Promotions or Special Offers
As a municipal park and campground, Thurston Park and Campground, run by the Village of Central Lake, typically adheres to a set fee schedule rather than offering extensive, revolving promotions like some private entities. However, based on general practices and some publicly available information for similar campgrounds, there are ways to consider value or potential savings:
- Online Reservation System: Thurston Park offers an online reservation portal, which often streamlines the booking process. There might be a small reservation fee (e.g., $6.00) associated with online bookings.
- "Lock-in" Feature: For an additional fee, campers can guarantee their selected site, which can be seen as a valuable "offer" for those with specific preferences.
- Dock Rentals for Registered Campers: Available for a daily fee (e.g., $5 per day) through their reservation software, this provides a convenient and likely more affordable option for campers bringing their boats than off-site marinas.
- Extended Stay Policies: The campground's rules mention "Extended stay of 30+ days permitted" for certain site types (Premium Bluff, Upper-Level, Standard, Tent-Camping Only sites). While not a discount, this offers flexibility for long-term visitors.
- Seasonal/Annual Camper Policy: The Village of Central Lake website mentions specific policies and contracts for seasonal or annual campers, which implies a potential for dedicated rates or arrangements for long-term residents.
It's important to note that the primary "promotion" of a municipal park like Thurston Park is its public accessibility and the quality of its facilities at a generally competitive rate compared to privately owned campgrounds in prime locations. For the most accurate and up-to-date information on rates, availability, and any specific booking incentives, it is always best to check their official website or contact them directly. The reservation portal opens on the second Tuesday of January for the corresponding season.

Customer Reviews
Very nice park. We had a site on the water. It’s so nice to fall asleep hearing the water lapping and wake up to a sunrise over the lake. The sites are pretty well packed in, but neighboring campers were very friendly, so there were no issues. We were there for Labor Day weekend- the park was full but quiet. The bathrooms were very clean. Management was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this campground.
Great campsites on northern end of Intermediate Lake and just south of the bridge crossing Central Lake. Has a boat launch & docks for guests boats. The water fill station & bathrooms are very well maintained and clean. The city park is connected and has playground equipment and a swimming area. Walking distance into the quaint village of Central Lake which has a community event every Tuesday during summer. We loved this central location while we kayak the upper chain of lakes. The managers are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area.
Loved this campground!! We had a camp spot near the water and a babbling brook. It was so beautiful and peaceful. The camp sites are well cared for. Very clean bathrooms with everything I could ask for. Big shower with a hose attachment, a folding seat in the shower, lots of handles to hold onto (very very handy as a disabled person!!) Also a fan always on the floor to keep it dry. There's also a boat ramp and a playground. Every person I met there, staff and campers, were so nice and helpful. I'm definitely coming back. :D
What gem of a park and campground. Nice sites... ours was grassy, wooded, right across from a natural spring and near the lake. There a good number of bathrooms and showers that were always very clean. The camp host, Ron, was always present and looking after things.. he was friendly and helpful.
very nice campground. And nice hosts as well. being a city park it's patrolled by the police so no riffraff here. Clean modern bathrooms and showers and Wi-Fi. sites are electric only but there is water nearby
