Imagine waking up to a breathtaking view of a shimmering lake, with the promise of a day filled with relaxation or exciting water activities. Look no further than Site 90 at McKinney Campground, a highly sought-after spot nestled on the scenic shores of Lake Allatoona in Acworth, GA. This article is designed to provide you with a comprehensive overview of what makes this particular campsite, and the broader McKinney Campground, an ideal destination for your next outdoor escape.

McKinney Campground is celebrated as one of North Georgia's premier camping destinations, renowned for its pristine setting, well-maintained facilities, and direct access to the expansive waters of Lake Allatoona. While the campground as a whole offers a fantastic experience, specific sites like Site 90 often stand out for their unique advantages, such as exceptional views. Whether you're an avid RVer, a traditional tent camper, or someone looking to enjoy the tranquility of nature, McKinney Campground, and particularly its desirable waterfront sites, promises a memorable and comfortable experience right here in your home state.

Location and Accessibility

Site 90, like the rest of McKinney Campground, is ideally located at 475X+5C, Allatoona Beach, GA 30102, USA. This places it directly on the banks of the magnificent Lake Allatoona, a popular reservoir managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and now Bartow County, renowned for its recreational opportunities. The campground’s strategic position makes it easily accessible for residents across Georgia, including those in the greater Atlanta metropolitan area, often just a short, scenic drive away from major interstates. While some roads leading to the campground might be typical for natural areas, they generally provide clear access.

The beauty of this location lies in its balance between secluded natural charm and practical convenience. While you'll feel miles away from the hustle and bustle, essential services and local attractions are within reasonable driving distance in nearby Acworth and Cartersville. These towns offer access to grocery stores, gas stations, and other amenities, ensuring you have everything you need for a comfortable stay. Beyond the immediate campground, the Lake Allatoona area itself is a hub for outdoor enthusiasts, offering additional opportunities for hiking, exploring historical sites, or simply enjoying the picturesque landscape of North Georgia. One aspect to consider, as noted by a reviewer, is the proximity to a train line on the opposite side of the lake. While this offers picturesque views of passing trains, the horns can be noticeable, especially for light sleepers. However, for many, the stunning lake views and overall serenity of the site far outweigh this minor inconvenience.

Nice spot overlooking lake. Only downside for me personally, the train that goes by on other side of lake and has to blow its horn at nearest intersection. 1/2 mile away. Not easy if you are a light sleeper
