Are you a Texan family or group seeking a camping experience where everyone, regardless of physical or developmental challenges, can fully participate and thrive? Finding an inclusive and truly accessible outdoor retreat can often be a significant hurdle, as many traditional campgrounds present barriers. We understand the importance of a welcoming and accommodating environment, and that's precisely why we are thrilled to introduce you to Camp For All, a pioneering campground nestled in Burton, Texas. This isn't just any camp; it's a nationally recognized, truly barrier-free facility specifically designed to "level the playing field" and provide life-changing experiences for children and adults with challenging illnesses, disabilities, or special needs. From the moment you arrive, you'll discover a place where every detail is thoughtfully crafted to foster independence, joy, and unforgettable memories for all campers.
Camp For All stands as a testament to inclusive design and compassionate programming. Founded with the mission to create a unique place where individuals with challenging illnesses or special needs could experience the joy of camp, it officially opened its gates in 1998. What makes Camp For All truly exceptional is its collaborative business model. Instead of operating as a public-facing campground for individual bookings, Camp For All partners with over 65 different nonprofit organizations each year. These partner organizations bring their campers—children and adults with various medical conditions, disabilities, or special needs—along with their own medical staff and in-cabin counselors. Camp For All, in turn, provides the meticulously designed barrier-free camp, professional program staff, universally adaptive activities, and appropriate food services.
This innovative approach ensures that nearly 9,000 campers each year benefit from an environment free of everyday barriers, fostering self-confidence and allowing them to focus on what they can do. While one review mentioned specific cabin conditions that may have varied for a particular group, the overarching mission and design of Camp For All prioritize accessibility and adaptive programming above all else. The commitment to creating an inclusive culture where every camper is respected and celebrated is evident throughout the entire 206-acre site, making it a leader in providing transformational outdoor experiences for the special needs community.
Camp For All boasts a strategic location in the heart of Central Texas, making it an accessible and convenient destination for partner organizations and their campers from across the state and beyond. Situated at 6301 Rehburg Rd, Burton, TX 77835, USA, the camp benefits from a tranquil setting encompassed by lush landscapes and rolling hills. This provides a serene and natural backdrop for therapeutic recreation, allowing campers to connect with nature away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Burton, Texas, offers a charming small-town atmosphere, and its location is highly advantageous for regional travel. Camp For All is positioned roughly equidistant from major Texas metropolitan areas like Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. This accessibility is crucial for the diverse groups and families that visit, minimizing travel burdens and making it a viable option for multi-day programs. While the immediate vicinity offers a quiet rural feel, the broader area provides access to necessary services and the cultural richness of nearby towns, ensuring that logistical needs can be met. The beauty of its location lies in its ability to feel like a true escape into nature, yet remain within reach for the communities it serves, solidifying its role as a central hub for accessible outdoor experiences in Texas.
Camp For All offers an extensive array of services and facilities, all meticulously designed with a "barrier-free" philosophy to ensure that every individual, regardless of their challenges, can fully participate and enjoy the camp experience. Their commitment to universal accessibility is evident in every aspect of their operations.
Camp For All stands out with an impressive array of features and highlights that underscore its unique mission to provide truly barrier-free experiences. These elements go beyond standard camping amenities, focusing on inclusivity and transformative fun for children and adults with special needs.
Camp For All operates on a unique collaborative model, partnering with over 65 nonprofit organizations that serve children and adults with challenging illnesses, disabilities, or special needs. Because of this, traditional "promotions or special offers" as might be found at a public campground are not applicable in the usual sense. Instead, the "offer" is the life-changing, barrier-free camp experience itself, which is largely subsidized through Camp For All's fundraising efforts.
In essence, the "promotion" for Camp For All is its very existence as a unique, barrier-free facility, made possible by generous donations and its innovative partnership model, rather than direct booking discounts for individual campers.
Connecting with Camp For All is vital for understanding how your child or adult with challenging illnesses, disabilities, or special needs can experience this extraordinary barrier-free camp. As Camp For All primarily operates through partnerships with other nonprofit organizations, direct individual bookings for families are not the typical pathway. However, their contact information is available for general inquiries, partner organizations, and those wishing to support their mission.
For individuals seeking to attend a camp at Camp For All, the best first step is to visit their official website and navigate to their "Find Your Camp" or "Partners" section. This will guide you to the various nonprofit organizations that collaborate with Camp For All, as they are the ones who bring the campers. If you represent a nonprofit organization interested in partnering, or for general inquiries about Camp For All's mission, facilities, or how to support their cause, you can use the provided phone numbers or look for an email contact on their website. Their team is dedicated to their mission and will be able to provide the necessary guidance.
For Texans, Camp For All is not just suitable; it is an invaluable and truly unique resource within our state. It specifically addresses a critical need that many traditional campgrounds and recreational facilities simply cannot meet: providing a fully accessible and barrier-free outdoor experience for children and adults with challenging illnesses, disabilities, or special needs. For families in Texas navigating these challenges, knowing there's a place like Camp For All means their loved ones can "experience the thrill of camping and nature, just like their able-bodied peers," as one grateful family attested after their Duchenne family camp.
The intentional design, from 8-foot wide sidewalks to adaptive equipment for activities like horseback riding and swimming, ensures that physical limitations are removed, allowing the focus to shift to what campers can do. This fosters a profound sense of independence and self-confidence. While one past review mentioned minor issues like bugs or bathroom privacy, the overwhelming evidence points to Camp For All's core mission: creating an inclusive environment through dedicated staff and adaptive programming. For Texas families and organizations supporting individuals with special needs, Camp For All represents a beacon of hope and joy, offering a safe, empowering, and truly transformative camping experience right here at home.
We were there for Duchenne family camp. Everything was wheelchair accessible for the kids. The cabins, campground, staff & activities were perfect! Can’t wait to return!
Mar 09, 2025 · Rae LoranceI went to camp with my school for 3 days and two nights the food and activities were pretty good the only thing I did not enjoy was CABIN 8 ( the cabin I was in ) on the first day we got there I went to our cabin and walked straight to the bathroom I could not believe how disgusting the bathrooms looked I’ve heard this camp was around since 1980 but these bathrooms did not looked like they’ve been improved but anyways there was bugs in the sink everywhere the bathrooms only had curtains no doors at all which ment no privacy the shower water was pretty nice warm water and all that but then the next day we opened a door that was in the restroom we opened it and it had a circle with a star 2 of them! I was scared but of course me and my friends did the dumbest thing we entered the room turned off the lights and my friends outside closed the door on us and we started screaming I almost peed myself, next was that there was a snake in our cabin at like 10:20 and a frog in the morning

Apr 17, 2022 · LivingLifeFuckNiggaFree GodinezA really fabulously lovely recreation retreat for groups that come together to play once a year in the boonies of central TX. There’s quite a long waiting list for groups because it it has been a coveted place to stay for 28 years. I joined a group as a nurse managing Med administration and first aid situations for 80 adult campers with intellectual disabilities and 40 staff and counselors. The CFA website shows fabulous photos, better than my own, so check it out. Everything and everywhere is handicap friendly on the grounds. Archery, boating, pool and water activities, Zip line, arts and crafts, rock climbing, dancing, basketball - who could ask for more?? Food was tasty, but lots of salt. Vegetables were provided including a nice healthy salad bar. July was extremely hot and dry in 2022, so campers were really coached to drink lots of fluids as they went from fun event to fun event. As a result, we only had a few campers suffering heat related health issues. Some room for improvement might be to add more opportunities for campers to be in shade while swimming, at certain activities like being in the amphitheater. Loud speakers in several cabins were faulty, causing horribly loud announcements that truly hurt ears. The water pressure was intermittently unreliable and sewage smells in the main building and a few cabins resulted from slow drains. Overall, the CFA staff and volunteers were phenomenal getting 5 out of 5. Kitchen staff was fabulous, kind, patient and extremely clean = 5 out of 5. The 4 out of 5 rating reflected excessively salty food, faulty loud speakers in some cabins, water pressure and lack of adequate shade for many activities, however, in a summer that has been the hottest on record, some of these observations are not in anyone’s control. I’d be honored to return again and am telling everyone about how terrific the experience has been.
