Shiloh Mobile Home Park About
For many Louisiana residents, mobile home parks offer an accessible pathway to homeownership or long-term rental, providing a sense of community often not found in other housing types. In the dynamic city of Scott, Louisiana, Shiloh Mobile Home Park has been a part of the local housing landscape, aiming to provide a living space for its residents.
However, discerning prospective residents will find that Shiloh Mobile Home Park elicits a wide range of opinions from its current and past occupants. While some reviews paint a picture of a peaceful, well-managed community with reasonable rent and welcoming neighbors, others raise serious concerns about safety, maintenance, and adherence to park rules. This duality makes it essential for anyone considering Shiloh Mobile Home Park to delve into both perspectives to form a comprehensive understanding of what living there might entail. This article aims to present a factual overview, drawing directly from the provided feedback, to help local users make an informed decision.
Shiloh Mobile Home Park is located at 1111 Roper Rd, Scott, LA 70583, USA. This address places it in Scott, Louisiana, a growing town known for its strong community feel and its designation as "The Boudin Capital of the World." Scott offers residents a blend of small-town charm with convenient access to larger urban amenities.
Roper Road itself is a local artery that connects easily to other main roads within Scott and the wider Lafayette Parish area. For residents, this means straightforward access to essential services, including grocery stores, schools within the Lafayette Parish School District, and healthcare facilities. More importantly, Shiloh Mobile Home Park's location in Scott provides excellent connectivity to Interstate 10 (I-10), a major east-west thoroughfare in Louisiana. This allows for convenient commutes to jobs in Lafayette, Baton Rouge, or Lake Charles, and easy access to the region's cultural attractions, dining, and shopping centers. The property's official website also notes that residents can "easily access best of class retailers within minutes of the property including Albertsons, Walmart, Target, Chick-fil-a and many others," further highlighting its accessibility to modern conveniences.
Shiloh Mobile Home Park aims to provide a set of services typical of a mobile home community, focusing on lot rentals and basic amenities. However, as noted in the overview, there are conflicting reports regarding the quality and consistency of these services.
- Lot Rentals: The core service is the provision of lots for mobile homes. These typically come with hookups for essential utilities such as water, sewer, and electricity.
- Grounds Keeping and Management: One review praises "Grounds keepers and management" as "the epitome of god sent professionals," suggesting a commitment to maintaining the property. The official website also states "Common area landscaping services provided."
- Security Measures: The official website mentions "SECURITY CAMERAS," indicating an effort to enhance safety within the park.
- Paved Roads and Off-Street Parking: The park features "PAVED ROADS" and "OFF STREET PARKING" for residents, contributing to ease of access and parking convenience.
- Trash Disposal: The park provides "DUMPSTERS" for waste management. However, some reviews mention issues with "overflowing every week and the trash blows into the front yards of nearby trailers," suggesting inconsistencies in this service.
- Community Rules and Enforcement: Management attempts to maintain order with rules such as "No large pets, no fighting, and no loud music without permission and or permit." However, resident experiences vary on the effectiveness of this enforcement.
Shiloh Mobile Home Park presents a mixed bag of features and highlights, reflecting the varied experiences of its residents. It's crucial to consider both the positives and the concerns raised.
- Reasonable Rent (Reported): One positive highlight from a resident is that the "Rent is reasonable," which is a significant factor for those seeking affordable housing options in the area.
- Perceived Peacefulness (Conflicting): One review explicitly states it's "pretty peaceful" and "Best Mobile home trailer park without a pool in the area." However, another review heavily contradicts this, describing "Lots of shootings...fights...drugs...and break ins and robbers." This is a major point of contention and requires further personal investigation for prospective residents.
- Professional Management (Conflicting): One positive highlight praises "management is the epitome of god sent professionals." The official website also lists features like security cameras and common area landscaping.
- Defined Community Rules: The park has clear rules regarding "No large pets, no fighting, and no loud music without permission and or permit." There is also a specific rule: "Not allowed to have pit bulls but any other dog is allowed."
- Welcoming Atmosphere (Reported): A long-term resident states, "I have always felt welcomed here," suggesting a friendly aspect to the community.
- Convenient Location: Situated in Scott, the park offers easy access to I-10 and essential retailers, as highlighted by its official information, providing practical convenience for daily living.
- On-Site Amenities: The park features "PICNIC AREA" and a "SOCCER FIELD," offering recreational opportunities for residents.
- Security Cameras: The presence of "SECURITY CAMERAS" is a listed feature aimed at enhancing safety.
- Concerns about Safety and Environment: Countering the positives, severe negative feedback includes "Lots of shootings...fights...drugs...and break ins and robbers," concerns about "Rats and mice," reports of "water was no good here," and issues with "bad bad children bust empty beer bottles in the streets. And start fights with everyone." These deeply concerning reports should be investigated thoroughly.
Publicly available information, including the provided reviews and the park's limited online presence, does not detail any specific promotions or special offers for Shiloh Mobile Home Park. While no current promotions are advertised, prospective residents should always contact Shiloh Mobile Home Park directly to inquire about:

For locals in Louisiana, particularly those in the Lafayette area considering mobile home living, Shiloh Mobile Home Park in Scott presents a complex picture that requires careful consideration. Its suitability largely depends on individual priorities and a willingness to conduct thorough personal research.
On one hand, some local residents might find it appealing due to its reported "reasonable rent," which is a significant factor in the housing market. The park's stated features, such as "PAVED ROADS," "OFF STREET PARKING," "SECURITY CAMERAS," and dedicated recreational areas like a "PICNIC AREA" and "SOCCER FIELD," suggest a community with some desirable amenities. For those who value clear rules regarding pets (no large pets, specifically no pit bulls, but other dogs allowed) and noise (no loud music without permission), the park offers a structured environment. One reviewer's strong positive experience ("Best Mobile home trailer park... I have always felt welcomed here") points to the potential for a positive living situation for certain individuals or families who find this specific community to be a good fit. The praise for "Grounds keepers and management" as "god sent professionals" also highlights a positive aspect of park operations.
However, it is crucial for any local considering Shiloh Mobile Home Park to be fully aware of the highly concerning negative feedback from other residents. Reports of "Lots of shootings...fights...drugs...and break ins and robbers," along with issues of "Rats and mice," "bad bad children bust empty beer bottles in the streets," and even a news report about "water was no good here," paint a starkly different picture of the living environment. These serious allegations concerning safety, public health, and community management cannot be overlooked.
Therefore, for a local to find Shiloh Mobile Home Park suitable, they would need to:
- Prioritize the potentially reasonable rent and specific pet policy.
- Be willing to thoroughly investigate the current safety and maintenance conditions.
- Be proactive in speaking with current residents and management to get a real-time understanding of the community dynamics and address the serious concerns raised in reviews.
- Confirm the water quality and any ongoing issues directly with the park and potentially local authorities.
In conclusion, Shiloh Mobile Home Park offers a set of amenities and a potentially reasonable cost of living that might appeal to some locals. However, the stark contrast in resident experiences, particularly concerning safety and maintenance, dictates that any interested local should exercise extreme diligence and conduct a comprehensive personal assessment before considering it as their home in Scott, Louisiana.
