Nestled in the tranquil coastal community of New Point, Virginia, Sun Retreats New Point offers a unique opportunity for RV enthusiasts to establish a long-term presence in a serene waterfront environment. This article is crafted specifically for Virginia locals, providing a comprehensive look at what this RV resort offers and why it might be the perfect spot for your next extended stay.

RV parks across Virginia cater to a diverse range of travelers, from those seeking overnight stops to individuals and families looking for a seasonal home base. Sun Retreats New Point distinguishes itself by focusing on longer-term stays, offering lot rentals on an annual basis. This model fosters a strong sense of community among residents who return season after season, creating a familiar and friendly atmosphere. While recent management changes have brought about shifts in policies, the core appeal of a clean park and dedicated service, as noted by long-time visitors, remains a significant draw. It’s a place where you can truly settle in, personalize your space, and become part of a welcoming neighborhood by the bay.

Location and Accessibility

Sun Retreats New Point is conveniently located at 846 Sand Bank Rd, New Point, VA 23125, USA. This address places the RV resort in the charming and historically rich Mathews County, a peninsula surrounded by the Chesapeake Bay, Mobjack Bay, and the Piankatank River. This geographical positioning is a significant part of the resort's appeal, offering a genuine coastal Virginia experience.

Accessibility to the resort is straightforward, primarily via scenic state routes that lead into the peaceful community of New Point. While it offers a sense of seclusion, it's not entirely remote. Mathews County itself, though rural, provides essential services and local attractions. The county seat, Mathews Court House, is a short drive away, offering local shops, eateries, and basic amenities. Larger towns and cities, such as Gloucester or even Newport News and Hampton, are within a reasonable driving distance for more extensive shopping, dining, medical facilities, and entertainment options.

The true highlight of this location is its immediate connection to the water. New Point is renowned for its tranquil waterways, making it a haven for fishing, crabbing, kayaking, and boating enthusiasts. The resort’s proximity to these natural resources means residents have direct access to some of the best outdoor activities Virginia’s coast has to offer. While specific beach access points from the resort would need confirmation, the area is rich with opportunities to enjoy the Chesapeake Bay's unique ecosystem. This serene, water-centric location makes Sun Retreats New Point an ideal retreat for those looking to immerse themselves in Virginia's beautiful coastal environment, far from the hustle and bustle of city life, yet still within reach of necessary conveniences.

Services Offered

Sun Retreats New Point, as an RV resort catering primarily to long-term and seasonal guests, focuses on providing essential services that ensure a comfortable and well-managed living experience. • Full Utility Hook-ups: Sites are equipped with essential hook-ups including electricity, water, and sewer connections for convenient RV living.
  • Site Maintenance: The park generally maintains common areas, and while individual site upkeep might be the responsibility of the lot renter, the overall impression from reviews indicates a commitment to a "clean park."
  • On-Site Management/Staff: The presence of staff and management, as implied by mentions of "service is great," suggests that assistance for guest needs and park operations is available.
  • Restrooms and Showers: Standard for RV parks, clean and accessible restroom and shower facilities are typically provided for guest use.
  • Laundry Facilities: While not explicitly stated, most long-term RV resorts include on-site laundry facilities for residents' convenience.
  • Trash Removal: Waste disposal services are generally provided for residents within the park.
  • Community Amenities (Potential): While specifics are not detailed in the provided reviews, RV resorts often include common areas such as a clubhouse, recreational halls, or outdoor gathering spaces to foster community, which would be part of the services offered.

Features / Highlights

Sun Retreats New Point, despite recent operational changes, offers several compelling features and highlights that make it an attractive option for RVers looking for a long-term presence in coastal Virginia.

  • Dedicated Seasonal/Annual Sites: The primary highlight is the focus on long-term lot rentals, allowing residents to establish a more permanent presence and personalize their space. This caters to snowbirds, those seeking a consistent vacation spot, or individuals wanting a weekend retreat without constant setup and breakdown.
  • Strong Community Potential: With annual renters, there's a greater likelihood of forming strong bonds and a familiar community, where "everyone is so friendly," as suggested in the reviews of similar parks. While recent changes may have impacted dynamics, the foundation for a close-knit environment remains.
  • Clean and Well-Maintained Park: Positive feedback indicates that "The park is clean" and "the service is great," suggesting a commitment to maintaining a pleasant and tidy environment for residents.

  • Escape from Urban Hustle: For Virginians looking to get away from city life, New Point offers a tranquil setting that allows for true relaxation and immersion in nature.
  • Opportunity for Site Improvement: As noted by a reviewer regarding drainage issues, the willingness of residents to identify areas for "a little work" suggests an active community that takes pride in its surroundings and potentially contributes to improvements over time.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a content writer, I cannot invent specific, current promotions or special offers that Sun Retreats New Point might be running, as this information is dynamic and typically advertised directly by the management. Based on the provided information, the current operational model emphasizes annual lot rentals rather than daily or weekly stays. This inherently changes the nature of typical RV park promotions, which often focus on short-term discounts.

However, for a property that focuses on seasonal or annual rentals, potential "offers" might come in different forms. It is highly recommended that interested individuals contact Sun Retreats New Point directly to inquire about their current rental terms and any potential incentives they may offer for new annual commitments. These could include:

  • Incentives for New Annual Leases: While not a discount on the annual rate itself, there might be benefits for signing a new long-term lease.
  • Early Bird Renewals: For existing residents, there might be benefits for renewing their annual lease ahead of a deadline.
  • Specific Site Availability: Information on which sites are available for annual rental, and any unique features or benefits tied to certain lots, would be provided directly.

Given the policy change to annual-only rentals, the most important "offer" is the availability of a site for a full year, providing a consistent base for your RV without the need for constant moving. To get the most accurate and up-to-date information on their rental structure, availability, and any specific terms for new or renewing annual residents, please use the contact information provided below.

It’s a way to truly enjoy the "bay life" that many Virginians dream of.

Finally, despite feedback regarding specific site conditions, the overall sentiment points to a "clean park" with "great service." This commitment to maintenance and guest satisfaction ensures that while a site might need a "little work," the core experience of a well-managed and cared-for environment is present. The place sucks ever since sun retreats purchased the property. Campsites are too close together now and they no longer allow for people to pay to stay for days/weeks. You have to outright pay a lot rent of a year just to use it maybe one or twice during the summer months

Our camper is in A2 which one it rains it's nothing but a lake. All it needs is a few loads of dirt handsome grass seed to fix the problem. People that had the sight before us said they had the same problem and that's why they moved to a different site. The park is clean the service is great it's a nice park just needs a little work.

I've been going here for 11 years, and the memories will always stick the place, which makes a weekend blow by, and joy floats thru the air it's the most wonderful experience, especially with kids. There are monthly vendor sales where people can set up their table and chair and sell stuff, an activity room, pool, beach, store, 2 play-grounds. Would recommend!

The park is exceptionally clean, the beach is amazing and the entertainment is always a blast. Looking forward to 2022. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

This used to be our favorite RV resort, but unfortunate Sun ruined that with making it all seasonal. We came once a year for years. We haven't been able to come back now because we don't want to pay almost $5000 for seasonal. This company got greedy!! Thanks for destroying a good thing.
