Promotions or Special Offers

As Skipout Lake Boating Site is designated as a free camping area within the Black Kettle National Grasslands, the concept of "promotions" or "special offers" in the traditional commercial sense does not apply. The primary and ongoing "offer" is its free access for camping for up to 14 consecutive days.

However, it's important for Oklahomans planning a visit to understand the value of this free access. While there are no monetary discounts or loyalty programs, the benefit lies in the absence of a nightly fee, which is a significant saving for any traveler. This allows for a budget-friendly outdoor experience that is increasingly rare in developed recreational areas.

Instead of promotions, visitors should focus on the established rules and guidelines set by the U.S. Forest Service for camping within national grasslands. These typically include:

  • 14-Day Stay Limit: Adherence to the maximum stay duration to ensure fair access for all visitors.

  • Leave No Trace Principles: Campers are expected to pack out everything they pack in, maintaining the pristine condition of the site.

  • Fire Safety: Adherence to any current fire restrictions, especially during dry seasons.

For specific regulations or any updates on the site, contacting the Black Kettle National Grasslands office would be the most reliable source of information, rather than seeking promotional deals. The free access itself is the most compelling "offer" for Oklahomans seeking an affordable and authentic camping experience.

We stayed one night, no other campers. A bit unsettling, but we were fine. We didn't use any of the facilities. Level ground, paved, lots of space to stay up to 14 days. Best of all it is free. Trash pick up is early Friday morning .
