Big Creek ATV Campsite About
For many Tennesseans, the call of the wild, particularly the thrill of off-road adventures, is irresistible. If you're an ATV or UTV enthusiast looking for a convenient and relaxing base to explore our state's renowned trail systems, Big Creek ATV Campsite in LaFollette offers a unique and appealing option. This well-maintained RV park provides direct access to the popular Sundquist trails, making it an ideal spot for riders. While it embraces a more rustic, self-sufficient camping style (note: no bathhouse facilities, which is a key detail for planning!), its gorgeous creek-side location, proximity to the Appalachian Trail, and overall relaxing atmosphere make it a favorite among those who prioritize direct trail access and a peaceful setting. For those with self-contained RVs, Big Creek ATV Campsite is a "really nice" place to call home during your East Tennessee adventures.
Big Creek ATV Campsite boasts a highly strategic location at 405-403 N Tennessee Ave, LaFollette, TN 37766, USA. This address places it squarely in Campbell County, a region celebrated for its extensive ATV trails and natural beauty. The most significant aspect of its location is its direct connection to the Sundquist trails, a major draw for off-road enthusiasts. This "within walking distance" access means you can simply unload your rig and hit the trails without the hassle of trailering to a separate trailhead.
Beyond ATV access, the campsite also offers:
- Creek-side setting: Its location "right on the creek" provides a serene and picturesque environment, perfect for relaxation after a day on the trails.
- Appalachian Trail proximity: Being "within walking distance to the Appalachian trail" offers an added recreational bonus for hikers or those simply looking to explore a segment of this iconic national scenic trail.
- Convenience to town: The campsite is "close to town," meaning that while you're immersed in nature, essential services like grocery stores, restaurants, and fuel in LaFollette are just a short, convenient drive away. This balance of secluded outdoor access and urban convenience is a significant advantage for campers.
Accessibility to the campsite is generally straightforward via established roads in LaFollette, leading directly to North Tennessee Avenue. This combination of prime trail access, natural beauty, and local convenience makes Big Creek ATV Campsite an excellent and highly accessible base for your East Tennessee outdoor explorations.
Big Creek ATV Campsite is designed to cater specifically to RV campers and ATV enthusiasts who prioritize convenience and direct trail access. While it offers essential hookups, it's crucial to note its unique service model. Here are the services you can expect:
- RV Park with Hookups: The primary service includes well-maintained RV sites equipped with water, sewer, and electric hookups. This ensures a comfortable and fully functional stay for self-contained RVs.
- Direct Trail Access: The most significant service is the immediate proximity and access to the vast Sundquist trail system, allowing campers to easily unload their ATVs/UTVs and begin their riding adventure.
- Creek-side Sites: Many sites offer a "gorgeous location right on the creek," providing a pleasant ambiance and potential for water access.
- Well Maintained Sites: Reviews indicate the sites are "well maintained," ensuring a clean and functional space for your RV.
- On-Site Parking: Ample space for parking RVs and trailers, crucial for those bringing off-road vehicles.
- Relaxing Atmosphere: Described as a "very relaxing place," the campsite provides a peaceful environment for unwinding after a day of activities.
A key service to be aware of, as highlighted by multiple reviews, is the absence of bathhouse facilities. This means that while RVs have full hookups for their internal facilities, tent camping or those relying on communal restrooms/showers would find this limiting. This design caters specifically to self-contained RVs and those comfortable with a more rustic approach to shared amenities.
Big Creek ATV Campsite offers several key features and highlights that make it an attractive option for its target audience of RVers and ATV enthusiasts:
- Unbeatable Trail Access: Its direct proximity to the Sundquist trails is the top highlight. This allows riders to literally "roll out of bed" and onto the trails, maximizing riding time and minimizing travel hassle.
- Gorgeous Creek-side Location: The setting "right on the creek" provides a beautiful and tranquil backdrop for camping, offering a relaxing environment after a day of high-energy activities.
- Convenience to Town: Despite its natural setting, the campsite is "close to town," meaning easy access to LaFollette for groceries, supplies, restaurants, and other necessities.
- Appalachian Trail Proximity: Being within walking distance to a segment of the Appalachian Trail offers an added bonus for hikers or those interested in experiencing a piece of this famous long-distance footpath.
- Well-Maintained Sites: Visitors consistently praise the "well maintained" condition of the RV sites, ensuring a clean and functional space.
- Relaxing Atmosphere: Despite being a hub for ATV riders, the overall vibe is described as "very relaxing," indicating a peaceful environment when not on the trails.
- Site Variety (with a Best Pick!): The existence of different sites, with Site 12 specifically noted as "definitely the best" due to shade, implies a thoughtful layout and some variation to choose from. The suggestion to bring a canopy for other sites shows a practical understanding of camper needs.
- Full Hookups: The provision of water, sewer, and electric hookups ensures a comfortable stay for RVs, allowing for all the conveniences of home.
The primary feature to be aware of, as highlighted in reviews, is the lack of a bathhouse. While not a negative for self-contained RVs, it's a defining characteristic that shapes the camping experience here.
As a specialized ATV campsite focusing on RV accommodations and direct trail access, Big Creek ATV Campsite likely does not offer traditional, widely advertised "promotions or special offers" in the same way a large, commercial campground might. Their value proposition is built around convenience, location, and essential services for their niche market. However, it's always worth inquiring directly about potential ways to enhance your stay or save:
- Multi-Night or Weekly Rates: Campgrounds often offer discounted rates for booking multiple nights or a full week, which would be beneficial for extended riding trips.
- Off-Season Pricing: During less busy times of the year (e.g., cooler months), there might be slightly reduced rates or more availability for desirable sites.
- Group Discounts: If you're traveling with a large group of ATV riders, inquire if any group rates are available for multiple RV sites.
- Loyalty Programs: While not publicly noted, some local businesses offer a small perk for repeat customers.
The best way to ascertain any current offers, availability, and specific pricing for your planned visit to Big Creek ATV Campsite is to contact them directly using the phone numbers provided.

Customer Reviews
Not much to do there but very relaxing place. Been a few times riding Sunquist trails. No bathhouse that would be nice but understand
Really nice RV park with water, sewer, and electric hookups. Gorgeous location right on the creek, within walking distance to the Appalachian trial. Site 12 is definitely the best, as it's the only one with shade, but they're all good if you have a canopy. Well maintained, and close to town. No bathroom facilities, so definitely not tent camping friendly.
I checked this out. It is an rv camp area big gravel lot with hook ups. You have to reserve online. No shade, tables or fire rings. ATV trail is 100 yards down the street easy access.
Water, electric and sewer currently being installed as is May 1, 2018. Will have 12 full hook-up sites plus dry camping, also parking for off-loading atv/utv.
We love coming here and staying. The campground is always clean and everyone is always super friendly and helpful. The prices are wonderful
