Ridges At Royal Blue About
For many Tennesseans, especially those with a passion for ATV and UTV riding, direct trail access is paramount when choosing a campground. Ridges At Royal Blue in Pioneer offers just that: a clean, organized, and dedicated base for exploring the vast Royal Blue trail system. While it's important to set expectations for a no-frills, adventure-focused stay—as this is truly "a campground for ATVs" rather than a resort with extensive amenities—its primary strengths lie in its location and the spaciousness of its sites. Visitors have consistently praised the "easy hookups" and the overall friendliness of the community. If your priority is unhindered access to thrilling trails and a large, comfortable spot for your rig and toys, Ridges At Royal Blue deserves your attention for your next East Tennessee off-road adventure.
Ridges At Royal Blue is located at 6949 Stinking Creek Rd, Pioneer, TN 37847, USA. This address places it directly in Campbell County, a renowned hub for off-road enthusiasts in East Tennessee. The primary highlight of its location is the direct and immediate "entrance to trails closed by," meaning campers have unhindered access to the expansive Royal Blue trail system right from the campground. This is incredibly convenient, saving riders valuable time and effort by eliminating the need to trailer their ATVs or UTVs to a separate trailhead.
However, accessibility to and within the park has some specific considerations for those with large rigs:
- Entrance and Exit Drives: The entrance drive into the park is described as "very steep and can only be accessed coming from the west." Similarly, the exit drive is "also very steep." Both also reportedly have "large potholes," and "many trucks and trailers have a hard time exiting the drive," sometimes requiring them to "hit the gas," which can kick up gravel. This suggests that while navigable, extra caution is needed for larger RVs and trailers.
- Internal Roads: The campground's internal roads are generally manageable, but the steep inclines at entry and exit points are a notable factor.
Despite these specific driving considerations, the ultimate benefit of the location—direct trail access and proximity to the vast Royal Blue area—makes it highly appealing for its target audience. While somewhat rugged in its approach, the very purpose of Ridges At Royal Blue is to serve as a convenient launchpad for an authentic Tennessee off-road experience.
Ridges At Royal Blue is fundamentally structured as an ATV-centric campground, providing core services focused on accommodating recreational vehicles and facilitating trail access. It is important to note that it operates as a more basic, amenity-light facility. Here are the services offered:
- RV Campsites with Hookups: The campground offers individual sites equipped with essential hookups, including water, sewer, and electric. These are described as "great easy hookups."
- Large, Spacious Sites: The sites are noted to be "large with a large gravel area to park your rig, vehicle, and all other toys," providing ample space. "Plenty of space between sites" is also highlighted.
- Direct Trail Entrance: The most significant service is the immediate and unhindered access to the Royal Blue ATV trails right from the park.
- Night Lighting: Sites feature "ground level solar lights on them," providing soft lighting at night.
- Trash Disposal: While not explicitly detailed, basic waste disposal services would be expected for a functional campground.
Crucially, it is explicitly stated that "There are no amenities such as pool, WIFI, dog park and etc." and "No bathroom facilities, so definitely not tent camping friendly." This clarifies that guests should be fully self-contained in their RVs and not expect resort-style amenities. This approach caters to those who prioritize direct trail access and basic, reliable hookups over additional recreational facilities.
Ridges At Royal Blue possesses several key features and highlights that make it a compelling choice for ATV and UTV enthusiasts, despite its deliberate lack of extensive amenities:
- Unbeatable Direct Trail Access: This is the paramount highlight. Being able to access the Royal Blue trails directly from the campground is a massive convenience for riders, maximizing their time on the trails.
- Spacious and Well-Organized Sites: The sites are "large" with "plenty of space between sites," providing ample room for RVs, vehicles, and all accompanying off-road "toys." The park is described as "clean and very well organized."
- Easy Hookups: The "great easy hookups" for water, sewer, and electric ensure a hassle-free setup for RV campers.
- Dedicated to ATV/UTV Community: This is clearly a campground for "ATVs," fostering a shared interest among guests and creating a communal atmosphere for riders.
- Friendly and Sweet Community: Despite the "free for all" feeling in terms of rules sometimes, many visitors find "Everyone was so friendly and sweet," contributing to a positive social environment.
- Ground-Level Solar Lights: The "soft lights at night" provide subtle illumination around the sites, enhancing comfort and visibility after dark.
- Proximity to Challenging and Easy Trails: While it might not have immediate access to the easiest beginner trails (1, 2, 3 as noted by one reviewer), its primary purpose is Royal Blue, which offers diverse difficulty levels including Trail 13 for easier rides.
It is important to acknowledge areas highlighted in reviews that are not highlights but facts for awareness: issues with internal speed limits (both by guests and some staff), a lack of on-site security monitoring despite cameras, and the absence of a direct path to the bathhouse leading people to cut through sites. These aspects inform the overall "free for all" and rustic atmosphere.
As a highly specialized and amenity-light campground primarily focused on providing direct access to ATV trails, Ridges At Royal Blue does not offer traditional "promotions or special offers" like discounts, loyalty programs, or seasonal bundles. Its pricing model seems to be straightforward, with the cost per night averaging around $81, and reviews explicitly stating, "There are no discounts available."
This approach is common for niche campgrounds that offer a distinct, high-demand service (like direct trail access) rather than a wide range of amenities. The value proposition is in the convenience and core facilities provided for serious ATV/UTV enthusiasts.
Therefore, prospective campers should anticipate a fixed rate for their stay. It is always advisable to call directly to confirm current pricing and availability, as rates can change, even if general discounts are not offered. Any potential "special" would likely be related to booking longer durations if such options become available, but this is not indicated in the provided information.

Customer Reviews
Amazing! The park is clean and very well organized. Great easy hookups. Entrance to trails closed by. We absolutely loved our time there and enjoyed their events. Everyone was so friendly and sweet. Tip for parent with children with small four wheelers like 90s to 180s if you are looking for beginners trails - might want to stay at eagle rock because they have access to the three easier trail system. Trails 1,2,3. Trail 13 is easy too for those types of bikes.
The cost per night average to $81. There are no discounts available. This is just a campground with no amenities such as pool, WIFI, dog park and etc. The entrance drive into the park is very steep and can only be access coming from the west. The exit drive is also very steep. Both the entrance and exit have large potholes. We saw many trucks and trailers have a hard time exiting the drive. They had to hit the gas which resulted in gravel going everywhere. Everyone cuts through the sites across from the bathrooms as there is no path to the bath house. You prepay for your site so you do not get your site number without calling them. There is no campground map so you just drive around the park to find your site. Due to no campground rules, dogs are not kept on leases and just walk around the park. The sites are large with a large gravel area to park your rig, vehicle, and all other toys. Plenty of space between sites. The sites have edging at ground level with ground lever solar lights on them. It is nice to have the soft lights at night. This is a campground for ATVs. There are signs up that cameras are in use. If they are up and in use, no one monitors them. Many of the ATVs do not follow the posted rule about the 5 MP speed limit and make gravel fly. Some staff do not observe any speed limits. A staff in a red car came driving into the park at a high rate of speed causing dust to fly everywhere. As there is no staff in the campground, no one is monitored to ensure that good camping etiquette is followed. It is a free for all! Many people not staying in the park drive through the park so make sure you lock up everything. There is no security.
We love camping here! The folks are amazing and Stephanie and PJ in the office are the very best and could not be nicer or more helpful! These girls are on it! We can't wait for our next trip! Great access to trails and the campsites themselves are big and clean and most are easy to maneuver in. Also, we have made some great new riding buddies here! Highly recommended with our best rating. We love it here and you will too!
This is a wonderful campground. The sites are large enough for a camper, side by sides, trail bikes and a truck. Our site backed up to a creek and had a porch swing set up to use. It was a great spot to sit and have coffee first thing in the garden. The restroom/bath house was always clean and was very spacious. They have a small table to use for dressing after showering. The staff were always helpful and truly want you to enjoy your stay.
Very nice campground. We stayed Memorial Day weekend. Expected it to be loud and crowded. The campground was full, but they have nice spacious sites. And actually very quiet for an off road park campground. Sites have full hookups, fire rings, picnic table, and large grassy area. Along with large gravel area with each spot for your camper, vehicle, off road vehicle and even a small trailer if needed. There is no office at the actual campground. So check in is down the road at the Royal Blue store. We will be back!
