Location and Accessibility

Roaring Point Campground is picturesquely located at 2360 Nanticoke Wharf Rd, Nanticoke, MD 21840, USA. This address places it directly on the banks of the Nanticoke River, a significant waterway on Maryland's Eastern Shore, offering direct waterfront access and views.

For Maryland residents, particularly those in the central and southern parts of the state, accessing Nanticoke is a relatively straightforward drive. While it feels "a little bit out of the hustle and bustle," which contributes to its relaxed charm, it's still conveniently connected. From the Baltimore and Annapolis areas, the drive typically involves crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and then heading south on US Route 50 before connecting to local routes that lead to Nanticoke. This provides a scenic journey that eases you into the peaceful Eastern Shore pace.

Nanticoke itself is a small, historic community in Wicomico County, known for its strong ties to the water, fishing, and crabbing industries. While the campground offers a sense of seclusion, the nearby town provides basic services and local charm. For broader needs, the city of Salisbury, a major hub on the Eastern Shore, is within a reasonable driving distance, offering a wider array of dining, shopping, and entertainment options. The specific location of the campground on Nanticoke Wharf Road ensures direct access to the river, making it ideal for water-based activities like fishing, crabbing, and enjoying the magnificent sunsets that paint the sky over the water. This combination of peaceful waterfront setting and reasonable accessibility makes Roaring Point Campground a compelling destination for Maryland's outdoor enthusiasts.

    • Fire Rings: For campfires and cooking.
    • Picnic Tables: For outdoor dining and gathering.

  • Waterfront Access: Direct access to the Nanticoke River is a primary feature, facilitating water-based activities.
  • Fishing/Crabbing Dock: A dock is available for fishing and crabbing. However, it's important to note one review mentioned the dock being in need of repairs, specifically requiring campers to "wade in the water and climb up" to access it, which can be challenging.

  • Loyalty or Repeat Customer Benefits: Given that customers are "Already booked for the same week next year," there might be informal recognition or benefits for loyal, repeat visitors, though this would likely be at the discretion of management.
  • Credit Card Surcharge: It's important to note that one review mentioned a "credit card surcharge." While not a promotion, being aware of this potential additional cost for certain payment methods is important for budgeting. Just spent Four nights there with family and friends. Great laid-back place to relax. Nice sunsets and friendly staff, especially Les Who is a hard-working, funny and friendly employee. Already booked for the same week next year and added a site for more friends. Situated a little bit out of the hustle and bustle it is a good way to kick back and relax.

Campground is in need of repairs. For $100 dollars a night with a credit card surcharge I expected a clean shower and a completed dock. The views are gorgeous. Sites are large and even, but to get on the fishing/crabbing dock you have to wade in the water and climb up (high for me) onto the dock. We were here with our grandsons and one enjoyed catching crabs. There was an art activity one morning. Bingo one afternoon and music in the evening

Nice campground. No cell service so we couldn't call at the locked gate because no one sent my entry packet but other campers came to our rescue! It's a lovely place. We crabbed, fished, and paddle boarded until the weather turned colder. It's secluded and basic. No pool. The little store is well stocked and even has some beer and wine! We used our ebikes to explore nearby parks and were impressed with the amount of green spaces preserved in the area, including several marinas. Very relaxing place to camp. Everyone is very nice. No rowdyness. We'll be back again! Oh and the land end of the pier is missing and a rather funny drop off into the water during high tides.

Love the location, swimming was great and the band they had in Saturday was awesome. People were all super friendly and the grounds taken care of well. Only negative thing was bath house, toilets clean but the shower could use some love. Other than that small detail the place is great.
