For South Dakotans considering Silver Glen Manufactured Housing Community, its suitability as a living option hinges on a balance of its potential benefits against the reported challenges. For certain local individuals and families, it might still represent a viable housing choice, primarily due to its affordability and the opportunity for homeownership in Sioux Falls.
One of the most significant reasons locals consider manufactured housing is the accessible price point. In a growing city like Sioux Falls, where housing costs can be a barrier, owning a manufactured home and leasing a lot often presents a more economical path to having your own property, complete with a yard and a sense of detached living. This can be particularly appealing to those seeking an alternative to apartment rentals or traditional home purchases that might be out of reach financially.
Furthermore, for those who value a community feel, the park offers a neighborhood structure. While management responsiveness has been a concern, the positive sentiment from residents about "neighbors helping each other out" highlights a strong, inherent community spirit within the park itself. For some South Dakotans, living amongst friendly neighbors who foster a supportive environment can be a crucial factor in their housing decision.
The location in western Sioux Falls also provides residents with practical access to city amenities – schools, shopping, healthcare, and employment opportunities are all within a reasonable commute. This allows residents to enjoy a quieter, residential setting while still benefiting from the conveniences of urban living in South Dakota's largest city.
However, it is crucial for locals to carefully weigh these benefits against the significant concerns raised by current and past residents, particularly regarding property management's responsiveness and issues related to community safety and crime. Prospective residents are strongly encouraged to visit the community in person, speak with current residents if possible, and directly address any concerns with the property management to make an informed decision that aligns with their expectations for a safe and well-managed living environment in Sioux Falls. While the potential for affordable homeownership exists, understanding the full scope of the resident experience is paramount.
Customer Reviews
Was screamed at by the property management twice despite never being late on rent and being all around decent renters. Made a call to be open about our lawnmower not working and was told that i "always have an excuse". We asked to continue our lease and never received anything to continue that so at anytime they could have told us to leave. And community wise, our cars were broken into twice and they kind of didn't seem to care much. Don't think they rent anymore but I'd stay away from this place regardless.
Extremely displeased. offered my home to the fire department for training however they could not burn it here, I would have had to get it moved at my expense. Crime has been on the up swing, many vehicles being invaded the past few weeks some more than once. I filed a police report however the others have not. They feel it will get no action here anyway so why waste their time. My recommendation is avoid this place if you can, only thing going for it is most the neighbors do try helping each other out, the management very substandard
Me and my family have lived in this community for a year now. Most people and neighbors are nice and welcoming, but the lot rent is getting more expensive if you own a manufacture home. The crime is getting more frequent, but in all it is a nice community.
I moved to the trailer court in October 2015 I've had nothing but problems. Refusal to fix things etc I reported them to the attorney general and when I went to pay my rent they refused it and told me I wasn't allowed in the office. My furnace broke down when it was -35° and it wasn't fixed until the 4th time it broke down. There have been several other issues. I wouldn't recommend renting here you get treated like crap.
BEWARE: the man that manages this (Jared) “fixes” up homes. Right after moving into a place that he “flipped”, one of his new ceiling fans he bragged about putting in fell and luckily only the blade hit my 18 month daughter on the way down. So now we are beginning the process of taking him to court. Save your time and money and protect your families.
