Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach is located at 5800 SC-90, Conway, SC 29526, USA. While the name includes "Myrtle Beach," it's important for South Carolina locals to note that the resort is situated in Conway, which is inland from the immediate coastline. However, this slight distance from the bustling beachfront allows the resort to offer a sprawling, amenity-rich environment that might not be possible closer to the shore.

While you won't be stepping directly onto the sand from your RV site, Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach does offer a private beach club with a shuttle service for guest convenience, aiming to bridge the gap to the ocean. This thoughtful amenity helps ensure that the beach remains a accessible part of your vacation, even from a slightly inland location. Moreover, being in Conway provides a quieter setting away from the immediate tourist crowds, while still keeping all the attractions of Myrtle Beach within reasonable driving distance for day trips.

For South Carolina residents, Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach in Conway offers a compelling and comprehensive RV and glamping experience that stands out from typical campgrounds. Its suitability for locals lies in its ability to provide a full-fledged vacation destination right in their backyard, minimizing travel time and maximizing leisure, while catering to diverse family needs.
Firstly, while it's acknowledged that the park is a "little drive to the beach," this slightly inland location in Conway actually offers a significant benefit for locals: a sprawling resort property with extensive amenities that would be difficult to find closer to the crowded Myrtle Beach coastline. This allows for a more relaxed and spacious environment, free from the constant hustle and bustle of the direct beachfront areas, yet still providing convenient access to all the Grand Strand attractions via a short drive or the resort's own shuttle service to their private beach club.
Secondly, the sheer volume and quality of on-site amenities are a major draw. For South Carolina families, having a Carolina Splash Water Park, multiple pools (including an indoor option and a lazy river), an arcade, mini-golf, and various sports courts all within the resort means endless entertainment, regardless of age or weather. This "resort-style" approach means you can spend your entire vacation enjoying the property without feeling the need to leave, offering immense value and convenience for a local family getaway. It's a true "staycation" destination where everyone can find something to enjoy.
Moreover, the variety of accommodations, from full-hookup RV sites (including spacious concrete pads for larger rigs) to comfortable vacation cottages, means that whether you're a seasoned RVer or looking for a glamping experience, Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach can cater to your preference. This flexibility makes it accessible to a broader range of South Carolina residents. While some past reviews indicate areas for improvement like bathhouse cleanliness or chair availability at pools, the overall scope of amenities and the potential for a fun-filled, active vacation make it a strong contender for locals seeking a dynamic and memorable trip without venturing too far from home.
In essence, Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach delivers an all-encompassing vacation experience. It’s ideal for South Carolinians who prioritize abundant on-site activities, resort amenities, and a family-friendly atmosphere, providing a vibrant and convenient escape just a short drive from the excitement of the Grand Strand.
Customer Reviews
We made an impromptu trip to Sun Outdoors MB this past week. We were able to find a spot easily, and booking was fairly simple online. While we enjoyed the pools, the campground did not live up to its expectations. The bathhouses were completely filthy and stunk. The pools fill up quickly and we could not find any empty chairs (although many were “saved” with nobody occupying the chair). Be careful of the kids on scooters, bikes, and golf carts. They do not pay attention at all. The food is mediocre. You are not allowed coolers at the pool, which was a big downside, especially with a baby. The park is a little drive to the beach, which we knew going that is was. The people really weren’t super friendly like at other campgrounds we have went to. Would we return? Maybe. But there are better options in the area.
The facility and its amenities were beautiful. We stayed it one of their vacation cottages. My husband is handicapped so we rented an ADA compliant cottage. And while the bathroom and kitchen were great for him, the bedroom was not. The bedroom had NO room on either side of the bed. The wheelchair fit through the door but had to remain at the foot of the bed. My husband had to sit on the foot of the bed and try to shimmy his way to the top. Not easy for anyone, but especially not when you are 60 and handicapped. The description also mentioned a full-size pull out couch. The couch was comfy enough for sitting but completely unusable when pulled out. No cushioning at all, just hard coils. I've never experienced a bed so awful 😖. I would return because of the great amenities and so much to do, but I would definitely rent a different model of cottage.
I have stayed at this resort several times since it was built. It has grown considerably but not in a good way. People are fooled when they see the site fee but only later find out about other fees and taxes being added on later. If you need to cancel within 14 days of reservation forget about getting a refund. When I called to inquire about a refund approximately a week before and was told no refund, either partial or full. Because of this I came but departed two days early so I would not lose the entire amount I had paid. Other resorts will allow you to cancel within 72 hours with a small cancellation fee while others will give you credit to be used for future stays. Kids driving golf carts makes taking leisure walks a nightmare. Arcade game prices are ridiculous ($5 to play any machine for a couple of minutes) which explains why the arcade room was almost always empty. Had no idea what activities were happening. When I scanned the QR code it showed the previous weeks schedule. WiFi was hit and miss at best. I sensed the charm this resort once had has faded as it has grown.
Generally we have loved camping here in the past few years, lots of amenities, good location, and nice folks, but I have two major gripes this year. 1.They nickel and dime you a lot. When they advertise sale prices or prices in general, it excludes the separate resort fee which has gone up a lot in recent years and is never part of the discount. Also, our friends stayed in a cottage this year and arrived early. They charged them $24 to come into the campground to hang out at our campsite while they waited for their 3pm check-in time. Later I found out people were let in free for a RV show on-site. Then, their cottage was not available at 3pm, they had to wait till around 3:45 or later, with no refund or credit offered. 2. This year sand burrs are throughout the grass at our campsite, making it painful for my dog to walk, even in many other sites. Shoes drag them into the RV and they get stuck in the carpet making it painful to walk barefoot in our own RV. I mentioned it to the front desk and they basically said there was nothing they can do about it, which I know is not accurate. Maybe they don’t want to spend the money to control this problem, but given the high rates this place charges, I expect the grass at my campsite to be usable, not something that causes intense pain. Also, a warning before our visit would have been nice. I think this may be our last stay here.
From check-in to check-out, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We rented a small blue cabin for the weekend. It was nice because we didn't have to pack up and haul the camper just to get away for 2 nights. I will say that the cleanliness was okay-ish... and the amenities definately needed work. We had a stove but could not put anything in the oven because there were no sheet pans. There were no utensils for the grill. There is no dishwasher but they provide a dish cloth and dish soap. However, they should probably provide a dish sponge as I never felt like washing dishes with a cloth was sanitary. We did wash our dishes but it would be nice to know that the cleaning staff takes the dishes somewhere else to be sanitized and then re-stocks the room. We did wake up to a cockroach in the kitchen on day 2 so maybe spend some time on pest control. The pillows felt like cotton balls stuffed in a case...very lumpy and uncomfortable. There should be a ceiling fan in the bedroom, also. The TVs should really be upgraded to smart TVs in this day and age. It would have been great if the coffee and donut food trucks were open but they weren't, or if they were they had very strange hours. I feel like they could have had a lot more business if they had been open. All in all it was a great all-inclusive vacation spot and very family friendly. We will probably come back but we will be sure to pack our own utensils for the grill and bring a kitchen sponge!
