Ruby Lake Campground About

Introduction / Overview

For those in West Virginia looking for a straightforward, friendly, and peaceful camping experience, Ruby Lake Campground in Sandyville offers a welcoming option. This campground is known for its intimate setting and the genuine hospitality of its owner and staff, making it more than just a place to park your RV or pitch a tent; it's a spot where you can feel at ease.

Ruby Lake Campground caters to travelers seeking a convenient stopover or a quiet, short-term retreat. While it might not boast an extensive list of resort-style amenities, its core appeal lies in its well-maintained sites and the personal touch provided by the management. Visitors consistently highlight the friendly nature of the owner and staff, which significantly enhances the overall camping experience. This emphasis on hospitality creates a comfortable atmosphere for all guests.

The campground features a "cute little pond," which serves as a charming focal point, attracting ducks and adding to the serene ambiance. It offers essential hookups for RVs, ensuring a comfortable stay. For West Virginians who appreciate a quiet environment, a friendly face, and a convenient location for a quick stop or a few days of relaxation, Ruby Lake Campground presents itself as a practical and pleasant choice in the heart of the state.

Location and Accessibility

Ruby Lake Campground is located at 4 Ruby Lake, Sandyville, WV 25275, USA. Sandyville is a small, unincorporated community situated in Jackson County, West Virginia. This location places the campground in a more rural and quiet setting, offering a peaceful escape from busier areas.

Despite its tranquil nature, the campground is noted for its convenience. It is located "four miles off of Interstate 77," a major north-south artery running through West Virginia. This proximity to I-77 makes Ruby Lake Campground highly accessible for travelers passing through the state, whether heading north towards Ohio or south towards Charleston and beyond. Its location near a major interstate simplifies navigation for RVs and ensures an easy detour for an overnight stay or a brief respite.

The campground is part of a "larger trailer park," which might imply a mix of transient camping sites and more permanent residences, a common arrangement in many smaller, locally-run campgrounds. The roads within the park are described as "dirt," and while the sites are generally "level," larger rigs might need to navigate these roads carefully, though most RVs should find it manageable.

For West Virginia locals, Sandyville offers a relatively easy drive from many parts of the state. The quiet country roads leading to the campground contribute to the sense of getting away from it all, while the quick access to I-77 ensures that nearby towns for supplies or gas are never too far away. The rural setting, combined with interstate accessibility, makes Ruby Lake Campground a convenient stop for a variety of local travel needs.

Promotions or Special Offers

While specific, detailed promotions or special offers are not explicitly outlined in the provided public reviews, the personal nature of Ruby Lake Campground and its welcoming approach suggest a flexible and accommodating management style. The review mentioning that the owner "letting us stay overnight even though we had no cash available" hints at a willingness to assist guests, which can be more valuable than a formal discount program.

In the broader context of smaller, privately owned campgrounds in West Virginia, typical "promotions" often manifest in the following ways:

  • Flexible Booking and Payment: As seen in the review, the willingness to accommodate unique situations (like no cash on hand) suggests a more personal and less rigid approach to guest services and potentially payment, which can be a significant benefit.

  • Competitive Standard Rates: Many smaller campgrounds offer inherently competitive daily or weekly rates, focusing on value for essential services rather than large, advertised discounts.

  • Potential for Extended Stay Rates: While not stated, campgrounds often provide reduced rates for longer bookings (e.g., weekly or monthly) compared to daily rates. Given its "trailer park" aspect, there might be options for extended or seasonal stays that offer better value.

  • Discounts for Specific Affiliations: Some campgrounds might offer discounts for military personnel, seniors, or members of RV clubs (like Good Sam or AAA), though this would need to be confirmed directly with Ruby Lake Campground.

Since formal advertisements for promotions are not present, the most reliable way to inquire about any current deals, extended stay rates, or other special considerations is to contact Ruby Lake Campground directly. Given the positive feedback on the staff's friendliness and helpfulness, a direct phone call (304) 273-3427 or +1 304-273-3427 would likely provide the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding their pricing and any available offers.

What a great little place to stay! If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing camping get away, this is a a wonderful choice. If you are looking for a resort with fancy activities and services, you should probably be looking at hotels and not campgrounds. Level sites around the little lake with lots of opportunity to see geese and ducks. Kids will enjoy the playground.

Its a small campground located in the middle of a mobile home park. We didn't think we would like it at first. We were wrong. There is a bath house. Not very modern, but comfortable. A laundry room. Free wifi. And the owner - Joe - is a prince of a fellow that went out of his way to make our week long stay comfortable. I would recommend this park to everyone and plan on staying again.
