Location and Accessibility
Vance Park is located at 4124 MS-24, Liberty, MS 39645, USA. This address places the campground directly on Mississippi Highway 24, a state route that connects various communities in southwestern Mississippi. Liberty itself is a small town in Amite County, offering a rural and peaceful setting that is characteristic of much of Mississippi's beautiful countryside.
The park's location on MS-24 provides straightforward accessibility for campers, whether they are arriving in an RV, towing a trailer, or simply driving a car for tent camping. Highway 24 connects to larger regional routes, allowing for relatively easy travel from nearby towns and cities within Mississippi, such as McComb, Woodville, or even parts of Louisiana just across the state line. While tucked away in the trees, as noted by a reviewer, its direct highway access ensures that reaching the park is not a complicated affair, which is a significant plus for travelers. The rural setting means less noise and light pollution, contributing to the "quiet park" experience. Despite its peaceful location, essential services like gas stations and local stores in Liberty are within a reasonable driving distance, ensuring campers can replenish supplies when needed. This balance of natural seclusion and convenient access to local amenities makes Vance Park’s location practical and appealing for those seeking a tranquil camping experience in Mississippi.
Services Offered
Vance Park, as a campground, provides essential services to facilitate a comfortable outdoor stay for its guests, primarily focusing on camping accommodations.
- Campsites: The park offers dedicated sites for camping. While specific types (RV, tent) are not detailed in general public information, most campgrounds cater to a mix.
- Hookups (Implied for RVs): While not explicitly stated in provided reviews, an RV-friendly park typically offers utility hookups. These generally include:
- Water: Access to potable water.
- Electricity: Electrical connections at sites, commonly 30-amp and 50-amp.
- Sewer: Direct sewer connections for RVs.
- Quiet Environment: A consistent theme from reviews highlights the park as a "quiet park," suggesting a peaceful atmosphere conducive to relaxation.
- Natural Setting: The park is described as being "tucked away in the trees," indicating a natural, wooded environment that enhances the camping experience.
- Hiking Trails (with caveats): The park features a "trail system" with at least three marked trails (blue, orange, yellow dot). While present, a reviewer noted that these trails are "clearly not maintained," with rotting planks on bridge crossings and impassable sections. This implies a more rugged, less managed hiking experience, or that the trails may not be fully functional.
A notable absence from services, as highlighted by a customer, is on-site laundry facilities, requiring a drive to McComb for this amenity.
Features / Highlights
Vance Park offers several features that make it a distinct option for campers in Mississippi, particularly for those who appreciate a no-frills, peaceful outdoor setting.
- Quiet and Serene Atmosphere: Perhaps the most consistently praised feature is the park's tranquility. A reviewer specifically noted it as a "quiet park," which is a significant highlight for individuals or families looking to escape urban noise and enjoy nature's calm. This peaceful environment is ideal for relaxation, reading, or simply unwinding.
- Wooded and Natural Setting: The park is described as "tucked away in the trees," providing a natural, shaded environment that many campers seek. This natural backdrop enhances the outdoor experience, offering privacy and a sense of being immersed in the Mississippi wilderness.
- Good Value: One reviewer highlighted it as an "overall great value." For budget-conscious campers or those seeking an affordable long-term stay, this makes Vance Park an attractive option.
- Hiking Trail System (Use with Caution): The presence of "3 trails that made up a trail system" is a potential highlight for those interested in exploring the natural surroundings on foot. However, it's crucial to acknowledge the significant caveat from a reviewer: the trails are "clearly not maintained," with "rotting planks" on bridge crossings and impassable sections. This means while trails exist, they may present challenges and require a higher degree of caution and preparedness from hikers.
- Rural Location: Its location in Liberty, MS, offers a true rural escape, away from the hustle and bustle of larger cities. This appeals to those who prefer a less commercialized camping experience.
The main limitation highlighted by a reviewer is the lack of on-site laundry facilities, requiring a trip to nearby McComb. This is an important consideration for longer stays. The unmaintained nature of the hiking trails is also a significant point of concern that prospective visitors should be fully aware of before planning to use them.
Promotions or Special Offers
Like many smaller, independently operated campgrounds, Vance Park typically focuses on providing consistent value through its standard rates rather than frequent, publicly advertised "promotions" in the retail sense. The appeal often lies in its competitive pricing for the camping experience it offers.
However, it is common practice for campgrounds to offer varying rates based on the duration of stay. Therefore, while no specific, time-limited promotional offers are publicly detailed for Vance Park, prospective campers should always inquire about:
- Daily Rates: For overnight or short-term stays.
- Weekly Rates: Often a discounted rate compared to paying for seven individual nights, appealing to those on extended vacations.
- Monthly Rates: Significantly reduced rates for long-term campers, which is a common draw for individuals or families needing a temporary base for work, seasonal activities, or as a more affordable living solution. One reviewer mentioned it being a "great value," suggesting competitive pricing for longer stays may be a factor.
- Seasonal Rates: Depending on local demand and climate, rates might fluctuate during peak or off-peak seasons.
To get the most accurate and up-to-date information on pricing, availability, and any potential savings for longer stays, the best course of action is to directly contact Vance Park using the provided phone numbers. Speaking with park management will ensure you receive the most current and relevant details for your specific camping needs.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
For Mississippians seeking an authentic and unpretentious outdoor experience, Vance Park in Liberty offers a suitable and often valued option. Its appeal for locals is deeply rooted in its core characteristics: peace, natural surroundings, and practical affordability.
The most significant draw for locals is undoubtedly the park's "quiet" and serene atmosphere. In our busy modern lives, finding a truly peaceful spot to unwind, read, or simply enjoy the sounds of nature is a treasure. Vance Park, nestled "in the trees" along MS-24, provides exactly that kind of restorative environment. This makes it an ideal choice for a stress-free weekend escape, a longer-term stay for those needing a tranquil base, or even just a convenient stopover while exploring the beautiful, less-traveled parts of Southwest Mississippi.
Furthermore, the positive feedback on its "great value" makes it a financially accessible option for a wide range of Mississippians. Whether you're a full-time RVer, a family looking for an affordable camping trip, or someone needing temporary lodging, the cost-effectiveness of Vance Park is a significant advantage. While the absence of on-site laundry facilities means a short drive to McComb, for many, the trade-off for a quiet, budget-friendly stay in nature is well worth it.
It is important for locals, especially those keen on hiking, to note the feedback regarding unmaintained trails. This suggests that while outdoor exploration is possible, it should be approached with appropriate gear and an understanding that paths may be rugged and require careful navigation. However, for campers whose primary goal is a peaceful site amidst natural beauty, and who are self-sufficient in terms of amenities, Vance Park is a strong contender. It represents a classic Mississippi campground experience – simple, quiet, and connected to the natural landscape, making it a perfectly suitable retreat for our state's residents.
Customer Reviews
Quiet park tucked away in the trees. Enjoyed our stay. Only negative was no laundry, had to drive to McComb. But an overall great value
I searched for a hiking trail and found this park. There were 3 trails that made up a trail system. We took the blue trail to the orange trail. The trails were clearly not maintained, but there was enough signs posted for us to make our way around. A few miles in, and it was totally impassable. I think we made it close to the yellow dot on the map, but couldn't go further. There was also several bridge crossings, but the planks were rotting under the build up of leaves. The boards sank and cracked under our steps, but the unmaintained layer of leaves made it impossible to see where was safe to step.
Not a very nice campground Trees laying all over the ground Grass high Road in very bad shape
Quiet park natural setting no cable or wifi. Good price
Signed up for t-ball. Playground and ballfields. Looked good.
