Cove Lake State Park has a long history as a beloved recreational spot in East Tennessee. While some recent comments reflect a sense of change, with one review stating, "Park has went down hill since I was younger. Always looked forward to camping, swimming and riding bikes on the trails. Now the pool is gone camp sites have been stripped of most trees and everything is lack of. They got low overhead with more profit," it's important to consider the broader perspective. Many other visitors continue to rave about their experiences, emphasizing the park's enduring appeal. A satisfied camper enthusiastically shared, "This campground has never disappointed me. I have stayed in the summer, Spring, Fall. Every time it is clean, quiet, and accommodating. The sites are large enough for my needs and will work for most rigs. It seems like a hidden gem that you wouldn’t know is there. Two MASSIVE thumbs up from me." This contrasting feedback highlights that while facilities may evolve, the core experience of peace, cleanliness, and accommodating sites remains a strong draw for many, reinforcing its status as a reliable destination for Tennessee locals.

This campground has never disappointed me. I have stayed in the summer, Spring, Fall. Every time it is clean, quiet, and accommodating. The sites are large enough for my needs and will work for most rigs. It seems like a hidden gem that you wouldn’t know is there. Two MASSIVE thumbs up from me.
This is a great state park. We camped here in a 30ft trailer a number of times. Plenty of room for big and small. Bathrooms are clean, grass is cut, plenty of hiking opportunities, tennis and pickel ball, fishing, and playground for the kids. We particularly enjoyed the story book hike. Family friendly. Easy access from the interstate. Will camp here again. Has electric and water, plus dump station.
The campsites are well kept. The showers were nice with plenty of hot water. Shower houses were equally distant from our well shaded campsite. Wal Mart is about 2.5 miles from the site, which is very convenient in case you forget some tackle and they do have live bait. There is power and water available.
Let me tell you about this place! There's almost no walking trail to speak of, the camping area is pretty small, although it is clean and quiet, you can't launch a jon boat whatsoever anywhere inside the park either. You can however rent a boat, but if you do you'll have to paddle it or bring a trolling motor and battery! If you like camping without any trails and can't stand fishing this quiet place may be for you! You may even give it 5 stars. Personally, i just can't do it!
