If I could give zero stars I would . The owners have the worst customer service ever. They are drunk and rude swearing at children. They made my wife cry within minutes of arriving. Turn our summer camping into a nightmare. I told the owner you can't swear at my kids and he replied that he doesn't talk to people good. Wife is even worse. Do not go. Lake is beautiful but the rest is crap. Bathrooms are disgusting and there has been the same dirty clothes and towel on the floor all year. Toilet had smeared feces all over seat and handle of toilet for a week. Probably still there
Sep 09, 2025 · Jonathan BourkeI normally do not give poor reviews but the way my family, friends and I have been treated by Terri and Pat is inexcusable. The first season we were there was great. Besides the very dirty, never cleaned bathrooms we had a lot of fun. This year has been a complete nightmare. Pat has gotten inebriated a few times and yelled at us and guests for "breaking rules" that every other guest does. On the 4th of July weekend there was no place to park our boat trailer and at least 4 other spots had theres parked in front of their spots. It seems like if you haven't been there for years you're held at different standards. I got there and after only 5 minutes Terri came flying up on her golf cart and slammed on the breaks so hard she slid into our spot. She then began to yell at me in front of our kids and guests. She insisted I come to the office as soon as I got there. We had kids and a dog in the truck for 4 hours and I needed to get them taken care of and the truck unloaded first. My husband and I then went down to the office then Terri and Pat started yelling at us. After not going up there for 2 months when we paid for the whole year, Pat then tells my husband that we need to leave by Oct 1, they obviously don't understand how laws work and denied us a 30 day written notice. I am appalled by the way we were treated. I know many have had good experiences but that's from Family and friends which seem to be part of the "clique" There are many good ways to run a business and none of them are done at Spruce hills.
Sep 08, 2025 · Apani ChavezI’ve been a guest at this campground 3 times and had bad interactions with the owner 2 of those times. The owner felt the need to stumble down the stairs of his camper at ten at night to yell at myself, my friend and 2 young boys as I was teaching one of the boys how to fillet a fish. Said we were way too loud. He stumbled his way back into his camper to continue drinking with his gathering of 3 or 4 other drunks inside. The second time I seen him was this past Sunday, 8/30/25. 11am he pulls up to the camper in his car and steps out looking like he either hadn’t slept yet or had started the morning out with a pick me up. Eyes bloodshot and hands in his pockets. He didn’t even have the decency to walk up to the steps of my friends camper and talk face to face. He told my friend the camper has to be gone by oct. 1st. 3 weeks away. No explanation, no discussion. No reason why, besides saying they are changing the back corner of the campground. I can’t stress enough how unprofessional and rude our treatment was. The owners have no idea how to conduct themselves with people. They are without doubt very accomplished and heavy drinkers. I will never visit this place again and would not even consider putting a camper or wheelhouse in this campground. My friends gave these people thousands of dollars and have been treated extremely bad. Park Rapids is beautiful and has lots of nice family friendly campgrounds, this is not one of them.
Sep 09, 2025 · Mark JamesI have done a lot of camping in my life and this campground was a complete disappointment. The facilities were disgusting and in much need of a cleaning and update. The owners were quite rude and made us feel very unwelcome. It was obvious that they were drunk and yelling at both adults and children. If you are looking for a decent place to vaca with the family, I would look elsewhere. I know we will be. What a horrible experience.
Sep 08, 2025 · Cindy WellsThe treatment of my friends that have an RV there is not the way to run a business! I saw the owner yelling at a young person like a maniac, there was no reason for any of the actions that have been going on. The campsite owners are tyrants to anyone not in the clique. If you’re looking for a nice friendly place to take your loved ones- this is not it. Go anywhere else!
