Whether you're a seasoned RVer looking for a relaxing long-term spot or a family seeking an activity-filled vacation, Tres Rios offers a unique blend of natural beauty, historical charm, and resort-style amenities.
Tres Rios boasts a rich history, once serving as a YMCA summer camp for over 50 years, which has contributed to its enduring legacy as a place for outdoor recreation and community gathering. This heritage is evident in the resort’s layout and the wide array of activities designed for all ages. From its historic pool to its riverside setting, Tres Rios invites you to unwind, explore, and create lasting memories. While it operates as a membership-based resort, often introduced through promotional visits, the value for those who utilize its extensive offerings and network of partner resorts can be significant.
Many members, like the one who joined six years ago with their granddaughter, express immense satisfaction, highlighting the "quiet and relaxing" atmosphere, the friendly and helpful staff, and the engaging "pool and games and crafts they offer." Even those who initially visited on a promotional trip, despite the longer-than-expected sales presentation, acknowledge the "beautiful" setting and the "great set up" of the resort. This blend of natural allure and structured activities positions Tres Rios Resort as a premier destination for Texans seeking a comprehensive RV and resort experience.

Tres Rios Resort stands out not just for its amenities but for the overall experience it cultivates. Here are its key features and highlights:
- Unique Three-River Confluence: The most prominent natural feature is its stunning location at the convergence of three Texas rivers, offering unparalleled access to water-based recreation and scenic views.
- Rich Historical Background: Its past as a YMCA summer camp (dating back over 50 years) and the presence of the "oldest pool in Texas" (built in 1902) add a unique historical charm and depth to the resort.

- Family-Friendly Environment: With dedicated kids' activities, playgrounds, and a generally safe atmosphere, it's an ideal destination for families with children and grandchildren.
- Membership Benefits (Ocean Canyon Properties): As part of the Ocean Canyon Properties network, members gain access to a collection of resorts across the southern United States, offering diverse travel opportunities. This often includes affiliations with other RV networks like Coast to Coast.
- Quiet and Relaxing Ambiance: Despite the array of activities, the resort maintains a generally "quiet and relaxing" atmosphere, providing a peaceful escape.
- Pet-Friendly: The presence of a Bark Park and generally accommodating policies make it suitable for RVers traveling with their furry companions.
- Proximity to Glen Rose Attractions: Easy access to Dinosaur Valley State Park, Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, and the town of Glen Rose enhances the recreational and educational opportunities for visitors.
While some older furniture in common areas and specific site arrangements have been noted as areas for improvement, the overall positive experience, driven by its unique natural setting, activity offerings, and friendly staff, outweighs these minor points for many.
As a membership-based resort under Ocean Canyon Properties, Tres Rios Resort frequently offers promotional "discovery" stays. These often involve a free or deeply discounted stay (e.g., "3 days and 2 nights for free!") in exchange for attending a presentation about their membership program. While these presentations can be lengthy (as one review humorously noted, "THHRREEEEEEE HOURS LATER...."), they provide an excellent opportunity to experience the resort's amenities firsthand before making a larger commitment.
For potential long-term members, the resort's sales approach is to help individuals "find a way to make it work," including in-house financing for memberships which can cost around $20,000 or more, though resale memberships can be found for significantly less (e.g., $1,500 - $4,995 plus transfer fees and annual dues). It's crucial to understand that these memberships are designed for individuals who have "TIME" to utilize the resorts frequently, as the ongoing annual dues apply whether you visit or not.
For those interested, it is highly recommended to:
- Inquire about "Be Our Guest" or "Discovery" Packages: These are the primary ways to experience the resort without an immediate membership commitment.
- Understand the Membership Model: Be prepared for a sales presentation if you accept a promotional stay. Clarify what's included in the membership (e.g., access to other Ocean Canyon Properties resorts, Coast to Coast affiliation).
- Ask About Rates for Non-Members: While primarily membership-driven, some sites or cabins might be available for rent, or short-term stays might be possible for a higher nightly rate (e.g., $50-60/night was noted in an older review).
- Explore Resale Market: For long-term commitment, researching membership resales can offer significant savings on the initial buy-in cost.

Customer Reviews
We joined Tres Rios (Ocean Canyon Properties) about 6 years ago and we love it. My granddaughter often comes with me and she loves the pool and games and crafts they offer. Staff are always friendly and helpful. It's quiet and relaxing.
I can say this if nothing less, it is beautiful!!! Tres Rios or three rivers is situated at the junction of 3 rivers. We were told that it is mostly shallow and you can walk from one side to the other. However, we arrived not long after heavy rain and the water was too murky to see the bottom. My husband and I were invited to visit the resort for free and we would just go to a 45 minute to an hour presentation... Ha ha ha!!!! In Sponge Bob fashion... THHRREEEEEEE HOURS LATER.... So here is the deal, they have a great set up and all. There is apparently the oldest pool in Texas or something like that. It was built in 1902 (I think) and the campgrounds were once part of a YWCA. Supposedly, fishing is awesome, but we were only there for a brief weekend and THREE premium morning hours were occupied with a 45 minute presentation. We were in our RV and the setup was pretty cool. They have different sites, but for a freebie you can't complain. Yes the picnic tables were situated nearly on top of the neighboring waste hole. Not the greatest arrangement if you plan to eat outside at the park table and benches. The other cons we saw was while they have these different hang out areas: hall, kids cabin, adult only rec room.... Everything was dated. Not like rustic, like furniture that was picked up on the curb and dragged in. I would sit on the floor before that furniture. The cabins we saw were decent. Back to the presentation, they try to get you to buy a membership to the resort that is coupled with there partner resorts and another rv park membership (Coast to Coast). It is almost $20K and then they try to help you find a way to make it work. For us we have demanding work and until we actually retire, there is no point paying for a plan that is meant for folks who have TIME!!!
Great staff, nice store in the office. Our only complaint: Renaming a "pot hole" to be a "speed bump" doesn't make it NOT a pot hole - fix the dang pot holes! The good news: You need to deal with the pot holes, I mean speed bumps, on the way in and out.
We recently bought a camper from Fun Town RV and we were offered 21 free nights through Ocean Canyon Resort, with Tres Rios being the only place offered in Texas. It is our first RV so we figured “Why not?” We arrived around 7pm and were still greeted with kindness. They showed us right to our site and the setup began. Let me tell you, first time setting up and had no clue what we were doing so thank you to the gentleman next to us that helped. The staff the following morning was pretty nice, welcoming and answered any questions we had. The only reason this place is getting 4 stars instead of 5 is simply the fact the “free WiFi” doesn’t really work and the camp sites are literally right on top of one another. It would be nice if the pull through sites were concrete instead of gravel because leveling was a little bit of a pain in the butt. The WiFi keeps disconnecting so if you plan on using streaming services, good luck. We try not to use electronics while camping, but with two kids, they got bored easily and began to drive us nuts, so a TV would have been nice to occupy their time. Overall, wasn’t bad. I may be posting this prematurely because we check out tomorrow and it’s also when we receive our “Presentation”, which I’ve been told is a giant sales pitch to get us to commit to a year round membership.
Very friendly RV park, some outdated playground area, but our son still had fun. This is a private RV resort, our first time there, they are undergoing some construction on the roads. It was probably the only downfall for us, a lot of dust but it was also a very windy time. Besides that if I can go again I surely would
