Valley River RV Resort in Marble, NC, has been a familiar name for some, offering a location in the scenic Western North Carolina mountains. This article aims to provide an objective overview of what Valley River RV Resort offers, based on available public information and recent guest experiences, helping you make an informed decision for your next RV adventure in our state.

Located in Marble, Valley River RV Resort is positioned in a region known for its natural beauty and proximity to various attractions. It's a place that has historically drawn RVers for its location, especially those interested in exploring the surrounding areas, including popular destinations like Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino. While past visitors have highlighted certain aspects of the park, recent feedback suggests changes in its maintenance and overall presentation. Understanding these recent perspectives is key for anyone considering a stay here, ensuring expectations align with the current reality of the resort.

When planning your RV trips within North Carolina, it’s always beneficial to gather as much current information as possible. This overview of Valley River RV Resort is designed to do just that, presenting factual details alongside recent guest insights to give you a comprehensive picture of what you might encounter during your visit to this Western North Carolina RV destination.

Location and Accessibility

Valley River RV Resort is situated at 65 Old, Tomotla Rd, Marble, NC 28905, USA. This address places the RV park in the picturesque landscape of Western North Carolina, an area celebrated for its mountainous terrain, lush forests, and winding roads. For North Carolina residents, Marble is a rural community within Cherokee County, accessible via state highways that offer scenic drives through the Appalachian foothills.

One of the significant aspects of its location, as highlighted by a reviewer, is its "great location" for activities like "Harley riding," indicating its appeal to motorcycle enthusiasts who enjoy the area's winding roads. More notably, its proximity to Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino in Murphy, NC, is a key draw. While the exact distance isn't specified, the casino is a major regional attraction, and the RV park's convenience to it is a factor for many visitors. This provides entertainment and dining options just a short drive away.

However, despite its natural setting, one review notes "traffic noise is annoying and not relaxing." This suggests that while nestled in a rural area, the park might be close enough to a busy road (perhaps US-19/74) that vehicular sounds could impact the overall tranquility for some guests. Accessibility to Marble and Murphy involves navigating mountain roads, which are generally well-maintained. The location makes it a practical base for exploring the far western tip of North Carolina, including outdoor recreation and local attractions, especially for those who prioritize proximity to the casino.

Services Offered

  • RV Sites: Valley River RV Resort provides sites for RVs, implying basic hookups for electricity, water, and sewer are available, which are standard for an RV park.
  • Wi-Fi: The park explicitly states they offer Wi-Fi. However, a customer review notes that it "doesn't work with smart TVs," indicating limitations in its functionality or bandwidth for streaming.
  • Swimming Pool (Seasonal): The park's website reportedly states the pool is open in the spring. However, a review from "shortly after the first day of spring" indicates that the pool "wasn't even water in the pool," suggesting that the pool opening schedule may not always align with advertised information or typical spring weather.
  • Staff Assistance: Reviewers mention that "the few staff that are working are very nice and helpful," and have "gone out of their way to make sure we are comfortable with our site," indicating a level of on-site support.
  • Water Feature (Pond/Lake): The park features a "lake" which a reviewer clarifies is a "mere pond that is only moderately pretty on one end," suggesting a small water body on the property.

Features / Highlights

  • Strategic Location: A key highlight is the park's "great location," particularly noted for "Harley riding" and its "proximity to the casino" (Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino), making it a convenient base for specific interests.

  • Suited for Motorcycle Enthusiasts: The mention of "Harley riding" suggests the park and surrounding area are favorable for motorcycle touring.
  • Proximity to Casino Entertainment: Being close to Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino provides convenient access to gaming, dining, and entertainment options.
  • Established Infrastructure: As an RV resort, it would have basic infrastructure for RV hookups, which is fundamental for any RV stay.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For North Carolina RV enthusiasts, understanding the nuances of local RV parks is crucial for planning a successful trip. Valley River RV Resort in Marble offers a location that holds certain appeals for specific local interests, particularly its "great location" for "Harley riding" and its "proximity to the casino" (Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino in Murphy). For locals who enjoy motorcycle touring through our scenic Western North Carolina mountains and appreciate convenient access to entertainment venues, this RV park positions itself as a practical base.

The consistent positive feedback regarding the "very nice and helpful" staff is a significant advantage. Knowing that there are dedicated individuals on-site willing to go "out of their way to make sure we are comfortable" can greatly enhance a stay, even amidst other challenges. This level of personal support and customer service is something many North Carolinians value when choosing accommodations.

However, it is important for locals to approach Valley River RV Resort with current information and managed expectations. Recent reviews highlight concerns about the park's overall maintenance, the functionality of amenities like Wi-Fi for smart TVs, and the condition of the on-site pond, which might not align with a "resort" expectation. For North Carolina residents considering this park, the primary suitability lies in its strategic location for specific activities, namely casino visits and motorcycle touring, rather than a full-service luxury resort experience. If these specific interests align with your travel plans, and you've confirmed current conditions directly with the park, it could serve as a convenient spot for your Western North Carolina adventures. For others, exploring alternatives like the KOA in Murphy, as suggested by a reviewer, might be a more fitting choice for a guaranteed "resort" experience.

We were here 3 years ago, and the park was immaculate. Well. …. it’s not anymore. Apparently there is a new owner(s) and things have really gone downhill. The few staff that are working are very nice and helpful, and have gone out of their way to make sure we are comfortable with our site. It’s really a shame; we love this area for the Harley riding and the location is great, but we will be finding another place to stay next year. 😔

From the photos, you think you'll be staying in a really nice 'resort,' but au contraire! The 'lake' is a mere pond that is only moderately pretty on one end. The traffic noise is annoying and not relaxing. We had high hopes that this would live up to the pictures and description, but we were sadly disappointed. They have Wifi but come to find out it doesn't work with smart TVs, so that was yet another misleading advertisement. They also state on their site that the pool is open in the spring. We were up there shortly after the first day of spring and there wasn't even water in the pool. The view toward the back of the campground is hideous and that's where the pond is less than attractive as well. The only plus I could see in booking here is the proximity to the casino. Save your money and go to the KOA in Murphy... you won't be disappointed.

This place absolutely sucks and is appalling! They tell you trash is included but it literally sits outside at the end of your lot all day stinking the park up. They say premium wifi but you can't get internet without a extension that you have to buy. But even with a extension your still not able to watch TV. The land maintenance is atrocious. When they cut the park, the front looks like golf course but the rest of the park towards the back looks horrible. Barley any grass in the lots and what little grass there is when they mow the grass is six inches high after mowing its four. Idk who owns this park but you need to sow some grass seed and step up the wifi because ppl are not getting what is advertised with this $700 a month. Honestly you'd probably be better off renting the back yard of a crack house from a crackhead. When I stayed there likes what it felt like

Spent a long weekend here while in town for a cycling event. The resort is near several WNC towns, each with plenty to offer. Apparently, there is a casino across the highway. For a this type resort the sites are fairly spacious, but there is absolutely no shade for the middle row of sites. Scenic Little lake on one side of the park. Nice pool (very welcome after spending hours on a bicycle in the heat!!). The bathrooms near the pool could stand a good airing out as they are a tad musty. Very friendly staff - called to find out when they might expect us, and they had all the paperwork ready when we walked in the door. For those who like this type of resort you will enjoy this place. We are state park campers and prefer spacious sites with shade.

Location, Location, Location! Clean, kid friendly, and camp host is phenomenal! I saw the post the about the pool & workout room. The pool is big enough to swim in & you can also walk in it. We spent a lot of time at the pool and made a lot of memories with our family. The work out equipment is NOT all broken. Also, as far as this video, I distinctly remember this RV and they had a huge bird feeder out back of it. With any kind of sense, you’re attracting other critters. Also, it’s camping. You’re going to have animals. We are in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains. Believe it, or not, they have birds (with wings and feathers) that fly over. I hope you stop and enjoy this best kept secret. We will continue staying here and making memories in this campground.
