The clear signage and direct access from the highway contribute to a straightforward journey, even for those unfamiliar with the area. This ease of access is a significant advantage, allowing more time for enjoyment and less time for navigating. While the park’s popularity, especially during peak seasons, can lead to it being "astoundingly crowded" as one visitor noted, its accessibility remains a key draw. Planning a visit during the off-season might offer a more tranquil experience, but even when busy, the sheer beauty of the woods and lake makes the journey worthwhile. The clear roads leading to the entrance, where an honor system payment is in place, add to the overall convenience of reaching this beautiful natural retreat.

Ratcliff Recreation Area maintains a simple and affordable fee structure, which contributes to its accessibility and popularity among locals and visitors alike. As a facility within the Davy Crockett National Forest, pricing is typically straightforward and designed to support the maintenance and preservation of the area. The general daily entrance fee is typically $3 per car, collected via an honor system into a bucket at the entrance. This affordable price allows for a full day of enjoyment, whether you’re picnicking, swimming, or fishing. For overnight camping, specific site fees apply, which are also generally very reasonable. While there aren't typically "promotions" in the commercial sense, the park's consistent low pricing makes it an excellent value for outdoor recreation. It's always advisable to carry small bills for the honor system payment. Additionally, federal recreation passes such as the Interagency Annual Pass, Senior Pass, and Access Pass may offer discounts on camping fees or cover the day-use fee, so if you hold one of these, be sure to inquire about its applicability. Beautiful woods in this area. The lake was nice and we enjoyed a little picnic by the lake under the pines. We would have stayed longer and fished but we just did this spontaneously, so we'll have to come here another time. The only issue is that it was astoundingly crowded. The main reason we didn't stay longer than a picnic. I think this will be nice to revisit in the off season, but otherwise, expect it to be completely packed.
May 08, 2025 · Kiara BettencourtBeautiful park and lake. At the entrance you pay following the honor system into a bucket three dollars per car. There is a bathroom with no soap. There are several benches and there is a shade watching the lake. When I was there, everyone seemed very friendly with multiple families and a couple of elderly people. I would recommend coming here for a picnic and enjoying the views and atmosphere.
Mar 21, 2024 · G A (TheFamous)Our 3rd time here. Our most favorite place to camp. A canopy of trees, quiet. There is phone service but at the low end but who cares, we’re there to get away from technology.
May 09, 2024 · Robin TruettBeautiful park, tons of hiking, gorgeous lake to enjoy kayaking, fishing, swimming bird watching. Best place to visit or camp. Get away from the city and be one with nature.
May 07, 2024 · Coutney RayNice, off-the-beaten-path CCC Park with a beautiful lake, plenty of campsites, and nice, clean rest rooms. The hike around the lake is quite scenic and enjoyable, including a nicely documented bird watching area, and a cool trail that actually crosses the dam! I especially enjoy the 100+ yr-old sawmill relics which also have excellent interpretive signage. We love this place so much that a group of my college buddies & I have now made this our annual camping destination. You'll love it, too!
