Stayed here because of location to trout waters. The staff was very friendly and informative. Check-in was super easy and quick. The cabin was a little on the small side for 4 adults but worked great for the purpose. Will definitely stay here again next time we are in the area.

In response to owner response (which now everyone sees what you deal with here): 1,) The site you suggested with gravel was 5-10 Feet TOO SHORT to safely park our rig and had a downward slope at the rear that made it an unsafe option. There was still nowhere with gravel to park our truck on gravel even if we could have magically shrunk to fit the site you’re obsessed with. 2.) The person I spoke with on the phone called the site I booked a pull thru. I assumed they knew what they were talking about. I didn’t mind the site change; I understand that crap happens. 3.) As a small business owner, I get that there’s not the money to instantly bring everything up to snuff, but basic repairs should be made such as repairing the moisture barrier on the dilapidated building at the most basic. It looks like it’s going to fall over any time now. Website photos are also misleading. 4.) If you’re not “big rig friendly”, don’t take reservations from big rigs. I don’t mind mud. We can get in/out of mud and have done it on many occasions. What I didn’t appreciate was getting blamed for sinking in mud in a site you didn’t bother to put gravel in. Website shows well packed gravel sites but it wasn’t that, and again SITE 31 WAS TOO SHORT. I took a star from room rating because upon reconsideration an open field would be an upgrade. I added a photo of site 31. Bathrooms were closed, other buildings besides office in poor repair, and sites available for us were not prepared with gravel or in any other way appropriately for a heavy RV, and that was exactly what they were expecting. Booked a pull thru but got a call before arrival that they gave it to someone else because of a pedestal malfunction. I was promised a river site as compensation, and that seemed fine. At check in, the map they left for us had numerous sites marked as acceptable, so we chose the one we fit in that had the most gravel to park in. Then the rain started, and the ground is a sponge. I did everything I could to tiptoe our truck in to park, but it's a 14k gvwr dually and the front end is heavy. Nine days in I got the following nastygram: "I asked you all kindly to park in site 31 so the big ruts would be avoided but...I see your tire is down pretty good in the mud. But maybe we can get it fixed before the next guest comes in. thanks" First off, 31 does have a TON of gravel. She's right. It's also about 5-10 feet too short for our rig alone not to mention lacking a place to park the truck. There was also a significant drop off and cabins behind that. We picked the site we could fit in with the most gravel, but none had anywhere near enough. If you're a big rig, you're going to sink if it rains. Then the owners will blame you for the lack of gravel and general maintenance to the entire campground. The ONLY reason we stayed is because it was written up as completely nonrefundable. We were very careful coming out, putting the truck in 4x4 low, and we did as little damage as possible to the ill prepared site. Photo is taken after leaving the site, and the ruts are from the truck parking there for 10 days of on and off rain in a spot where there was no gravel. The river view is gorgeous. It's convenient to Elkins and everything in the area. The owners' lack of maintenance and unprofessional behavior ruins the experience. The ground was the consistency of firm pudding and a 14k gvwr dually *only* did this. Notice also the lack of ground prep for an RV and the near absence of gravel. If you're small, sure, come here. They aren't prepared for big rigs.
