For New Jersey families seeking a dependable, activity-packed, and highly-rated summer destination, Ocean View Resort Campground (OVR) consistently ranks among the top choices. As New Jersey's largest privately owned campground, OVR spans an impressive 180 wooded acres and features 1173 campsites, creating a vast and comprehensive resort experience. Since 1960, the mission has been simple: to ensure a "happy camper" experience by combining the allure of outdoor living with the comforts of a modern resort.
OVR is a haven built for family fun, particularly for those with children. It fosters a vibrant, friendly community, where, as one seasonal visitor noted, the resort is "all about the family with tons of kids." The atmosphere is welcoming and secure, with one family stating they felt "no need to lock your doors," highlighting the trust within the resort's private, gated community. The camp is not just a place to park an RV; it’s an affordable summer home at the Jersey Shore, offering an extensive array of amenities that rivals dedicated amusement parks and water resorts.
The resort caters heavily to Seasonal Campers—those who keep their RVs or park models on-site for the entire operating season, which typically runs from mid-April to mid-October. This strong seasonal presence contributes to the warm, community-driven "OVR Life" that draws families back year after year, building lifelong Jersey Shore memories.

Ocean View Resort Campground boasts a near-perfect location for New Jersey locals looking to maximize their beach time and shore access. Situated at 2555 Shore Rd (Route 9) in Ocean View, NJ, the resort is strategically positioned in the heart of Cape May County's most desirable coastal destinations.
The accessibility is a major selling point for locals:
Direct Beach Proximity: OVR is only about three miles from the pristine, fine, and safe beaches of the Jersey Shore. This translates to an incredibly short drive to Sea Isle City, with its beautiful promenade, and convenient access to the legendary beaches of Stone Harbor and Avalon.
Central Shore Access: The campground is located midway between two of the most popular coastal hubs: Wildwood's action-packed boardwalks and water parks are about 20 miles to the south, while Ocean City’s family-oriented boardwalk and amusement piers are roughly 15 miles to the north.
Regional Attractions: The proximity to the renowned Cape May County Park & Zoo (just 7 miles away) makes for an easy and highly recommended family outing. The area is also rich with other activities, including championship golf courses, boating, kayaking, saltwater fishing, and bird sanctuaries.
In-Resort Transportation: Recognizing its large size, OVR operates a famous 3rd Generation Tram Car, which helps transport guests and their belongings around the sprawling property, enhancing accessibility within the resort itself. The low-speed limits for cars also encourage free and safe bike riding for children throughout the grounds.

OVR’s strength lies in its ability to offer a massive number of sites while maintaining full-service convenience and quality facilities for all 1173 camping units.
Comprehensive Campsite Rentals: A vast majority of sites are "Deluxe" and equipped with 20/30 amp electric service, water, sewer, and cable TV. Premium and Lake Area sites offer 50-amp electric service and pull-through options to accommodate the largest RVs and park models. Every campsite includes a fire ring and picnic table.
Lodging Options: In addition to RV and tent sites, OVR offers Cottage, Cabin, and Trailer rental options, providing a variety of accommodation choices for families who do not own their own RV unit.
Seasonal Living and Sales: For those seeking a permanent summer address, Ocean View Trailer Sales is an on-site dealership offering an exclusive selection of new and used park models and travel trailers directly delivered to seasonal sites, turning them into an "affordable summer home."
Essential Guest Facilities: The resort provides multiple, modern restroom and shower houses located throughout the property, as well as multiple laundry facilities for guest convenience. Firewood is available for purchase at the security entrance booth.
Security and Access: For peace of mind, the campground is gated and provides 24-hour security coverage during the operating season, which contributes significantly to the safe, friendly atmosphere cited by returning guests.
Food and Retail: On-site, guests have access to a fully stocked Camp Store for all forgotten items and souvenirs, plus two dedicated Cafes for casual dining and quick meals.

The family-focused amenities at Ocean View Resort Campground are what set it apart, ensuring that even on non-beach days, there is always something fun and engaging to do on the grounds.
Dual Water Fun: The resort features a huge, fresh-water Swimming Lake complete with a large, private sandy beach—an ideal spot for a "refreshing" swim, as one guest described. Additionally, there is a large swimming pool and the popular Buccaneer Bay Splash Pad for younger children. The pool is noted by guests for being pleasantly "warm, not freezing cold."
Lake Activities and Fishing: Kayaks, paddle boats, and paddle boards are available for rent at the lake. The campground also maintains a separate, stocked fishing pond for catch-and-release fun.
Recreation and Sports: The resort offers a wide range of recreational facilities, including a full-size air-conditioned Activities Building, an 18-hole miniature golf course, two arcades, three playgrounds, and courts for tennis, basketball, shuffleboard, corn hole, and beach volleyball.
Extensive Activities Program: OVR is known for its detailed, fun-filled event calendar. They host special events and themed weekends for the entire family throughout the summer, including outdoor movies and community games like Candy Bingo, ensuring a lively and engaging atmosphere.
Family Atmosphere: The resort prioritizes the family experience. Even though the campsites may be close together, creating a shared community feel, the commitment to safety, shared activities, and a friendly environment makes it a place where "it was all really great" for families, according to satisfied campers.

I loved this campground for these specific reasons. 1. Family friendly 2.great atmosphere 3.really close to the beach I went here with my family one time and it was the best experience I’ve had at campgrounds. Cars go really slow so you can bike ride freely. Pool is warm not freezing cold. Lake is huge and refreshing. The people there are really nice, no need to lock your doors. One thing that I disagree with is that all the campsites are really close together so I feel like we don’t get a lot of privacy. But it does bring the people closer together. If you want somewhere to go for vacation go to ovr!
Aug 05, 2025 · Lenora BrodeenWe are on season 7 and have been 32,000 miles and 18 states. Ocean view resort is top 3 we have been too. This place is awesome. The pool, the lake, the train, the special events, it was all really great! It’s all about the family with tons of kids. Highly recommend this place.
Aug 19, 2025 · Geoffrey CroteauWe love staying at a Family Owned and Ran campground. It is great to see the owner out and about working, talking to his customers and caring about his business. The Turner family always cares about the customer. Oceanview is clean and well ran. The staff is friendly and welcoming. It’s close to Sea Isle City and definitely a fun environment for a family vacation.
Aug 16, 2025 · Kim HarrisWe recently stayed at Ocean View Campground and it was one of the best camping experiences we've ever had! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how clean, well-maintained, and beautifully laid out everything was. The campsites were spacious, private, and surrounded by nature, offering just the right balance of comfort and wilderness. Whether you're in a tent, RV, or cabin, there's a spot for everyone. We appreciated the level gravel pads, fire rings, and picnic tables, all in great condition. The amenities were outstanding—clean restrooms and hot showers, reliable hookups, and even a well-stocked camp store. There were plenty of activities for all ages, including a swimming pool, and a playground for the kids and a sandy lake. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, always available with a smile or a recommendation for things to do in the area. Peaceful nights under the stars, mornings with birdsong, and all the little thoughtful touches made our stay unforgettable. We’re already planning our next trip back. Highly recommend Ocean View to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable outdoor getaway!
Aug 09, 2025 · Deb KentOur campsite is less private than we hoped, with a lot of campsites close together. But the campground is so peaceful with endless fun things to do at the campground and the surrounding area. We wish we could stay longer. Thank you for replying. We are currently located in the G section, but I don’t think my husband will want to pack up to move to another campsite. The more private ones are probably all full. I heard tomorrow is booked thru the weekend so probably not too many options left. The reservation is under my husband’s name, not mine.
