fundamental requirement. Its location provides access to local amenities and nearby natural attractions, balancing rural living with convenience. Ultimately, its suitability hinges on individual expectations and a proactive approach to understanding the park's operational nuances, making it a pragmatic choice for a specific segment of the local RV community.
Customer Reviews
The water is horrible (you gotta bleach your lines weekly) even with a 3 step water filtration system. If the owner is upset with another tenant he will take his frustrations out on you! Myself and my wife was told by the owner to stop throwing cigarette butts on the ground over by our campsite (we don’t smoke), but we was told to pick all of them up. Myself and 3 other R/Vs left at the same time because of the owner!
Pondside RV Park GA is a good Campground, if you're looking to move your rv,or camper there to live there. The surroundings are nice, and the owner keeps it clean and the grass mowed. However, he doesn't have a rental agreement or a rental lease agreement, and makes up rules for his personal interests, not yours. Example. There many dogs living here that aren't on a leash, they're all very friendly, yet the owner singled out one tenants yorkie, and told him to put his dog on a leash. With this being said, I highly recommend that you look for some other Campground, to move to.
Very nice, quiet, small RV park. Military welcome. Only 5 minutes to Moody AFB. Monthly rates available. Beautiful view of the pond. Catch and release fishing is allowed, ( residents only ). Owner lives on site. Convince store and Dollar General 1.5 miles away. 11 miles to I-75. Just a few minutes from Valdosta, Hahira, Lakeland or Nashville, GA.
Very picturesque and quiet.
Really Great RV! Park good monthly rates! Landlord is also a pleasure to work with.
